Lip Fillers

What the fuck are these young women doing to their lips?

Saw a girl in Lidl today who clearly had naturally thin lips. Had a huge fillet in her top lip. All it looks like is someone with a huge filler, not someone with lovely generous lips, see it all the time and it looks horrific.

What happens when they hit 40?

How much does it cost?

Why are we all injecting shit into our faces?

I have lip fillers.

Not to the extent of some of the people pictured on these threads but I have no doubt that some people can probably ‘detect’ that I have.

I’m not embarrassed and much prefer my face with them. I had no top lip at all, when I smiled it disappeared and my face looked strange and out of proportion.

As long as I’m happy that’s all I care about!

BitOfFun · 22/12/2019 21:00

thenightsky, no, it can't. Your friend would just look like her resting bitch face had earned her a fat lip.

gypsywater · 22/12/2019 21:00

@Freesunglasses yep, fully dissolvable :) this is licensed fillers tho...god knows what is even in unlicensed ones eeek.

NewMumBGentle · 22/12/2019 21:03

meanie

SuntanC · 22/12/2019 21:04

Another filler bashing thread? Seriously? I've had filler and I love it. Leave people alone for crying out loud.

Haworthia · 22/12/2019 21:04

I wish fillers weren't so cheap. Maybe fewer women would mutilate their faces if it more unattainable.

Look at Fearne McCann from TOWIE. So much filler in her top lip it’s formed a shelf and is migrating up towards her nose.

Where is it dissolved to though? Matter in your body doesn't magically disappear, it either gets absorbed and stored in your body or processed by your liver as a toxin and excreted. No one actually knows the long term health implications. Pip breast implants were deemed safe and licensed until the dangers became apparent years later.

I don’t understand why women feel the need to make their mouths look like baboon’s arses.
Saw a young lady in a restaurant recently who literally couldn’t put her lips together as they were so augmented and she couldn’t speak properly.
Why???

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 22/12/2019 21:09

I’ve heard people go to lip filler parties

My young cousin started getting lip fillers last year. She’s a really beautiful girl, doesn’t need them at all. I think she looked better before.

Lifeaback · 22/12/2019 21:11

The problem isn’t people getting lip fillers- it’s people getting them done by beauticians who have had no more than a few hours training. When administered correctly using the right product by a qualified medical practitioner with sufficient anatomical knowledge, lip fillers are undetectable.

Aside from the awful sausage lip look, the potential complications from having fillers administered incorrectly are terrifying- google vascular occlusion. If the person performing the treatment accidentally injects into a vein (easily done when you haven’t spent 5+ years studying anatomy) the filler blocks the blood supply to the surrounding tissue, causing it to literally turn black and die. Really not worth the risk for saving money.

I have always wished my top lip was a bit bigger. Long before social media was even a thing. I was reluctant to get filler injected because had seen so many people who (in my opinion) it made look ridiculous, but after lots of research I discovered that by no means does filler need to look fake. I’ve now had them done twice and not a single soul has noticed- even my beady eyed mother who is the first to notice any and every change I make to my appearance (& call me out on it!). However the number of people who have commented on how well I’m looking since having them done is remarkable. Having them tweaked has enhanced the other features of my face and not to mention boosted my confidence hugely.

90schic · 22/12/2019 21:11

I personally have no problem with people changing their appearance with fake nails, fake hair, fake lips, fake tits... whatever they want! It makes no odds to me and if it makes them feel good than who am I to judge? Live and let live. Bloody hell even the ancient Egyptians kohl rimmed their eyes... people have been changing their appearance for CENTURIES... corsets, white face chalk, you name it. It’s not a new thing, it’s not a ‘young people thing’ ... it’s a HUMAN thing. Get off your high horses

gypsywater · 22/12/2019 21:12

Filler and the dissolvant are chemicals that are also naturally found in the body (unlike implants!)

gypsywater · 22/12/2019 21:13

@Lifeaback well said

Sammi38 · 22/12/2019 21:14

They always look so unnatural!

Fake lips have that weird ridge above the top lip.

BitOfFun · 22/12/2019 21:17

I'm genuinely pleased you're happy with the result, Lifeaback. My opinions on lip fillers generally are more about young women in their late teens and early twenties who obliterate their natural good looks out of insecurity and a desire to conform to an Instagram aesthetic.

Lifeaback · 22/12/2019 21:37

Here’s my before and after picture from the website of the clinic I visited. Just wanted to leave this here to show fillers don’t always look fake. It’s this new trend of pumping as much cheap product in, by someone who hasn’t spent years mastering the correct techniques, that create fake looking lips.

NoOneNeedsToKnowThis · 22/12/2019 21:43

@lifeaback they look really good! Very natural looking.

sausagefingersH · 22/12/2019 21:45

I've had lip fillers but mine are not noticable. As I've got older my top lip has thinned so I've been having 0.5ml every 6 months for the last two years.

I hate the duck look and mine are nice and natural and just enhance what I have. I don't like the obviously done look - some people really go for that look. Here's my before and after.

Lifeaback your lips were lovely before- you have changed them, but not improved, in my opinion. In future, I think you should save your money.

RainRainGoAwayComeAgain · 22/12/2019 21:56

I went out with my husband on Friday, we don't really go out anymore but one thing we both commented on was how the girls/women looked. There was a group of 20 something girls and every single one had over inflated lips, my husband turned to me and said what on earth are women doing to themselves, it doesn't look good! They really didn't!

brummiesue · 22/12/2019 21:57

@Lifeaback you can definitely tell they have been filled!

beautifulstranger101 · 22/12/2019 22:02

I have lip fillers. I love them and I will never stop getting them! I have the most beautiful lips now and get lots of compliments from people telling me I have "michelle pfeiffer lips" without knowing they aren't natural. But I go to someone very experienced and researched very well beforehand. You get what you pay for.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 22/12/2019 22:06

Most people's top lip is much smaller than their bottom one. Perfectly equal, plump lips often look fake.

sausagefingers, the filler in the second pic has cancelled out your lovely defined Cupid's bow. In the 1920s and 1930s, your natural lip line was the one everyone wanted.

AuntSpiker · 22/12/2019 22:06

I don't want to be mean but Lifeaback they definitely look filled.

Deadringer · 22/12/2019 22:09

It's very clear from this thread that people have very different views on what nice, natural lips look like.
