Or itching powder, or something... to stop my bloody dh using my expensive shampoo as a bloody shower gel.

He literally pours it onto a sponge thingy and soaps himself with it!

Keep one of the bottles and fill it with a supermarket shower gel, leave that out and hide your good one!

gamerchick · 29/12/2019 21:56

Think I would be tempted to tamper with an empty bottle.

Realistically, it probably needs hiding and a cheap one put out and bill him for what he's used. Cheeky git.

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 29/12/2019 21:56

But then you couldn't use it either? Confused

swapsicles · 29/12/2019 21:56

Decant your shampoo into a feminine wash container? Or equally something he wouldn't use, then just buy a cheap shampoo as decoy.
Alternatively switch to shampoo bars, can't use too much of them Smile

QuestionableMouse · 29/12/2019 21:56

That would really annoy me too! I'd decant it into another bottle and fill the expensive one with cheap shower gel. Hide your expensive shampoo!

SayNoToCarrots · 29/12/2019 21:59

Just keep it somewhere other than in the shower, and buy a £1 one to keep in the shower.

PurpleBee39 · 29/12/2019 22:00

Warn him if he does it again he will be paying for the replacement!

AnneLovesGilbert · 29/12/2019 22:01

Switch to a solid shampoo bar. I’m just finishing one I started about 5 months ago and I have masses of hair.

Not what you asked Smile

Newbameforanewdecade · 29/12/2019 22:01

@swapsicles was looking at the bars today funnily enough (he wouldn’t touch them I reckon). But I have horridly frizzy hair - hence the pricey shampoo.

It’s a smell thing I think/ he likes the smell of the shampoo so uses it as shower gel. Habe point out that it costs about 20 times the cost of bloody shower gel yet he persists

OP posts:
windycuntryside · 29/12/2019 22:02

Why do you get an expensive one and yet him cheapo?

DawnandTimForever · 29/12/2019 22:04

@windycuntryside probably because he uses it as if it's cheap shower gel and they can't afford three bottles a week!

Or different hair = different needs.

Newbameforanewdecade · 29/12/2019 22:04

@PurpleBee39 tbf he has paid for a replacement before, but still... shower gel costs what £3 - why use my bloody £30 shampoo - ok it’s a lot larger than the shower gel bottle but still...

OP posts:
speakout · 29/12/2019 22:06

Don't leave it in the shower.

Newbameforanewdecade · 29/12/2019 22:07

@windycuntryside well because we have very different hair, and also... couldn’t care less if he used my shampoo for its actual purpose - but when he pours out like a third as body wash it’s not really serving it’s hair smoothing purpose is it?

OP posts:
paranoidmum2 · 29/12/2019 22:07

If you've asked him to stop and he refuses then you have a bigger problem on your hands.

daffyducked · 29/12/2019 22:08

If it is Moroccan oil shampoo, you can now get matching soap ......❤️

Newbameforanewdecade · 29/12/2019 22:08

@speakout that’s part of the problem tbf... we have recently moved and before had a separate bath with shower which I used, then a shower cubicle. Now it’s just a single bath with a shower so one “place”. Will have to hide it and remember to take it out and put it away.

OP posts:
Newbameforanewdecade · 29/12/2019 22:11

@paranoidmum2 tbf - we share pretty much all other toiletries - including deodorants etc. I do tell him but he just doesn’t see “expensive shampoo” he sees “bath stuff”

OhTheRoses · 29/12/2019 22:16

bloody heck OP, mine gets Sainsburys shampoo and conditioner and Men's Radox for £1.50 and £1 respectively. I, on the other hand splash out on Elvive Colour something or other for £3.50 for shampoo and cond, and the M&S lemon shower gel for £3 (v similar to L'Occitane).

He doesn't use my bathroom but if we had to share I'd hide even my £3 jobbies. £30 for a bottle of shampoo - good grief.

midnightmisssuki · 29/12/2019 22:18

So take yours away when you finish washing your hair? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Newbameforanewdecade · 29/12/2019 22:19

@ontheroses he gets the bloody Elvive! I buy big tuns if kersastise type shampoos (I really do have awfully frizzy hair and have tried loads).

Shower gel - we get the radox or source for him and I like the Sainsbury’s own brand etc. Am tempted to use one of his fancy jumpers as a duster or something to l give him an idea of the waste!

Yetanotherwinter · 29/12/2019 22:20

@swapsicles I do this with my son to stop him using my expense stuff. It works. He’s washing his hair with Morrison £1 apple shampoo and thinks it’s my expensive salon shampoo 😛

Branster · 29/12/2019 22:21

Does he actually know how much it costs? He might desist once he finds out.

speakout · 29/12/2019 22:21

OP there are 5 adults in my home.
We all use the family bathroom.
I leave basic stuff out for all to use, if anyone has fancy stuff they keep it in their room or in a cupboard in the bathroom which is far enough away from the bath/shower so not handy if already in and wet.
Easier for those that are not too fussed to grab the basic stuff kept to hand in the shower.
