To tell you my baby loves me?

Just that really, I took my 8 month old swimming today, after a two month break. Turns out the pool has become quite frightening to her in that time. Instead of crying or screaming, she wrapped her arms and legs around me, like a little koala, and buried her head in my chest. After a 10 minute cuddle she was ready to splash away.

And I was hit with such a distinct wave of, "Oh my god she loves me!"

Of course I never thought she didn't, but I have definitely thought,
"Wow she loves milk."
"She loves silly faces."
"Yep, she loves ewan the sheep."

This was the first time I thought, she loves ME

Hope you don't mind me sharing, I'd love to hear your happy baby stories. I'm off for a cuddle. Grin

That’s lovely op ❤️
I miss mine being babies, it really does fly by.
My youngest is 6 now but still loves a cuddle.

DramaAlpaca · 12/01/2020 18:42

Awww, so sweet Smile

My 'baby' is 26 and he still loves me, he gives the best hugs ever, he wraps me up & squeezes me. It's lovely being hugged by your grown up son.

Fluffballs · 12/01/2020 18:44

Oh lovely, I hope you both get lots more cuddles. I'll look forward to the grown up ones!

Ah it's the best feeling! And it never, ever leaves. Even when they slam doors and stomp around in their early teens.
My 17 year old gives me great big bear hugs and I tuck my head under his chin. I am now the little one in my firstborn baby's arms. It's quite a trip, I'm telling you!
I remember sitting with him, when he was a newborn, and just being completely overtaken by a love I had never, ever, ever known. How extraordinary it all is!

Ineedaweeinpeace · 12/01/2020 18:48

Wait till they actually tell you! Just randomly. Remember this so well My DD was like 4ish
There I am minding my own business making spag bol ... she comes up cuddles your my leg gives me a kiss on the hip (random)
‘’Mummy’
‘Yeah’
‘I really love you’
‘I really love you too’

DD scampers off.

I cry little happy tears and let her have as much cheese as she wants on tea....!

SunshineCake · 12/01/2020 18:48

What a lovely post and so far a lovely thread and I hoit stays that way.

Right now dc2 doesn't even like me so this has cheered me up. I might go start a thread see if I can get advice.

Enjoy the cuddles!

Ladybirdbookworm · 12/01/2020 19:16

I know exactly what you mean ...I used to look at my DD in her cot and despair that she would never love me as much as I loved her. Shock

June705 · 12/01/2020 19:19

This post is so lovely Flowers

DukeChatsworth · 12/01/2020 19:21

DD13 still tells me she loves me several times a day. She gives hugs still but she’s bigger and it’s a bit like having a Great Dane hug you Grin but I love every minute of it still.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 12/01/2020 19:22

This is beautiful, what a lovely lift OP!

Sassypants82 · 12/01/2020 19:31

My DM used to tell us she loves us in a specific way when we were small, which I do with my own children now. They've started doing it back to me and it's adorable. I've also heard my 2.5yr old saying it to my 5 mth old. Loving all the love ❤️❤️❤️

SpamChaudFroid · 12/01/2020 19:35

What a lovely image OP, thanks for sharing Smile

LongLiveThePenis · 12/01/2020 19:35

Mine used to wrap herself around me and fall asleep in the pool at that age. Adorable.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 12/01/2020 19:38

Oh fuck, read this while slightly drink and listening to Word on a Wing by David Bowie, and it's utterly demolished me.

WhatinthenameofHalloween · 12/01/2020 19:38

I don't have kids and have never felt maternal at all, but when my nephews see me and run at me screaming my name to hug me, I have to stop myself from crying! I think they love me? God knows why, I'm a horrible grump most of the time!

DFAMA · 12/01/2020 19:40

Thats adorable! I miss mine being so little ❤

babybrain77 · 12/01/2020 19:40

Oh this is so cute 🥺 can’t wait to have this moment one day. how sweet ❤️

Imicola · 12/01/2020 19:57

Ah, cute! My DD does these funny little grabby hand cuddles (difficult to explain!) when I pick her up from nursery and makes little laughs! Yeah, cos she loves me!

FagAsh · 12/01/2020 20:00

My son is 7 and utterly adores me, he wraps his hands into my hair and asks me for cuddles. He’s like my little shadow and we love being together. So don’t worry, it doesn’t leave when they start being more independent!! Smile

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 12/01/2020 20:01

I once had a very bewildering conversation with my 2-3 year old during which it transpired that he thought we shared the same dreams every night, because he always dreamed about me and although we were doing dreamy things, we were doing them together. He also refused to never carry anything ever like his bag or coat or plate or anything because his arms were already full of his love for me.

He's now all teenagery now and greasy and smells dreadful most of the time so I have to keep remembering this stuff Grin

Twotinydictators · 12/01/2020 20:04

I was singing 'You are my sunshine' whilst cuddling DS4 at bedtime a few weeks back and mid song I heard him sniffing, and he seemed to be crying. All concerned, I asked him what the matter was and he looked up at me with tears in his eyes and a little crumpled face and said 'I just really love you mummy!'. I've never felt more loved in all my life, it was such a sweet moment.

IncrediblySadToo · 12/01/2020 20:05

That’s really lovely 💕
