Ok ok, we've had loads of threads. I accept their decision to want to resign from public duties - always though Harry might do that ...

BUT ... why should we pay for them? How come they get to keep Frogmore cottage, which WE the tax payer have paid for? And we have just paid over 2 million for them to renovate it???

If they want to go their seperate ways from Royal duties, FINE...... BUT , if they do that, they surely should relinquish the perks (i.e. the house, cars, money that comes with the job) and do what the rest of us do - earn their own.

There have been worse people in the Royal family. This level of vitriol and bullying is unprecedented, and it's crazy when you consider that her worst "crimes" are being foreign, slightly older than her husband, estranged from some toxic family members, divorced, and someone who made their own money. And mixed race. It's totally disingenuous to act like it's impossible for her to face racism because x poster isn't personally racist. She's done nothing wrong, and there's been a hysterical vendetta against her from the moment she was first seen with Harry.

We don't like her because she's fake? How do we know she's fake? The testimony of her resentful money-grabbing relatives who all seemed estranged from each other until the love of attention temporarily brought them together, or her bitter ex husband who wants to sell a show based on her?

Meh. I think they're just accelerating & taking control of what would have happened anyway with Prince Charles' plan to drastically streamline the 'core' family. The structural knocking 5 houses into one was paid for by the Crown Estate: the income the Crown is given annually for upkeep, travel, tours, entertaining foreign dignitaries etc . The annual revenue of the Crown last year was £323million, which is turned over to Govt who then give back 25% as a yearly income, called the Crown Estate. Frogmore's internal decor, furniture, fixtures & fittings (kitchen, bathroom, gym etc) were paid for by the couple's own money. Its up to the Queen if they keep it, as its part of her estate & property portfolio & was due for renovation anyway.

Press are reporting Meghan has already gone back to Canada, where they’d left Archie with his nanny.

You may as well be furious with Captian Hook and Tinkerbell - they have as much impact on your life. Why are you so invested in people you'll never meet?

I mean, I'm a totally normal and boring person and when I went to marry DH in Canada I was living abroad so phoned my parents, told my sister and emailed friends.

Think back to when they became engaged and Meghan was going to hit the ground running. What went wrong? Personally I think while they were going out they lived on different continents and her perception of life as a member of the RF wasn't what she expected.

I suspect there must be a serious concern im the RF about this marriage and both Harry and Archie's welfare. According to the BBC the DM are reporting that Meghan has already returned to Canada.

Someone pointed out that Harry turns 36 this year which is the same age Diana was when she died. Sometimes things like that can focus a person's mind and make them consider their happiness.

YABU to think you have any say in how your tax is spent, royals are a tiny amount really. Be upset that they've got millions in inherited wealth, be upset with they system that has you working 4 jobs while others are born wealthy, be upset that the richest are getting richer while the poorest poorer and the state smaller, be upset that private education still buys you access to the best paid professions. I'd personally like to abolish the monarchy, remove inherited wealth and have a system which allowed far more social mobility, but I wish Harry all the best, he lost his mum at 12, he'll be aware of how unhappy she was before her death, of course he wants better for his family. We all as individuals do the best we can for ourselves and our family, regardless of circumstances and that's what he's doing. I'd do exactly the same if I was in his position. I'm sure he'll continue to do great work for veterans and a whole host of worthy charities.

The royals are the epitome of what’s wrong with our society.

They’re literally a family living off the fact that their ancestors got lucky when it came to land grabbing. And they continue to live off their riches.

So, I personally think the royal family need to be got rid of. No idea of how but at the end of the day, it’s nonsense that they get to keep and own all of that land and are expected to be treated in such a special way.
