So basically my standpoint is employers essentially pay you before Xmas.

My delightful Sc says this isn't the case, needs money urgently for presents. They do a normal 9-5 job as an apprenticeship.

Would anyone be willing to share if they got paid now please?

I get paid on the last working day of the month. But we close for Christmas which makes the last working day of the month earlier in December. 20th this year.

LiviaSoprano · 23/12/2019 20:28

We usually get paid on the 25th but get paid a week early in December.

highheelsandweathercocks · 23/12/2019 20:31

I get paid on the last working day, so it'll be NYE for me. Whilst it would be lovely to buy a couple of last minute presents, they aren't essential and it would make January long and tight.

MeganChips · 23/12/2019 20:32

I’ll get paid on the 27th as usual.

highheelsandweathercocks · 23/12/2019 20:32

DH is last working day too and he'll also get paid as usual.

gingerninja99 · 23/12/2019 20:33

My husband gets paid usually on the last Thurs of the month, always gets paid just before Xmas
I get paid on the last working day of the month and always at the end of Dec, never early

Pfefferkuchen · 23/12/2019 20:33

There's no rule. They have to pay you on time, some pay early

Some people are not happy about early pay, they spend it too quickly and struggle in January.

Anyone buying any Christmas stuff on December pay (so end of December) is nuts.

backouch · 23/12/2019 20:33

You really think all companies do this? Some do, not all at all!

Dazedandconfused10 · 23/12/2019 20:34

Nope paid on 31st Dec

sophiestew · 23/12/2019 20:34

I get paid on the usual day in December.

I prefer this as otherwise January is soooo hard.

JaceLancs · 23/12/2019 20:35

Pay day 28th normally
I ask what people want - those who do want it early were the majority this year so I paid on 20th instead

safariboot · 23/12/2019 20:35

I got paid today. Usually pay is last Thursday of the month so that's a few days early. I work for a company that almost completely closes from just before Christmas to just after New Year.

JasonPollack · 23/12/2019 20:36

Have you had many jobs @PaganPriestess

AdelaideK · 23/12/2019 20:37

I'm a civil servant and we never get paid early. Last working day of December here.

Do you not believe what your SC is telling you?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 23/12/2019 20:38

We used to get paid before Christmas and then were asked if we wanted to change so now it’s as normal and last working day of the month

CurtainTwitch · 23/12/2019 20:40

Last working day for me & DH

Madvixen · 23/12/2019 20:40

I've never been paid early in either the private or the public sector. I'll get paid on the 31st Dec as usual

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 23/12/2019 20:41

Mine does but I put it in a savings account until dec 31st.

Musereader · 23/12/2019 20:41

Work for DWP still get paid last working day which is 31st.

Benefit claimants get paid tomorrow if due Wednesday or Thursday.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 23/12/2019 20:43

Normal paid date is 25th. In December ours pays a few days early, this year on 20th. Usually it's before final weekend so you can go shop.

HappyAsASandboy · 23/12/2019 20:44

Last day of the month for me, and no different in December.

sameasiteverwasantiques · 23/12/2019 20:45

I got paid on the 19th.

HomeAlone39 · 23/12/2019 20:45

Yeah we got paid on the 23rd

Sparklesocks · 23/12/2019 20:46

Some companies do, but some don’t. You wouldn’t really be able to know for sure about whether or not a specific employer pays early in December by taking a survey of who has been paid early by other employers.

Todaythiscouldbe · 23/12/2019 20:46

We were asked this year, half of the company wanted to be paid early, so it will be tomorrow, half on normal payday, the 28th (27th this month)
