To tell you my baby loves me?

Just that really, I took my 8 month old swimming today, after a two month break. Turns out the pool has become quite frightening to her in that time. Instead of crying or screaming, she wrapped her arms and legs around me, like a little koala, and buried her head in my chest. After a 10 minute cuddle she was ready to splash away.

And I was hit with such a distinct wave of, "Oh my god she loves me!"

Of course I never thought she didn't, but I have definitely thought,
"Wow she loves milk."
"She loves silly faces."
"Yep, she loves ewan the sheep."

This was the first time I thought, she loves ME

Hope you don't mind me sharing, I'd love to hear your happy baby stories. I'm off for a cuddle. Grin

DD is 8 . She was sad to be back at school because "I love hanging out with you".

She also still does monkey and koala cuddles and jumps at the chance to sleep with me when her dad offers.

Long may it continue.

LaPufalina · 12/01/2020 21:10

My 3yo eldest DD was a very uncuddly baby, but is lovely and surprisingly affectionate these days. She will fling her arms around me, offer me a kiss and proclaim "mummy, I love you all over" Grin she's especially cute at bedtime.

HerRoyalFattyness · 12/01/2020 21:15

I also know DS1 loves me.
He's 11 now and almost as tall as me. But he still cuddles me goodnight everyday, and on weekends he waltzes into my room like he owns the place, and we cuddle up in my bed to watch TV together.

I'm not so sure about DD (6). She's very fickle and flits between loving me and saying daddy is the best. Grin little monkey that she is...
Joking aside, I love putting her to bed. She always tells me "kiss first" so I give her a kiss. Then she throws her arms around my neck to trap me in place and tells me "cuddle forever!" And giggles her little head off refusing to let go of me.

Thank you OP. This thread has made me smile on a very dark day FlowersStar

PositiveVibez · 12/01/2020 21:18

Awww how lovely OP.

I will never forget the day my DD told me she loved me, totally unprompted. I was years ago now, but I remember it like it was yesterday ❤️❤️❤️

JRUIN · 12/01/2020 21:21

Aww that's cute. Of course she loves you AND even more importantly she trusts you. I miss the baby/toddler/child phase so much. But I am pleased to report that after the turbulent teenage years that I basically blagged through (no choice really as a VERY single mum of 5) my young adult children are just as adorable now as they were when they were little. And I know they love me as much as I love them.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 12/01/2020 21:22

I took DS off the to the swimming pool today and left 4.5 month DD with DH for the grand total of 1h 40 mins. I came back to a hot screaming mess. I took and she immediately stopped and just shoved her face in my neck

My two year old fell in a deep puddle last week and was absolutely soaking. By the time we got home he was freezing bless him, so I stripped him off put a vest and big jumper on him and he asked for a cuddle, he wrapped his arms and legs around me to get as close as he could then looked at me and said 'I'm happy now, lub you mamma' then snuggled his head into my chest. Was so unexpected and lovely it made me cry! Especially because he can't say love so says lub, it sounded so cute. He's a daddys boy so it's not often I get the cuddles and loving off him.
As daft as it sounds I think I'll never forget that lovely moment just me and him where he loved me so much.

EvaHarknessRose · 12/01/2020 21:27

M 14 yo dd wants to watch a particular show with me, or cook with me or do stuff all the time at the moment. I feel so loved.

TitianaTitsling · 12/01/2020 21:29

Oh this is making me think of that poem/story 'I'll love you forever, l like you a lot, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be' and now my eyes are going all swimmy...
(Sorry for making it a bit depressing!)

Duggeeismysaviour · 12/01/2020 21:29

When I'm reading before story with 2 year old ds on my lap, he often cups my cheek in his hand - as I peer around his head to see the book - and either pulls me close to his own cheek or turns to kiss me. He also randomly kisses my hand after he takes it (at my request) on walks. I can't bear how much I love him sometimes. I want to bottle these moments to savour forever

Chip22 · 12/01/2020 21:32

Some really heartwarming stories here!

Sometimes DD (10months) will smoosh her little lips against my cheek when I ask for a kiss. (Not sure if this is something other babies do because PFB but it sure makes me feel the love nonetheless!)

tmh88 · 12/01/2020 21:36

@Twotinydictators that has just absolutely melted my heart!

DS2 has started saying “I love you” to me.. he doesn’t know what It means yet but he gives me a cuddle at the same time and it’s the most special feeling.

ContessaferJones · 12/01/2020 21:37

DS1 was a right twat earlier - something had got into him (not uncommon) and he was trying everything he could think of to get a rise out of me, including telling insults, getting in my face and slapping my arse (he's 8). I managed to ignore him throughout and not commit murder. Eventually he gave up and came and sat next to me, then asked me to put him to bed. He fell asleep cuddled up next to me. I think he was trying to show he was sorry.

