Do you have any where you live, or any local urban legends?

The closest town to myself there was a man who drove round on a mobility scooter with 4 or 5 real life owls sat with him... He would stop and let people have pics with him and all sorts.

It wasn't done as a one off or charity, he just liked to takes his owls out I guess.

We used to live near the Krankies.

Bozlem80 · 15/01/2020 17:35

My DH used to go to the same school as Robbie Williams, we live up the road from his old house.

Rabblemum · 15/01/2020 17:36

Those people must be thrilled right now, looking at the news they're right.

salsamummy · 15/01/2020 17:37

Hermione Norris was a parent at our prep school and still is but we finished last year. Martin Clunes is often spotted about as lives in the area and I share a dentist with the wife of Sir Julian Fellows.

We have a guy who is an extra in many films and tv shows and used to draw pictures of people in the pub. It sounds very odd written down but he is a local celeb, or at least was when I was a teen (I don't mean celeb as im famous for being on tv, obvs!)

Real celeb wise there's not many who'd want to live locally, although rumour has it Ricky from Eastenders lived here for a while. Never saw him though

BiBiBirdie · 15/01/2020 17:42

@MT2017 I used to live near him too
The local pub landlord really hates his guts (or did last time I was in there)

QueSera · 15/01/2020 17:42

I've seen Billy Mitchell at our corner shop.

Namechangerextraordinaire1 · 15/01/2020 17:43

Oh and karaoke karen in the next town over who used to set up her stereo on the high street and dance along and sing, I guess, although it was a while ago and I don't really remember exactly

crispysausagerolls · 15/01/2020 17:43

@Moonflower12

Mark Lester is an Osteopath?!

Marine McClucheon and Rick Astley live here. Used to live near Hugh Grant and saw him EVERYWHERE, sometimes with one of his ladies/babies. Once had a stand off with him in our cars as he refused to reverse back although it was my right of way. Bloody Hugh. He had to in the end!

1doctorwhofan · 15/01/2020 17:46

We have a African lady who wears traditional dress and walks around with her bible shouting and reading as she goes, shes getting on now but shes been around town as long as I can remember, I love her!

booksandcaffeine · 15/01/2020 17:46

We have someone called Backwards Man... Who walks backwards and notes stuff down

(if you're from Derby, you'll know him.)

NewName73 · 15/01/2020 17:46

This will pinpoint me to a very narrow area, but Robbie Williams, Gareth Gates and Michael Macintyre all own houses close by.

pongopig · 15/01/2020 17:47

I knew Marigold would be mentioned! He was a legend. I haven’t lived in Norwich for years so I don’t know who puppet man is

NewName73 · 15/01/2020 17:47

I have just realised the OP was asking for non-famous local celebrities.

We have the Hat Man and the Running Man.

Both self-explanatory....

Kellyhoddinott1979 · 15/01/2020 17:48

We live near Gloucester and I used to work in Stroud Waitrose where Zara Tindel used to come in often 😊

lizbethb37 · 15/01/2020 17:51

Cate Blanchett is close - a friend of my saw her in the local Lidl the other day... and Lisa-Marie Presley used to live here and drank in the village pub. She also once served fish and chips from the chippy van owned by the landlord.

Itsnotalwaysasyouthink · 15/01/2020 17:55

I’d forgotten about the cycling, no smoking man.
Liverpool also had a rollerblading judge who could be seen practicing his hobby every lunchtime outside the law courts

Flamingle18 · 15/01/2020 17:58

Edwina Curry 🙄

Bluerussian · 15/01/2020 18:00

Tilly Keeper ( Louise Mitchell in ee)
Alex Walkinshaw (was Smithy in The Bill, now Fletch in Holby)
Hale and Pace but they have since moved away. Liam Pace's son went to school with mine.
Kim Medcalf (the second Sam Mitchell in EE)
Glenda Jackson
A few mature fashon models, don't know their names but recognise their faces.

MsBH · 15/01/2020 18:02

We used to have Xylophone Man. He used to sit outside H&M (formerly C&A) and play his xylophone. Everyone knew him. He sadly passed away a good few years ago but there’s now a plaque honouring him.

CassidyStone · 15/01/2020 18:08

@chocolateneededrn
Are you a North Wales coastal town dweller by any chance?

beingmum39 · 15/01/2020 18:08

I have seen Brendan Coyle twice ... I like him alot... But had to resist gawping at him when I saw him.

I held the door open for genesis band when I was having a crafty cigarette after school in the car park of my village social club many moons ago..

Turtletotem · 15/01/2020 18:10

My daughter used to work in our local Homebase and one Saturday she was on the till and Johnny Depp came in!

Doggodogington · 15/01/2020 18:11

We used to have Mole Man, had thick glasses like a mole would have (if moles wore glasses) and he was infamous as rumour was he flushed unwanted puppies down the toilet. He would be our equivalent of the neighbour out of Home Alone.

iNeverFinishAnyth · 15/01/2020 18:11

@Thewheelsarefallingoff Yes I remember Marigold too! When I first started work I passed him every day (many years ago now!)
