To tell you my baby loves me?

Just that really, I took my 8 month old swimming today, after a two month break. Turns out the pool has become quite frightening to her in that time. Instead of crying or screaming, she wrapped her arms and legs around me, like a little koala, and buried her head in my chest. After a 10 minute cuddle she was ready to splash away.

And I was hit with such a distinct wave of, "Oh my god she loves me!"

Of course I never thought she didn't, but I have definitely thought,
"Wow she loves milk."
"She loves silly faces."
"Yep, she loves ewan the sheep."

This was the first time I thought, she loves ME

Hope you don't mind me sharing, I'd love to hear your happy baby stories. I'm off for a cuddle. Grin

That’s so lovely 😊💕 I can’t wait for mine to engage with me in that way. She’s 3 months 😊💕

Heart-warming thread Smile

AmericanLemonade · 12/01/2020 20:14

DD 8 sometimes tells me she loves me, it's the best, I'm nearly 30 and I love my mum (and tell her often) too. Lovely thread OP.

babyface83 · 12/01/2020 20:15

What a lovely thread 💕

When my daughter was 8 she came home from school with a handmade Mother's Day card. There was a poem inside:

"To a thoughtful mother
A beautiful lady
A wonderful cook
And a stylish lady, happy Mother's Day"

I told her how lovely the poem was and did the teacher tell her what to write? She looked at me very matter of fact and said "No mum. I wrote it all by myself. You're so amazing, I love you"
It was honestly one of the best feelings.

I still have it on display in my french dresser..... she's going to be 17 in March.

This thread is just gorgeous. Smile

My almost 18 year old DS loves me. I know this because when I am in our bedroom standing near our bed, he wraps his arms round me, lifts me off my feet, dumps me face down on the bed and lands on top of me yelling “ Old woman down! Get out of that one, mawbags!”
He is well over 6 feet and built like a brick shit house.

EmmiJay · 12/01/2020 20:23

Aww that gave me mummy feels! When DD (then roughly 7wks old) was in the NICU, I took her out of her cot as she sleeping just for a 'hello' cuddle. She opened her eyes a little, 'smiled' and reached up to touch my face. I cried the biggest tears and then ugly cried telling my mum later that evening lol.

KingBobra · 12/01/2020 20:25

DS (who tends towards the very literal, very logical and objective - and I think this may have been around mother's day), told me once "you might not be the best mummy in the world, but you are the best mummy for me".

stuffingball · 12/01/2020 20:26

Oh god this has broken me. DS 1.5 loves to koala cling to me when he's not sure of something or someone and I love it.

MissingSilence · 12/01/2020 20:30

My DD just turned 2, she will say out of the blue “I love you so much”, which is amazing.
The other day though we had a remarkable conversation. We’re at Center Parcs and she didn’t like the waves.
“The waves frighten me”
“Oh no, did they?”
“Yes, it’s very sad”
“It is sad. I’m sorry”
“It’s my fault”
“It’s not your fault! I took you in”
“No, we went in waves together”

letsjog · 12/01/2020 20:34

Aww so lovely ❤️

My DS2(barely2yo) whenever I pick him up from nursery and have a chat with his key worker grabs my face in his hands turns it towards him and babbles like crazy like he's trying to get all my attention and tell me about his day. It always melts me.

When we park up outside the school before any of us get out of the car DS1 undoes his seatbelt (sits behind my seat) and leans over and kisses me on the cheek. He also loves a good cuddle.

Keep em coming people!

Soundbyte · 12/01/2020 20:34

I’ve got 4 and I’ve got a few memories of feeling so loved that really stand out even though the bigger three are all in high school now.

