So basically my standpoint is employers essentially pay you before Xmas.

My delightful Sc says this isn't the case, needs money urgently for presents. They do a normal 9-5 job as an apprenticeship.

Would anyone be willing to share if they got paid now please?

30th which is a few days early.

festivefrustration · 23/12/2019 20:47

Paid on last working day of the month as usual here.

And very glad about it!

maddiemookins16mum · 23/12/2019 20:48

Usually get paid the last day of the month, got paid this month on the 20th.
I do however move it to another account until the day I usually get paid.

bridgetreilly · 23/12/2019 20:48

Normal pay day 25th or last working day before that if it's a weekend/bank holiday. Got paid today.

lottieleo · 23/12/2019 20:49

I work in the NHS, the trust I'm with pay a few days early before Christmas.

bridgetreilly · 23/12/2019 20:49

But it is entirely at the company's discretion if they choose to pay early for Christmas. Most don't, in my experience.

TrashPanda · 23/12/2019 20:50

We usually get paid second to last working day of the month, being paid tomorrow this month.

Rose789 · 23/12/2019 20:51

Second last working day so the 30th December here.

Shesalittlemadam · 23/12/2019 20:59

@Pfefferkuchen Anyone buying any Christmas stuff on December pay (so end of December) is nuts. Ha! Easy to say if you're in a position to buy earlier! Not all of us are able to. also some of us are single parents with no other wage coming in. I personally have too many other things going on like birthdays & other expenses in the months leading up to Xmas and buying before then guarantees my DC will change their mind/interests by the time Xmas arrives! I have no choice but to rely on my december wage.

Please stop being so judgemental and goady

strawberry2017 · 23/12/2019 21:03

I got paid today, usual pay day is 27th or month

mrsm43s · 23/12/2019 21:04

I get paid on my usual payday. As it happens, its before Christmas.

Surely if you're living hand-to-mouth (which you must be to need to be paid early for Christmas presents), then having a 6-7 week month in January due to being paid early wouldn't be manageable.

You need to budget for Christmas a little bit month by month. It's not an unexpected event.

dontcallmeduck · 23/12/2019 21:04

I did, DH didn’t.

QueenofPain · 23/12/2019 21:05

I normally get paid on the last working day of the month, I will get paid tomorrow as a one of for December.

Pfefferkuchen · 23/12/2019 21:07

Shesalittlemadam

If you are struggling so much you can't buy anything earlier, HOW will you survive January which is a very long month when you are being paid early. It's not being goady to point out the obvious. Not a great way to start a year if you are already in debt because of Christmas!

TigerOnATrain · 23/12/2019 21:07

@PaganPriestess

Sorry but if you're THAT desperate for money for Christmas presents that you need your wages early, you have a LOT more to worry about than not getting your pay early!

How are you going to pay next month's bills?

greenlavender · 23/12/2019 21:10

Nope, I get paid at the end of the month as normal.

Thefaceofboe · 23/12/2019 21:10

No I get paid as normal, 2nd of jan

Cherrysoup · 23/12/2019 21:11

In teaching, I’ve always been paid last working day, so whenever we broke up. It’s not the case in all sectors, tho, he needs to check with the employer. No harm in asking.

Celebelly · 23/12/2019 21:11

DH doesn't. Works for local authority

Crunchymum · 23/12/2019 21:16

Mine was very early this year (20th). Usually 26th. 23rd would have been a good compromise.

BusterGonad · 23/12/2019 21:17

Why do you not believe what your SC is saying?
Also to the poster who's says 'no one urgently needs money to buy presents' what planet are you on?

Redglitter · 23/12/2019 21:18

I got paid today instead of 28th (Police) I'm ignoring it though and not touching it til 28th as usual.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/12/2019 21:24

Usual end of the month here, but DP got paid today and is usually the 25th.

MitziK · 23/12/2019 21:26

50:50 on the jobs I've had. Where I was working for a sole trader, he made me wait until mid January whilst he went on holiday, as he couldn't handle the concept of giving people 'his' money early.

Cotswoldmama · 23/12/2019 21:29

When I was paid monthly it was always early. Now I'm paid weekly and it's a day late due to the bank holiday so on Friday instead of Thursday.
