To think you can’t have two good sleepers?

Expecting my second baby. First has been a brilliant sleeper. Have this sense of dread that the second will be a different story but also hoping there’s some chance I could get lucky again! Anyone had two good sleepers?

Yes, first slept thru at 10 weeks, second at 12 weeks.
Still brilliant sleepers - now 9 and 4. Never an issue with them - unless they’re ill,

JulietTango · 04/01/2020 22:56

I had two good sleepers. I also had one horrendous one too

HollyGoLoudly1 · 04/01/2020 22:56

YANBU to worry but it does happen - my cousin has 2 amazing sleepers and a friend had to wake both of hers until toddlerhood or they would sleep for 13/14 hours at night no problem!

I can only think of those 2 examples however. My DS is terrible so I'm hoping #2 will the the good one Grin

Sparklingbrook · 04/01/2020 22:57

My two were both good sleepers after the initial newborn bit where night was day etc.

Pay off was they were both terrible eaters. Sad

DarkLikeVader · 04/01/2020 22:57

🙋🏼‍♀️ I have two good sleepers! Currently pregnant with my third DC and worrying about getting a third one though ...

NotPennysBoat · 04/01/2020 22:57

Yes both of mine are good sleepers - although I personally believe that's because I trained them so, which will be an unpopular opinion on MN!

feelingverylazytoday · 04/01/2020 22:57

Yes, of course you can. All 3 of my babies were good sleepers they all 'slept through' from about 5-6 weeks old and had naps during the day as well.

FloreanFortescue · 04/01/2020 23:00

2 awful sleepers here!! Someone here clearly got my good one Angry

notangelinajolie · 04/01/2020 23:00

Yes, I had 3. All slept through at just a few weeks old.p

Soundbyte · 04/01/2020 23:00

3 out of 4 of mine were excellent sleepers. Hoping for luck this time around too as I’m older and tired myself! Good luck Smile

antwacky · 04/01/2020 23:00

My 3 all good sleepers.

StrawberryShortbread2001 · 04/01/2020 23:02

Mine are both good sleepers!

resipsa · 04/01/2020 23:02

I had two. The second was better than the first. Routine from about week 3 was put down, say goodnight then leave. Be optimistic!

Bluewavescrashing · 04/01/2020 23:03

Mine are good sleepers, both of them. Always went back down after a feed at night from day 1, no walking them around all night. We were very lucky.

6yo loves going to bed at 7pm and is instantly asleep. 9yo messes around a bit but is usually asleep by 8.30-9pm. Very rarely one will have a nightmare or be ill in the night but they hardly ever wake.

I'm aware that we are very lucky.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 04/01/2020 23:04

3 good ones Smile

SkinnywannabeKBH · 04/01/2020 23:04

Mine were both brilliant sleepers from day dot. I was pumping for them both and hated wakening up during the night to pump whilst they slept on lol.

Daisy169 · 04/01/2020 23:05

florean I'm in the same boat! 2 shocking sleepers so someone definitely got my share! Have sleep trained the eldest though and that helped massively.

Bloatstoat · 04/01/2020 23:06

I have two awful sleepers, so somebody must get two good ones?!

Fingers crossed you'll be ok - it's really not so bad if not, my eldest didn't sleep for longer than 2 hours at a stretch until he was well over 2 and you do get used to it and survive!

Wheelerdeeler · 04/01/2020 23:07

2 here and both great. 2 year old slept 13.5 hours last night. I had to wake him this morning.

RJnomore1 · 04/01/2020 23:08

Both mine were great sleepers.

I hadn’t found MN to criticise everything so I used routine, it never occurred me you didn’t put them down to sleep or picked them up for grizzling at bed time.

We all slept well!

doyouthinkhesawme · 04/01/2020 23:09

DS1 was a brilliant sleeper. Slept through from around 12 weeks with only a few bad periods of regression.
DS2 was a devil child. Angelic in the day but would not sleep. Would sleep from 7/8-11pm and then he was done. Up every hour. We tried everything and eventually ended up co sleeping with him until he was around 2.5 just to survive. Now he's nearing 4 he's actually a good sleeper

Currently expecting DC3 and hoping karma will give us another baby like DS1

Yerbumsootthewindae · 04/01/2020 23:09

I had two good sleepers so it can happen!

Although I fear they'll both be a right handful when they hit the teenage years so I think I'll have a few years' sleep deprivation then...

Merryoldgoat · 04/01/2020 23:10

No. I’ve had two bad sleepers. Christ I’m tired.

Pleasedontdrawonyoursister · 04/01/2020 23:12

All 3 of mine have slept through (I mean 8pm-7am) by around 12 weeks! And they’re all exclusively breastfed. I was fully expecting number 3 to be a bad sleeper, but he was no problem either!! I know I’m lucky though...
