If you want to leave fine, goodbye
But you can’t be half in half out !

yes, i think they werent in UK at Christmas, the palace didnt like it, they put a pic where Harry wasnt on, and they didnt ask about them when they were away (the thing M mentioned in her ITV speech).
and, M and H reacted that way in response.

Jellykat · 09/01/2020 16:00

I also wondered about how Meghan could square mixing with Prince Andrew, given her female rights work.. maybe she can't

If they want out, fair enough, given the amount of shitty comments the press have slung at her, but i do think they should have discussed their decision with the family elders before going public! The fact they didnt is most odd..

malificent7 · 09/01/2020 16:03

These two are the only royals i properly like tbh. Everyone slagged Kate Middleton off for years for " not working." Now shes pretty much saint Katherine.

bluebell34567 · 09/01/2020 16:04

they didnt discuss with RF because the relationships are not good atm.

bluebell34567 · 09/01/2020 16:05

Katherine is very suitable for her role.

Honeyroar · 09/01/2020 16:12

I think Harry not the brightest spark. He’s well meaning but doesn’t think things through. He is like his mother in that he loves the media when they’re raving over him and waving flags at his wedding, but can’t take anything other than praise and adoration from them. Unlike William and Kate, they haven’t learned to just ignore name calling until it goes away. Lashing out with tantrums does them harm rather than helping. Same for the doe eyed “I’m having such a hard time” interviews.

I think they’ll struggle to come back to glory now anyway so it’s best they step down. They absolutely should have protection/security officers, they are still security targets , plus Tony Blair and David Cameron still have them. But they should not have any more funding. They ought to be able to live comfortably on what they’ve inherited/earned anyway. They should have to give the house up and move somewhere much more modest now. They worked for a few months only, they don’t merit it.

Devereux1 · 09/01/2020 16:15

In his darkest times, Harry must look at Chelsy and that life, and think, "What the hell have I done?"

Jellykat · 09/01/2020 16:18

Relationships might not be great atm, but they couldve told granny out of respect surely?

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 16:20

@Honeyroar I think you the whole scenario spot on .

woodchuck99 · 09/01/2020 16:21

I don't get what you mean when you say half and half out but if they aren't going to be given money by the taxpayer any more why is it any of your business what they do?

Quartz2208 · 09/01/2020 16:24

Devereux1 I would say never, the one thing I think is undoubtedly true is how much he loves Meghan.

In his darkest times he clearly has gone why on earth do I want to be part of the Royal Family. Hence this

Devereux1 · 09/01/2020 16:30

In his darkest times he clearly has gone why on earth do I want to be part of the Royal Family.

Well, whilst he's over there in the dark, perhaps he could reach his hand down into his pocket of £34m and pay us back for all the payments he's received in his training, protection and role as HRH for which he's now throwing in the towel without repaying the nation with the responsibility for serving and fulfilling his duty which he holds.

LaurieMarlow · 09/01/2020 16:34

In his darkest times, Harry must look at Chelsy and that life, and think, "What the hell have I done?"

Um, she dumped him. What was he supposed to have done differently?

bluebell34567 · 09/01/2020 16:35

Chelsey didnt want the position.

Devereux1 · 09/01/2020 16:51

Chelsey didnt want the position.

Chelsey had the decency to walk away. It takes integrity to do that and not con the RF, Harry or the nation, take it, fail at it, bring everyone down, take the money and then bail.

What a contrast.

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2020 16:52

The first outing with William and Kate together will be interesting to see. It'll happen at some stage and the press will go into overdrive.
I doubt that his brother will look anything other than daggers at them both.
I doubt they will be able to grin through all this somehow.
I wonder if they will be able to avoid each other at all ? Will they just not see each other? Will they just be kept apart now?
It's all a bit of a mess really!

dognamedspot · 09/01/2020 16:54

Honeyroar I agree 100%. On another thread I was trying to say it's not about discrimination, it's not about the public being unfair to a "young couple with baby", they have made some very unwise choices and then bleated about the predictable consequences.

bluebell34567 · 09/01/2020 16:55

agree @Devereux1.

RuffleCrow · 09/01/2020 16:56

Gosh these threads are chock full of schadenfreude. Why don't i have a 'hide thread' button anymore?

Chesham · 09/01/2020 16:58

I think they are both unreasonable to make an announcement without discussing it with the Queen. They’ve obviously been planning to do this for a while, given the complexity of their new website. What a pair of bitches to blindside their granny like that!!

managedmis · 09/01/2020 16:58

Megxit

GrinWine

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 17:05

Whats the new website all about does it have a contact page for appearances Grin

When you think about it they are ridiculous people

Elephantslegs · 09/01/2020 17:08

As normal people we can work part time, so why can't royals?

Good for harry! Let him earn his money!
Meghan has her own money!

BubblesBuddy · 09/01/2020 17:11

Why would anyone, in the future, care what these privileged wannabes say or think? They will have a massive carbon footprint. They hypocrisy of them is astounding. They will make money from their status but could tell the person about their plans who gave them status in the first place. Who is paying for their security? We, as a nation, should reduce their status so they are like the rest of us.

Good luck with the American media. They will gobble them up.

SleepingStandingUp · 09/01/2020 17:27

I suspect they'll step down entirely once the Queen and Prince Phillip are dead.
