So basically my standpoint is employers essentially pay you before Xmas.

My delightful Sc says this isn't the case, needs money urgently for presents. They do a normal 9-5 job as an apprenticeship.

Would anyone be willing to share if they got paid now please?

My company pays us on the 16th December, normally paid on the 23rd. I work for a large high street bank.

This is the first year it’s been helpful, where I’ve had my finances stable enough to know I can use some of that salary on presents. Normally I’m done before December payday.

MamaFlintstone · 24/12/2019 00:20

I get paid on last working day of the month as normal.

VerbenaGirl · 24/12/2019 00:22

Mine is always early, in both my current jobs and my two previous ones.

CrowleysBentley · 24/12/2019 00:23

DS gets his tomorrow instead of the last working day of the month. I have never been paid early, DD is getting paid after Christmas too.

Fr0g · 24/12/2019 00:30

I've worked as an interim - nearly all roles have paid a week earlier in December. Working for an organisation that keeps to usual 27th of the month this year.

BorisForPM · 24/12/2019 00:42

@Neverender Why does early December pay make January hard? Just don’t spend it, transfer it into a savings account for a week or two 🤷🏽‍♀️

StarbucksSmarterSister · 24/12/2019 00:50

Normal pay day is 25th. In December we always get paid on 18th.

ThePants999 · 24/12/2019 00:50

Our payday is the 6th and Christmas changes nothing.

Isithometimeyet0987 · 24/12/2019 01:40

I pay my employees on the last working day of the month, this year it was Saturday the 21st. I own a Performing Arts school so no classes or workshops this week and we’re not back until the 4th of January which will be a hectic day as it’s a big workshop not normal class, so hope they all get lots of rest over their break!

EBearhug · 24/12/2019 01:57

We are usually paid on the last working day of the month, but December is the last working day before Christmas, which makes January a very long month financially.

BorisForPM · 24/12/2019 02:12

which makes January a very long month financially.

No, it doesn’t.

Panpastels · 24/12/2019 02:12

Last working day for both of us

isabellerossignol · 24/12/2019 04:27

Working for an organisation that keeps to usual 27th of the month this year.

I was going to say 'how can that be, when 27th is a bank holiday?'. Then I googled and discovered that it isn't a bank holiday in England. Mind is blown! I had assumed it was a bank holiday throughout the UK.

duvetaddict · 24/12/2019 04:31

31st, same as normal

isabellerossignol · 24/12/2019 04:33

Actually, further googling has confused me even more, because 27th December is not listed as a bank holiday where I am (N Ireland) either, yet banks are always closed for three days at Christmas. Weird.

PhilCornwall1 · 24/12/2019 06:51

Normal payday for me is the 22nd, but as that was Sunday, was paid on the 20th. My wife is paid the end of each month and that's what's happening this month. It's no different just because it's December.

boredboredboredboredbored · 24/12/2019 06:54

NHS nurse usually get paid on 25th of the month but as that's a BH they paid us on 23rd. Not really early anyway so it's not too bad. I think January seems such a long month anyway as I'm usually skint!

RuthW · 24/12/2019 06:54

We get the choice.

PhilCornwall1 · 24/12/2019 06:56

We are usually paid on the last working day of the month, but December is the last working day before Christmas, which makes January a very long month financially.

I never get the logic when people say this. If you are paid earlier in December, you still have the remains of November's pay left, which is what you'd be using if the December payday didn't change. January shouldn't be an issue.

Scarylady · 24/12/2019 06:56

I got paid early and have always been paid early in any job I’ve had

iloveewanthedreamsheep · 24/12/2019 08:24

We’ve been paid already - I’ve moved it to a different account to stop it going into the festive black hole...

LouisaJenny · 24/12/2019 09:56

My payday is 24th usually, got paid 20th this year. I personally wish they wouldn’t do that as it makes Jan really tricky!

RuggerHug · 24/12/2019 09:57

If they knew they weren't being paid early they shouldn't have spent all their wages before gifts misses the point

MoreSexPleaseImBritish · 24/12/2019 10:42

I don't get paid early. In fast in 13 years of working I've only had 1 job that did.
I prefer still getting paid a t the end of the month...January is a long month otherwise

Biancadelrioisback · 24/12/2019 10:48

DH got paid last Thursday, I get paid on the last working day of the month
