To feel depressed after taking down the Christmas decs

Place looks so bare and empty. Can’t help thinking back to the warm fuzzy feeling of putting them up.

Oh sorry OP, I did mine today and I effin love it. SPACE. CLEAN. Although I will be hoovering up the remnants of glitter for a few weeks.

funmummy48 · 05/01/2020 16:11

I like the clean and back to normal feeling but miss the fuzziness so this year, I've hung onto the fairy lights. It's still cosy and twinkle now.

squeekums · 05/01/2020 16:11

I took mine down other day and love it, space has returned lol

funmummy48 · 05/01/2020 16:11

Twinkly not twinkle!

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 05/01/2020 16:12

We're doing ours right now and I feel exactly the same op. Every year I dread taking them down.

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2020 16:13

I like having everything back the way it was, and clean etc. But it's a sign of life returning back to normal. No more sitting on the sofa eating cheese and crackers and drinking wine in the afternoon. Sad

Give it about nine months and Christmas will be everywhere once again...

Doyoumind · 05/01/2020 16:14

I've been putting off doing mine but I'm going to start soon. It will be sad but I looking forward to the space.

Brimful · 05/01/2020 16:14

Usually when I take the decorations/tree down I feel like I've removed all the cheer, but this year I took them town early. Space! Normality!

cardibach · 05/01/2020 16:15

I like fairy lights so I’m going to get some which aren’t overtly Christmassy and put them up. I do like the clean open feel of the house without a tree though (in a flat temporarily over this Christmas so had lights instead of a tree anyway).

Lipz · 05/01/2020 16:16

Still another night to go here. Am not looking forward to it at all.

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2020 16:16

I even bought next year's wrapping paper and crackers in the sales and put them in the loft. 49p and £1.49. I have never done that before, so have made a note on the diary not to buy any more when the time comes.

Easter Eggs are in the shops!

timeforawine · 05/01/2020 16:17

Mine down New Year's Day and i also find it all bland and meh now Sad

tinytemper66 · 05/01/2020 16:17

I feel bitter sweet...all down except the crib and the tree. Taken decs off it but have left the lights on for one last night.

ilovesooty · 05/01/2020 16:17

Did you have a good Christmas? If so they've done their job.

fishonabicycle · 05/01/2020 16:17

Just took ours down. Sort of glad (tree corpse home!) But sad (no fairy lights), so I think I will find some non Christmassy ones to put up.

BabbleBee · 05/01/2020 16:18

I like the space and cleanliness in the house. It’s the pretty outside lights everywhere that I really miss... dark evenings are so drab without them.

Nutkin123 · 05/01/2020 16:19

I cried 😂😂😂😂

Livpool · 05/01/2020 16:19

I agree! X

HomeMadeMadness · 05/01/2020 16:19

YANBU. I'm lucky and had a lovely Christmas....just not looking forward to going back to real life!

ZaraW · 05/01/2020 16:20

I quite like putting them away. I have a paper star with a light inside that I bought in Stockholm which is really beautiful. I keep it up all year round.

Drum2018 · 05/01/2020 16:20

I hate the thoughts of taking them down but once they are all put away I am kind of glad to have everything tidied and the sitting room is more spacious.

Roussette · 05/01/2020 16:20

Took mine down 1st January. Couldn't wait! No more clutter

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 05/01/2020 16:20

I enjoy getting them down and having the house back to normal in the end. I know what you mean but for me the depressed feeling comes a bit earlier - when it’s still “Christmas time” but the main parts are over.

I think eating Xmas food brings me down a bit too.

ilovesooty · 05/01/2020 16:21

And the nights are already getting lighter.

PositiveVibez · 05/01/2020 16:22

I took mine down on new year's Day. Love having my living room back.

I do like the feeling of putting them up though.