I'm trying to hold on to the ending of that story rather than the beginning!!

Trumpleton · 12/01/2020 21:47

Also loving these stories !
When my 2 year old started to make little sentences he would hold his hand out to me and say "come on Mummy, let's go!" Made me feel very wanted and loved. Before you know it they don't do that cute thing any more and it's something else. Must start to write them down!

Bookvan · 12/01/2020 21:51

I was tucking my DS(4) into bed, he was doing the usual 'mummyyyyyyyy come back' when I left the room. After going up and down the stairs 30 times I was getting a bit annoyed until he said 'mummy I just need a cuddle', so I cuddled him and just as he was dropping off to sleep said 'mummy I love you all day'.

Today he's not well, and all he wants is me. No teddies, daddy, grandma, sister. Just mummy. So lovely to feel so loved and needed

ichifanny · 12/01/2020 21:52

It’s just wonderful when you start to feel the love back from them . Lovely post .

divafever99 · 12/01/2020 22:15

Lovely thread op! My dd (4) always likes to give me a cuddle on the sofa, and insists on putting her tiny arm around me instead of my arm around her. Can't be comfortable for her but she insists on it being that way round!

ToTheRegimentIWishIWasThere · 12/01/2020 22:26

My just turned 3yo is hilarious. He comes out with some really funny things but says them in such a serious, earnest way that you feel it would be amiss to be anything other than very serious back.

I have DH a kiss earlier today and by the time I turned DS was stood there puckered up ready because he knows he gets one next. He said "oh I like you Mummy, actually I love you"

goingtoneedabiggercar · 12/01/2020 22:34

Well DS is only 7 weeks so there's not a lot he can say but he was having a cuddle with my mum the other day and he started to get a bit grumpy. He'd not long been fed and his nappy was clean so mum just handed him back to me. He snuggled in and calmed right down. It's probably more familiarity than love but I'll take what I can get. I'm struggling with PND so it's nice when I can see the good in something.

Aria999 · 12/01/2020 22:35

😍

I recently got from DS(4)

'Mummy you're my favorite thing in the whole universe'

Makes everything worth it!

Frazzledmum123 · 12/01/2020 22:50

My son (8) has never been one for mushy words but he will draw pictures and write 'I love you Mum' on them, it's like it's his way of telling me without having to and I keep every one. The first person he ever said it to out loud was his sister when he first met her, he was only 2 and it is still one of my all time favourite memories. Dd (6) is always saying I'm the 'bestest mum in the world' and she has a knack of saying it when I really need to hear it. Dd2 (3) is a proper mummy's girl and although I love them all equally myself, she is the person who makes ME feel the most loved in the world. No matter what is wrong with her, a hug from me fixes it and she grabs my hair when I say goodnight to keep me close.
I was also cuddling my 3 month old nephew today and he was getting a bit whingy. I took him so his mum was in view of him and his whole temperament changed, he was happy with me as long as he could see her and started cooing at her. It hit me just how young the bonds start 😍

paintedfences · 12/01/2020 22:57

Mine is from a few months ago, just before I went back to work, my ds was 11 months. It was a rotten day, sideways rain and dh was doing the bathroom, so I took him out for lunch.

The two of us went to a little local cafe and I ordered the Mediterranean breakfast (owners are from around there) and he sat in his high chair and we shared the spinach pies and olives and feta and toast. And he was so chirpy and sweet, shouting baby talk at everyone in the cafe that everyone was smiling at this beautiful little happy smiley baby.

And then in front of everyone, he kept reaching out his arms for me, and grabbing me and cuddling me to him, pulling my hair down so my cheek was against his cheek. And everyone was smiling at him and me, and I felt the luckiest person in the world. I love him so much.

Figmentofimagination · 12/01/2020 23:20

My DS (2.8) will randomly run up to me when I'm doing something (cooking, hanging up washing etc) and kiss me on the leg with the mwah noise and then give me leg a big hug and say "aaaahhhh".
Every time he does it, it makes me melt as he can't tell me he loves me yet due to speech delay. So getting those kisses and cuddles mean the world.

gamerwidow · 12/01/2020 23:26

My DD(9) will sit next to me to play her tablet and will reach out every so often just to stroke my arm or give me a reassuring pat without even really realising she’s doing it.

Beseen19 · 12/01/2020 23:33

My DS (3) is a very loving boy. He wants to hold hands all the time and if I ever carry him (rare as I'm 100 years pregnant) he says "I just love when you carry me mummy".
He asks for a snuggle at least half hourly and woke up from his sleep as I went into check on him just to say "you are a sweet girl".
I've got the biggest head ever with him around. Pretty sure the next one will be independent and not require my cuddles every 10 minutes.
