To ask what you had for breakfast?

Lighthearted

I’ve had a few hard weeks but having cancelled all plans for the next few days, things are looking up. DH, kids and I are having some PJ days with very little effort involved.

So what wondrous feast did you have for breakfast?

I had:

1 parsnip
1 carrot poached on butter
2 roast potatoes dipped in ketchup
5 forkfuls of Black Forest Gateau
Handful of grapes
Diet Coke

Currently watching Groundhog Day and considering a second plate, maybe this time consisting of cheese.

Cracking open the cheese at 1pm.

itgetshardereveryday · 26/12/2019 12:30

A fry up and some chocolate

CloseEncountersOfTheTerfKind · 26/12/2019 12:30

Nink I was going to do it as two separate posts but thought people might not clock the same name on the second and just think I was a knob Grin

(Really I am just pre-empting the one poster who will come on and say this seriously Xmas Wink See also - why do people buy so much food for what is effectively just one day, and a glorified roast dinner)

MiniEggAddiction · 26/12/2019 12:41

Breaded camembert dipped in cranberry sauce, posh crisps and a cherry liquouor chocolate - I considered the breaded prawns until DH reminded me they'd spent most of the day sat on the coffee table in our warm sitting room.

@CloseEncountersOfTheTerfKind

It was great! 👍

For further fun and inspiration, here is what we’ve got planned for today and tomorrow:

Today:

Lunch: Guinea fowl sandwiches with all the trimmings (basically a full Christmas dinner in sandwich form, without the roast potatoes). No alcohol because we’ve got driving duties today.

Whittards ‘Christmas tea’ with Christmas cake. Biscuits (Danish butter cookies, Swedish gingerbread cookies).

Dinner: Sirloin steak with King Prawns in garlic and butter sauce, roasted courgette, cherry tomatoes and smoked garlic, duchess potatoes. Pinot noir to go with it.

Snacks and nibbles as and when throughout the evening. Probably some port and Stilton, too.

Tomorrow:

Breakfast: Nigella’s Christmas muffins, with Prosecco, Chambord and fresh raspberry.

Lunch: Smoked salmon on German grain bread, with more Prosecco.

Christmas tea and cake.

Dinner: Pasta puttanesca (so tasty!) with an Italian red.

Again, snacks and nibbles/port and cheese as and when.

Saturday or Sunday we’re doing Christmas dinner 2.0 with my daughters, with whatever meat or bird catches our fancy on our first post-Christmas shopping trip.

I love stretching Christmas out for as long as possible! Xmas Smile

Cup of normal tea with milk
Dollop of hummus with a small bit of pitta
Fruit tea
Indigestion

listsandbudgets · 26/12/2019 12:59

Left over ham, 2 fried eggs, bread and butter, 2 cups of coffee and a bowl of fruit salad and trifle

saltysally · 26/12/2019 13:03

Red pepper houmous with sweet chilli and Dorset sour cream pita chips, some mango, two cups of tea

The best bit was tipping the last little chips into the houmous pot and eating it with a spoon

Feelingfestivenow · 26/12/2019 13:03

Can of diet coke, some pork crackling just out the oven and a chock swiss roll, now having a can of larger (I never drink larger in the house???).

I am normally very sensible with what I eat!

But now eyeing up some turkey and stuffing fancy some just cold on a small plate with some cranberry sauce, then getting ready to watch the racing.....oh, just spotted some chipsticks...

EnglishRose13 · 26/12/2019 13:05

I had an apple and an orange...

And then I thought "fuck it" and had tuna mayo in a freshly baked roll.

listsandbudgets · 26/12/2019 13:05

Oh and do had a huge sandwich with about 9 pigs n blankets and ketchup.

I am not sure what the children had!! ( though those selection boxes look quite depleted and there are empty tubes of smarties under the table)

Hellhath · 26/12/2019 13:06

Half a soft white roll with butter on and the flaky bits of ham and turkey left after carving on top. Some bits of stuffing and gravy heated and thrown over it all.
2 chocolate truffles for 'pudding'

kleew1 · 26/12/2019 13:11

I had Tesco bake at home croissant and cinnamon swirls with some spicy nuts Blush

PurpleFlower1983 · 26/12/2019 13:12

Galaxy chocs, smoked salmon and cream cheese on brown toast (leftover from yesterday).
