Hi everyone,

This is by no means an important issue compared to many on here but I would really appreciate your thoughts!

My husband and I went sofa shopping this afternoon and have decided on a suite we like from DFS (Navonna leather recliner). We have agreed on a 3 seater and armchair. We have also agreed that the 3 seater will be a cream colour (called biscuit). But the issue is with the chair, I really love purple (as per my user name, it’s my favourite colour!) and would like the chair in damson purple. It’s going to be in the corner of the room and not in prominent view or in anyone’s immediate eye-line. I’ve set my heart on it! I know it’s not to everyone’s taste at all. But I can’t see why the sofa and chair have to be the same neutral colour.
My husband says I’m being wacky and should just stick to neutral with both the sofa and chair in the same colour ‘like everyone else does’. He just doesn’t like to be different to the norm with things like this. Although with many other things he will say I don’t care what everyone else says or does!

My view is it would make me happy and when we move house in a year or two’s time we hope to have more space and this chair may end up in a different room anyway, so what does it matter?
Plus I’m paying for the sofa & chair ...... and my husband is going to buy some new french doors for the house.
In the end we didn’t go ahead with placing an order and just can’t agree on this!
Am I being unreasonable to want a purple armchair?!

@PullingMySocksUp - Yes we couldn’t live without (not to sound too dramatic!) a recliner sofa now. The current one is around 16 years old and falling to bits but we love it, we both use the 2 recliner seats every day and wouldn’t be comfortable using just a footstool. We both like to lie back and stretch out.

@diddl - Ha! It’s catching this purple chair syndrome! Non committal noises are better than the flat no my DH was giving me! Good luck!

@ageingdisgracefully - I agree, purple chair - Yes but DFS - No after reading the awful reviews on trust pilot. What has happened to DFS?

Life is too short for biscuit coloured furniture. Go purple - after all, you're paying!
