Jeremy Clarkson and Aussie fires.

Jeremy Clarkson ha s apparently written a column about the bushfires here in Oz. He apparently feels that God hates Australia, so he’s burning it. He feels that all Australian animals want to kill people ( forgivable view, but untrue. Mostly!) . He feels that Australia is too dangerous for human habitation. Okay, normally I enjoy Jeremy’ refreshingly un-pc, tongue in cheek humour. He does go too far sometimes and he has stepped way over a line here. People are losing their lives and homes. How this can be a topic for humour is beyond me. I know the man can be bigoted, but so outright insensitive?

  1. I said he was trying to be funny overall, but wasn't.
  2. I said he was sympathetic in part of his article, which he was

My point is that if you are trying to be funny about a situation in which people are dying, communities are being destroyed and animal populations are being decimated, you are being unsympathetic to the plight of those of us affected by the fires.

He's a prize prat. I'm going to try and find the article and send it to someone I know slightly who said much the same about Australia yesterday - another bigot who said God was punishing Australia for sin as he did Sodom and Gomorrah.

You couldn't make it up, could you? I have to say I thought my acquaintance was making it up but wonder if Jeremy C has wider influence than we think.

He doesn't, but he does say that God is embarrassed by Australia [which is why he set fire to it], which is no better.

@TSSDNCOP It's disrespectful to everyone who has lost family, friends, homes, pets etc to "joke" about the whys and wherefores of fires that are devastating a whole county, either directly or indirectly!

He's trying to be funny. But why though? Why even fucking try to be funny about something that is so devastating? But keep excusing it...

It's nothing to be surprised about. His whole career has been built on this and people are prepared to pay him.

The majority will not be surprised one bit by what he has written.

He wants to shock, offend, enrage or whatever the latest PC word is. If he hasn't, he hasn't achieved what he set out to do.
