To consider this wedding dress

...for a relaxed country wedding? I somehow fell in love with this dress. It is completely different to what I initially wanted. We are older, already have kids, so I wanted our wedding to be a small family affair and was planning on a very plain and understated dress (which is very me, I like to blend in the background). But I just love this one and can't stop thinking about it. I have tried it on and it looked amazing. Would it clash with our setting do you think? (A rustic farm in the middle of nowhere)

Surely one of the best things about a wedding is that you can justify buying your dream dress! Please do it!

DareDevil223 · 01/01/2020 15:29

joystir59 Too revealing for my taste. I prefer more classy and demure lines

Joy by name and Joy by nature eh?

The first one is beautiful OP, go for it Smile

Yetanotherwinter · 01/01/2020 15:30

The first dress is stunning. They both are actually. I wouldn’t be put off that I’d already put a deposit on the other dress. I did the same. They just transferred the deposit to the other dress which was more expensive than the first.

Screamqueenz · 01/01/2020 15:33

It's gorgeous! Please, please, please buy it.
I was a slightly older bride second time round, tiny wedding, I still wore a dress I loved Smile

CantKeepSecrets · 01/01/2020 15:35

Yes do it! As much as your down playing it you're a bride and this is your special day and you definitely deserve to have the dress you've fell in love with Thanks

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 01/01/2020 15:36

Number 1 is beautiful and would look lovely for a country wedding

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2020 15:38

The first picture, it's beautiful.

minmooch · 01/01/2020 15:39

Definitely the first one. Both beautiful. The first one though has something just a little extra.

SilverySurfer · 01/01/2020 15:42

They are both beautiful but I like the first one.

It makes such a lovely change from the strapless ones where the boobs spill over the top. Great for the designers as they were cheap to make, not so great for some brides.

SkySmiler · 01/01/2020 15:46

First one, perfect for your day, congratulations!

Mangoandlimes · 01/01/2020 15:51

I had exactly the same situation with my dress when I got married. Picked one with family, went back for first fitting, felt really flat and didn't love it, went looking on my own again and found a dress I loved. I lost the deposit on my first dress, but honestly I am so so glad I picked the dress I loved, it's so important to be happy with what you are wearing on the day.

My family also completely agreed the second was better when they saw it a few days before the wedding btw.

ILearnedItFromABook · 01/01/2020 15:52

I think they're quite similar, though I do prefer the first one. If the money issue isn't overwhelming, you should go with what you want-- you don't get married every day!

Your family should understand that you saw this other dress, loved it, and changed your mind. If you want to, you can still involve them in some other choices-- veil/hair-do, makeup, necklace/earrings, shoes, etc.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 01/01/2020 15:59

I love the first one, it's stunning.

DickDewy · 01/01/2020 16:03

It’s lovely!

Needs good arms though...

Celticrose · 01/01/2020 16:05

Love the first dress. It's really beautiful and it has that certain something that the other is lacking imo. Your day, you are the one wearing it and looking at the photos 20 years on.

FesteredFairy · 01/01/2020 16:23

I think they both look like nightdresses.

Ikeameatballs · 01/01/2020 16:27

They are quite similar but I definitely prefer the first one. It’s just prettier!

TildaTurnip · 01/01/2020 16:31

The first one looks lovely. The second is nice too but not as special. Cannot see how either look like nightdresses!

funmummy48 · 01/01/2020 16:35

Both dresses are lovely but I think dress 2 fits your requirements better. You've had such a variety of opinions but everyone seems to agree that both dresses are lovely, so I think whichever you choose will be fine.

spingly · 01/01/2020 19:19

@joystir59 are you serious.... too much cleavage? She's a bride not a nun!

spingly · 01/01/2020 19:20

@FesteredFairy look like nightdresses, bloody hell are you from the Victorian era?

Lippy1234 · 01/01/2020 19:21

They are both lovely but the first one is nicer.

Honeyroar · 01/01/2020 19:33

They’re both lovely, fairly similar (I bet some family members won’t even notice!) but the first is a little softer and prettier. I prefer it. Your family surely won’t mind if you love it?

ClairesKimono · 01/01/2020 19:52

Adore the first dress. Get it!

seven201 · 01/01/2020 20:44

Another vote for the first dress. Your family will just want you to wear a dress you love, they won't mind that they weren't there.
