Do you have any where you live, or any local urban legends?

The closest town to myself there was a man who drove round on a mobility scooter with 4 or 5 real life owls sat with him... He would stop and let people have pics with him and all sorts.

It wasn't done as a one off or charity, he just liked to takes his owls out I guess.

I bumped into Stanley Tucci in my local farmers' market. We were queuing for the fishmonger's stall and did a little "after you"/"no, after you" dance. He was lovely, and let me go first.

Also Holly Willoughby lives in an enormous gaff near me; I pass it on the way to the train station. She has lovely lights in her garden at Christmas

We have “penny picker Steve“ he goes around with a bucket collecting money, people actually throw money down for him to collect. Apparantly he made a lot of money doing this. I’m not too sure if his still around as I’ve moved 30 mins up the road.

WildChristmas · 15/01/2020 18:12

Snowy with white mice and animals.

Doggodogington · 15/01/2020 18:12

Other than Mole man, we have a few Welsh Rugby players, a singer from the 60s and a girl off pop Idol.

wolfmom · 15/01/2020 18:13

The no smoking man was caught several times sparking up (I spent a lot of time in Southport years ago)
Brian is an absolute legend, he makes a trip to town more bearable and my daughter is slightly envious of his suits.

Dixiegirl77 · 15/01/2020 18:13

Disco Pete!

woooooo · 15/01/2020 18:13

I wonder if anyone can guess where I live? Our local 'celebrity' used to be a tall man in a kilt who would regularly be seen walking up and down the main road with a massive 80s style boom box on his shoulder blaring out music.

PilotRochester · 15/01/2020 18:13

are you in wolves? What a legend!

FelicisNox · 15/01/2020 18:13

We have 2 local celebrities: one is a chap who dresses like Elvis and directs traffic (shouts at motorists) and the other is a Victorian Lady. She dresses in lovely Victorian dresses and hats and lives in an authentic Victorian house, no tv or other electronic goods.

PilotRochester · 15/01/2020 18:16

@Backofthebunty are you in wolves? What a legend!

halfbakedkate · 15/01/2020 18:19

Where I grew up, in a South London borough, we had a local man known as 'Jesus'. He would stride purposefully up and down the high street dressed head to toe in a pristine white suit.
There was also a scary individual called Arsenal Andy. Not sure what happened to them both.
Anyone who grew up around here would know precisely who I am talking about.

ColdWinterChild · 15/01/2020 18:20

There's a chap that walks his three ferrets in the town. He's so good at dealing with curious people and really passionate about the ferrets welfare

VanGoghsDog · 15/01/2020 18:21

@Bunnyfuller

Hugh Laurie v near

Sharon from Eastenders nearish

And allegedly the hot but miserable Daniel Craig is renting in the county

You live near me then, I live in the village HL lives in! Didn't know DC was near too, I'll look for him. Technically, on the whole 6 degrees of separation, I've shagged DC!

I knew about Letitia Dean.

Doggodogington · 15/01/2020 18:23

@Dixiegirl77 South Wales? If not there must be two disco Petes!

GuidoTheKillerPimp · 15/01/2020 18:23

Harry the lift man: he worked in Binns department store (now House of Fraser) which had an old fashioned manned lift. He talked constantly, always said hello when he saw you, and walked everywhere: you would see him miles out of town always on his own and moving at a rapid pace. He was so sweet. Sadly, he died a few years ago.

unknownusername · 15/01/2020 18:26

I live near Susan Boyle and Lewis Capaldi. Susan can often be seen stoating about the local high street!

loubeylou68smellsofreindeerpoo · 15/01/2020 18:28

Dave the tan - in his 70s/80s always super tanned, wears a Rastafarian's hat complete with artificial dreads and Hawaiian shirts. Has spent decades in the local nightclubs with his wife wearing matching flashing dicky bows
Jungle Jane - beggar
Local ninja- vigilante jumps out on wrong doers with his foam pole
Spider-Man

thriftyhen · 15/01/2020 18:29

Lurleen & MovingBriskyOn I can tell the time without a watch. I always have been able to and I don't know why. I'm not 92 either!

Hillbillyhotel · 15/01/2020 18:29

@Backofthebunty Did you also have The Brownie? A man who dressed as a brownie and cycled around with his dolls every day?

claireyjs · 15/01/2020 18:34

Reading Elvis! He is awesome, wanders around town carrying his fave Elvis albums. Total local legend!

DampSquid · 15/01/2020 18:34

We have Gangsta Granny, sweet looking, very old lady who goes out every day with her shopping trolley and uses her free bus pass to go around shoplifting. She's been barred from so many local shops she often has to go to other towns. She steals all sorts of things and has around 40 convictions for shoplifting. The reason she gave? She's bored.

JosieJasper · 15/01/2020 18:35

We have the man who walks from his flat with his pot bellied pig on a lead across the main street in our part of the city. We also had a pensioner who was raving in our clubs until he died and always wore an outfit that was black with red, yellow and orange flames 🔥 white gloves, a cap, sunglasses and blew his whistle. He was a legend throughout my clubbing days.....and well beyond my clubbing days actually!

Rachel709 · 15/01/2020 18:36

Yes, a man with a learning disability who has begged around town for years. There used to be another guy who never wore shoes even in winter. Neither were / are homeless.

GhostofGeishaPast · 15/01/2020 18:40

The actor who played Harry Potter's dad lives a few doors down, does that count?

FactoidFan · 15/01/2020 18:41

You must be from the same city as me! I once saw Barn Owl man driving along with his barn owl just sat by the back window of his car. Not in a cage or in any way restrained. I am also quite fond of the atheist sign board man and the bloke who wears shorts year round and sings Christian songs next to the Brian Clough statue.
