Jeremy Clarkson and Aussie fires.

Jeremy Clarkson ha s apparently written a column about the bushfires here in Oz. He apparently feels that God hates Australia, so he’s burning it. He feels that all Australian animals want to kill people ( forgivable view, but untrue. Mostly!) . He feels that Australia is too dangerous for human habitation. Okay, normally I enjoy Jeremy’ refreshingly un-pc, tongue in cheek humour. He does go too far sometimes and he has stepped way over a line here. People are losing their lives and homes. How this can be a topic for humour is beyond me. I know the man can be bigoted, but so outright insensitive?

I voted YABU for 3 reasons:

1 - OP didn't read the article before posting
2 - Jokes are always funny until they touch on something you care about
3 - It's just a silly article written to provoke a reaction. You have reacted

Yeah, I've not voted but if I did it would be YABU for reasons bored outlines.

Please don't make false claims to whip up outrage. Don't believe what you hear until you've seen the source and evaluated it. This sort of thing has got the world to a shitty place - one side reacts whilst the other side laughs at them for misunderstanding, and so the divide deepens.

Jeremy Clarkson is ageing and increasingly out of touch and irrelevant. He is desperate for ways to get noticed and things like this are his only avenue these days. Sad, dated, fading old man.

I've read the article. He's a douche bag on a huge scale.

He essentially tells people to come back to England. Some of these people are trapped on beaches, cut off from everything, no water nothing and he thinks they can just pop on a Qantas airbus and head 'back'.

So say they all do come 'back' (as presumably this a reference that all Australians are derived from English convicts of course) he will then be kicking off about all these 'immigrants'

In addition all those animals that have died is heartbreaking, and yet he seems to laugh about the stupid animals. Whether they can harm you or not it's not funny.

He's slagged off Australians before when they lost the World Cup when Jonny Wilkinson scored and it really wound me up, went right off him them. Good to see he's matured and in the face of the worse fires form any country we've seen in my lifetime he has to kick people when they're down.

The best advice is not to read Clarkson. As you do read his articles and enjoy them, op, you now find his bile directed at you. People like you feed his ego. He’s not funny. He’s crude and rude. Now you know op. Don’t read his articles. Oh! I notice you didn’t actually read this one!

I don't believe half the shite they spout is even their real opinion, they just think up the most controversial thing they can get away with saying to attract attention to themselves. Take it with a pinch of salt - the more we ignore people like this, the quicker they'll fade into obscurity where they belong.

Funny you should say that. In the same article that he made the remarks about Australia, he also went for the jugular regarding the French, and the highly sensitive historical event that was France's occupation by Nazi Germany, after Italy allied with Nazi Germany. I felt sickened.

There are still people alive who remember what it was like to be occupied by hostile forces, not to mention the people who grew up in the shadow of it. But isn't Jeremy refreshing to be so unPC to mock France for losing a war after two of her immediate neighbours allied against her, eh? No harm done, I'm sure. It's not like thousands of French soldiers and civilians died, or anything.

Reminds me of the time a couple stormed out of a Frankie Boyle show because he made a joke about something their child was suffering for. Clearly they’d bought the tickets in the hope he’d continue to only target other people because everyone knows FBs style of comedy.

Surprised no-one has mentioned the 100 people arrested in Australia for fire raising. Or the green policies forbidding controlled burning prior to the bush fires?