When my eldest (now 15) first started going to nursery they did a sort of welcome song to say good morning/afternoon to all the children. They said the child’s full name in it and whenever he came out of the door at the end of his session he would start singing ‘Mummy Soundbyte, Mummy Soundbyte how are you, how are you!’ as he ran to me with his arms open for a hug 🤗

My younger son (now 14) got really ill with a chest infection when he was around 8 months old so the same as your little one. We went to the emergency doctor and as he was checking my LO over he (the baby) was staring at me so utterly adoringly while I was stood there worrying my arse off! The doctor turned to me beaming and said that he needed to be admitted to hospital as the poor little mite can barely breathe and his oxygen is very low, but just look how happy he is because he can see his mummy’ I left in tears 😳 Same son, when he was around 4 asked me if I ever knew that I was as lovely as a flower and as cuddly as a teddy bear.

My DD (now 12) proudly introducing me to her nursery friends as her ‘best friend Mummy’ She also refuses to sleep anywhere except on my chest for a good year and I loved every second of it.

My 2.5 DD has started singing back to me a little song I’ve been singing to her since she was born and rubbing her chubby little hand over my forehead like I do to her when she’s unwell. Shes so gentle and sweet and full of love. It’s really lovely to see all the love you pour into them for all that time reflected back eventually isn’t it 🥰

DramaAlpaca · 12/01/2020 20:35

dementedma that made me laugh out loud, I can just picture it Grin

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/01/2020 20:37

Only my youngest left at home now. Every day when he comes in from school I get a lovely hug, he ruffles my hair, calls me shorty and tells me he loves me. It's the best feeling ever.

dementedma · 12/01/2020 20:46

drama I try not to laugh and to be outraged but I can’t help it. As when this huge hairy man-child sprawls out next to me on the bed when I’m reading (or MNing) and the conversations go something like:
Mawbags!
What, and stop calling me that
You know how you love me and I’m your favourite?
no
And let’s face it, the only one of your children likely to be a success..
no
Well, I am. So anyway, back to how much you love me..
What do you want?
Well, there’s this thing that I really need and it’s a chance for you to invest in my future..

And so on. They are so funny at this age. Best time.

StillMedusa · 12/01/2020 20:55

Lovely thread Op!
And it never goes away...
Nothing beats when your adult children pick you up for a hug.
My DS1 is leaving for Australia next month (sob) to be with his lovely fiancee (who lived with us for a couple of years). He's 26 and still says 'Love you Mum!' whenever he leaves the house.
I'm going to miss that so so much!

ferntwist · 12/01/2020 20:56

My 18-month-old toddles up to me when I’m reading, cuddles my legs, lays her head on my lap and says “ahhh mammy!”. It melts my heart.

andyjusthangingaround · 12/01/2020 20:57

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for such a lovely note and reminding us of humanity

katie43210 · 12/01/2020 21:00

I'm having a really crappy day and this made me smile, that is lovely!

HerRoyalFattyness · 12/01/2020 21:04

My 4 year old had his tea, then sat in the sofa with me. I thought nothing of it and just sat with my arm around him watching cartoons. A little later I said "don't you want your tablet time?" (They each get half an hour to wind down before bedtime routines etc)
He said no, climbed onto my knee and cuddles in saying he was tired.
I asked him if he wanted to go to bed
He said "not yet. I like cuddles too much" GrinGrinGrin
So we had a big cuddle then up for a bath, brushed his teeth and I snuggled in his bed with him until he fell asleep. Something I haven't done in a long time because "my am a big boy mummy"
It felt so good.

Fredy45 · 12/01/2020 21:04

I have just spent 30 minutes cuddled up with my 10 year old dds, telling them about being pregnant with them. They were curled up like little fetal balls into my sides and it was just lovely. Dd1 then wanted a kiss like the first time I kissed them so I did and they kissed me back just the same.

Dd1 wants a pet to cuddle but Dd2 doesn't need one because she has me

ArchMemory · 12/01/2020 21:05

Lovely thread.

My then 8 year old was looking at my face once and I suddenly felt self conscious and said ‘oh I’ve got a terrible spot!’ and he looked at me surprised and said ‘I don’t care about spots’ and I realised he really didn’t. He just liked my face.
