To want to start a national campaign called Not Everyone Likes Prosecco

I hate prosecco.
It tastes horrible.
The fizz is horrible.
I never drink it.
I tell everyone I don’t like it....

... yet every year I receive it as a Xmas present and a birthday present.

... any Xmas doo or similar I have been to there is ‘free prosecco’ wether it be handed to you at the door or is laid out on the table.

I’ve mentioned it so many times in real life that I don’t get why it’s popular, it tastes vile etc. I’ve said it in the presence of people (ie my own mum!) and yet I open the wrapping paper to find another bloody bottle of pissy prosecco.

I have a kitchen cupboard with 8 bottles in. Don’t know what to do with it.

So I just want to send the message out that
NOT EVERYONE LIKES PROSECCO.

Or NELP as I will call my campaign.

Or PAP
People against prosecco.

Prosecco used to be lovely, but I guess the huge mass production needed to keep up with demand has affected the quality. I do properly love Italian red, but Prosecco makes me ill now - just too acidic.

Had a fab New Zealand fizz over Xmas, £15 a bottle so cheaper than champagne but so, so nice. Not at all acidic, but lovely and dry and fruity.

Maybe once Prosecco is lass trendy the quality will go up again.

I think Prosecco is okay - it isn't the first thing I want to order but if someone gives me a glass, I don't run away screaming.

I do get a bit cross with a friend who will ONLY drink Prosecco as she says that everything else gives her a headache. This means that whoever she's with also has to have it (if we're drinking at home) as fizzy stuff needs to be drunk quite soon after opening.

Supposedly the "smart" Prosecco producers are considering changing their name to something else as they think their brand has been tainted. I can't remember what to though.

Can I have your 8 bottles please? Happy to take any other unwanted ones too Grin

YANBU. It's the new Babycham.

It's not a patch on good champagne!

guineapig1 · 30/12/2019 09:26

Yes but to be fair it’s not intended to compete with champagne! It’s made using a different method to start with. Still don’t like it though..,

It’s good in cocktails. Gin Prosecco is good, top it up with fizzy water and or a splash of cassis or peach juice.

I like Prosecco.

But then I also liked Babycham, Asti, Liebfraumilch, Blue Nun & Black Tower back in the day. These all became socially Naff so they gave us Prosecco instead.

I don’t like gin or other spirits. And cocktails are drinks for people who don’t want to admit that they don’t like alcohol. That’s why they are overpriced & take so long to make - any proper drinker will have downed half a bottle of wine at less cost while the cocktails are still being shaken. And no, I don’t want vegetation in my drink.
