If you want to leave fine, goodbye
But you can’t be half in half out !

Cornettoninja
but you’re massively distracted from the real waste and corruption in this country if you think the money spent on the royal family is the problem

Right ho. Er.. who here is doing that then? Hmm

PinkPieAtNight · 09/01/2020 14:58

He just has a gigantic chip on his shoulder.

Understandably he has profound feelings of grief and is projecting his anger and indignation about how he felt the royal family and the media let his mother down.

He would be more credible if he'd decided to step back before the big flashy celebrity filled wedding with self indulgent procession, before the 2m refurb. Calling their site Sussex royal seems laughable.

They seem to want to trade off their royal status without having to toe the line. As others has said it is the mixed messages that irritate people, they want adulation and cannot cope with criticism.

LIZS · 09/01/2020 15:06

Surely despite all her misgivings and misery even his mother saw her sons as the future of the Royal family. To me this decision is contrary to that. What happens when public interest in them wanes and they need the Royal image again, or worse if this does not bring them the idyllic life and happiness they are seeking. It will not be long before Archie goes to school and dividing their time between continents becomes less practical. Realistically it would be Harry doing the legwork.

Notthebloodygym · 09/01/2020 15:06

I don't blame them at all after the press vitriol. It's hilarious reading all the press splutter this morning, now they'll be denied an audience with them.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 09/01/2020 15:09

This half in/half out is nonsense, nothing has been agreed with the RF and it isn't H&M who get to dictate how things will be. "Sussexroyal" won't last long as a brand name if they are stripped of HRH. I think the Queen should revoke Sussex as well. They have no connection to Sussex and have only visited once.

They can't stay "Royal" if the monarch can't control what they are doing. They could turn up to open a hospital with advertising boards on the side of the car to make money. They haven't so much lost the plot as never read the book. TBF I don't think Harry's ever read a book.

FiveTwoFaster · 09/01/2020 15:12

SussexNormal?

RasberryRoyale · 09/01/2020 15:14

Of course they are having their cake and eating it. If they don’t like the a royal life then bugger off and live quietly and denounce your titles. You can’t have the title without the work. And of course they still want all the trimmings and cash that comes with it.

Working to be financially independent is hilarious.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 09/01/2020 15:18

I am having a completely unproductive day working from home. I am having a lovely time posting rubbish on MN, googling nonsense etc instead of working.

So I am now wondering if I can resign and tell me employers that I am resigning and I will be working towards financial independence but until that time they should keep sending the money. Worth a go.

PinkPieAtNight · 09/01/2020 15:27

I don't think Harry likes being second fiddle to William. The Sussexes seem to want to be the mega stars wherever they go. Shots of them on Buckingham Palace balcony etc, they just look awkward when they aren't running the show and being the most important people present.

toomuchtooold · 09/01/2020 15:30

I think it's brilliant. They've just went and told his mental relatives to fuck off and now the palace and the pundits are all like "get back here so we can criticise you some more!" Eh, no.

It'll be amusing if they do cut him off of the civil list. The two of them are both pretty well off in their own right (her from the acting career, him from his mum) so I wouldn't have thought it would make much difference to them.

It's been eye opening though, how light touch the treatment of Andrew was compared to them. You can do what you want as long as you a) stay in the family and b) don't wash your dirty linen in public. It's completely messed up.

mynameiswah · 09/01/2020 15:32

I don't blame them. Don't understand the anger for them leaving. It really means nothing to me. People here are so ridiculous!

Cornettoninja · 09/01/2020 15:32

Right ho. Er.. who here is doing that then

Depends where you get your news and information I suppose. Or did you mean on this thread in particular?

I’m not agreeing with funding the royal family btw just pointing out that there’s bigger fish to fry. I can’t get excited about the idea of becoming a republic when it wouldn’t achieve much practically speaking. A percentage of the population might feel like they’d achieved something but it doesn’t amount to much in reality.

FiveTwoFaster · 09/01/2020 15:35

SussexPeasant.

Rosebel · 09/01/2020 15:38

Who the hell is achieving things in the Royal family off their own back? Wasn't Harry the only one who actually fought in the army! I'd say that was him achieving a pretty big goal? Certainly doing more for his country than the rest of them

bluebell34567 · 09/01/2020 15:39

it was very quite and peaceful when they were away.

Devereux1 · 09/01/2020 15:39

Sorry Cornettoninja but I just can't make head nor tale what you're talking about.

Depends where you get your news and information I suppose. Or did you mean on this thread in particular?
Well, your post said "you're" and was replying to me. But it was referring to something I never said, so all a bit confusing.

Do you think you and others should pay for the renovations on my house?

KundaliniRising · 09/01/2020 15:45

I do wonder if M and H are so Angry by the behaviour of Prince A and the Firm that they have decided to throw the towel in as it were.

If A was my uncle i would be wanting to step away from him too Envy < not envy

Tbf i feel that the whole monarchy thing in the uk should be disbanded and shut down altogether. But then i am not a royalist at all.

PinkPieAtNight · 09/01/2020 15:48

'It'll be amusing if they do cut him off of the civil list. The two of them are both pretty well off in their own right (her from the acting career, him from his mum) so I wouldn't have thought it would make much difference to them.'

Financially it won't make much difference but it is the recognition they seem to crave. Let's hope they stop exploiting the Royal/Duke and Duchess thing for their own woke 'trailblazing' stuff. They are hypocrites, using the RF link only when it suits them.

I wish them well and hope they are happy, but they can't say they are stepping back yet still want to have VIP charity/celebrity status, it doesn't work like that. They're either in or out.

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 15:49

What areyou on aboutHarry wasn't "fighting" in the army because he was 3rd in line to the throne he went to the Army from school but he wasn't fighting prince william was flying for Air ambulance was probably more dangerous than Harry "fighting" in the army .

KundaliniRising · 09/01/2020 15:49

I secretly think H and M are doing the hockey cokey ‘in, out, in, out, shake it all about...’ acutally that is quite funny

The80sweregreat · 09/01/2020 15:53

I bet the Queen had an inking this would happen : no sign of a photo of Harry and Meghan on Christmas Day speech filming.
Talking about ' bumpy ride' : photos of Charles and George and Prince William all over the press etc etc. She might not have thought it would happen so fast, but I bet she just had that instinct you get when you know something isn't right or about to kick off!
I would hazard a guess she's more clued up than they think she is.
They can also make life hard for them too I bet .. I can imagine the conversation behind closed doors will be very interesting. The courtiers will be plotting revenge. You can't really have your cake and eat it in this life however much money you have. Nobody really can do what they want without repercussions.
I don't think any of this will be easy for them!

bluebell34567 · 09/01/2020 15:54

@Mrsjayy Harry was fighting in Afganistan.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 09/01/2020 15:55

Yep best of both worlds, In or out you cant play this game and expect the rest of the firm to be thrilled. Mind you Charles has to slim down the team, he should tell them to clear off

BonfireStarter · 09/01/2020 15:57

Yanbu. They expected all the perks, fancy homes, expensive refurbishments, designer clothes, now they want to keep all that but not take any of the duties.

Just become private citizens and stop the hypocritical preaching Meghan and Harry.

Mrsjayy · 09/01/2020 15:58

Prince Andrew faught in the falklands just because they do a military stint and doesn't mean they are in actual peril or danger any sign of danger prince Harry would have been deployed elsewhere.
