To think that there are too many personal insults and attacks on Tory voters

I’m really sick of it now. I don’t log on here to be called a cunt, told I hate disabled people and want to ruin the NHS.

I’m interested as to whether others feel the same or if it is just me. If it’s just me, I think I’ll piss off.

I’d rather be a cunt Tory voter than a labour voter. This thread epitomises why.

Racoonworld · 23/12/2019 12:13

I completely agree, the language and insults people are using are awful. People have a right to be upset if the vote didn't go the way they want, but shouldn't be insulting others who have a different opinion to them. Just because you voted Labour doesn't mean you are morally superior, I actually believe voting Labour would be worse for disabled, NHS etc. in the long run.

I also do not want a party who are associated with these people who use language like this against others to run our country! (I didn't vote Conservative or Labour for info)

Alsohuman · 23/12/2019 12:15

I’d genuinely like to know how you work that one out.

MaButterface · 23/12/2019 12:31

Wow @GailCindy. Breathtakingly ignorant.

So when you are 70+ you can't get to vote for how your healthcare is governed. Please dont vote until you grow a brain. Thanks.

Baaaahhhhh · 23/12/2019 12:39

think they are too old and born into times where it was okay to be racist

So, my dad, who actually isn't still alive, but if he was, would be 96, who volunteered to fight the Nazi's, freed Jews from death camps, and married an Italian, was a racist. Right.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/12/2019 12:54

2 decades of cuts means that there's hardly anyone left at the council/DWP etc to answer the phone

Sorry, but I'm still chuckling over this one - as good an illustration as I've seen of baseless hyperbole

I don't pretend to speak for others, but our own Council, in addition to the usual reception desk, has installed a "take a ticket and wait" system. For this, they're using FIVE people ... two to greet visitors, one to stand by the simple ticket machine and tell folk what to do, one to indicate the waiting area and the fifth to point the way back to the exit. They've all got practically nothing to do, but all buzz around getting under visitors' feet in attempt to look busy and justify their non-jobs

There isn't space here - or on the entire internet, come to that - to list all the other areas of almost criminal waste, but it goes without saying that this is also a Council who are loud in their protests about "the evil cuts" and how they simply haven't got any money

Don't make me laugh

GailCindy · 23/12/2019 12:55

They are only still working because the Tory's have forced them to either to support the younger generations or themselves. Those swinging hippies have turned into racist bigots.

The fact that you think marrying an Italian means you aren't racist shows that you've a long way to go before you can judge anything.

catx1606 · 23/12/2019 12:56

Drabarni

So you're condoning name calling and throwing personal insults? There is no excuse for it. As far as I'm concerned, once someone resorts to name calling in any debate etc they've lost the argument.

GailCindy · 23/12/2019 12:59

@Puzzledandpissedoff

You do realise that some of those people doing those jobs had jobs within departments that were cut or no longer exist? Theyd probably have been the main receptionist/admin for some sort of subdepartment and have been moved to Usher somewhere else. That's what happened in my council anyway. The woman I used to speak to all the time who was an admin in the SEND department in my LEA now works front desk in parking where there is computerised check in. She speaks to about 1 in 10 of the people who come through the door. There's usually 2 of them on the desk. She had the job in SEN for 20+ years after being a TA for years before that.

C8H10N4O2 · 23/12/2019 13:01

Those swinging hippies have turned into racist bigots

Sorry I thought you said they were universially racist bigots because of the generation they were born into?

Are you now saying they were not born bigots but became bigots due to exessive proximity to flower power and socially liberal attitudes?

AutumnRose1 · 23/12/2019 13:01

Gail what’s the criteria for not being racist please?

catx1606 · 23/12/2019 13:01

I think a lot of people are getting insulted no matter who they voted for and its totally unacceptable. We're all grown adults yet the amount of nasty vile comments I've seen, not only on here but social media as well is horrendous.

We should all be able to discuss a topic without resorting to name calling and accept that people will always think differently. The moment someone resorts to name calling, they've lost the argument.

C8H10N4O2 · 23/12/2019 13:04

The fact that you think marrying an Italian means you aren't racist shows that you've a long way to go before you can judge anything

Hmm, edits out the bit about volunteering to fight Nazis, freeing Jews from death camps just to leave in the Italian marriage. Nice bit of misrepresentation of what the poster actually said.

I've got it - You are Kerry Mendoza in disguise and ICM5UK !

GailCindy · 23/12/2019 13:05

@Alsohuman

People shouldn't pay tax past retirement age on income up to high tax threshold and minimal tax after that.

GoodbyeRosie · 23/12/2019 13:05

If you voted Conservative, then you have voted for a PROVEN racist , homophobic , lying bigot that wants to dismantle the NHS, and for a party that has taken police of the streets and caused endless hardship for those most in need.

Let's just say if you voted Conservative, the least you can admit to is being a heartless bigot.

Drabarni · 23/12/2019 13:05

My parents are well gone, no way were they racist, in fact the opposite.
Racism appears in all walks of life and all ages.

I think if a particular party aims to harm your family through racism and ethnic cleansing you have a right to call those who voted what you like.
They aren't the ones who will be homeless and kids taken into care.
The only party to be so overtly racist are the Conservatives and I hope they rot in hell.

GailCindy · 23/12/2019 13:07

Lots if people signed up for nationalism and opportunity of career and happened to fight wars against oppressors in the meantime. Doesn't mean they are anti-racist or not capable.of prejudice now. My Grandad fought in the war and had this special bravery badge. He used to call our black neighbours the Coons and tell me I was a filthy slut for talking to them..

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 23/12/2019 13:08

And yes, a man in his 80s will be dead so soon that he shouldn't have a vote in my book.

So how about people who a terminally ill? "Sorry mate, but you'll be kicking that bucket soon, no ballot paper for you".

No pregnant women either, because living birth can be risky. No obese people, no smokers. Who else?

Are you for real GailCindy?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/12/2019 13:09

You do realise that some of those people doing those jobs had jobs within departments that were cut or no longer exist?

I'm afraid not, GailCindy; they were advertised for (and filled) externally

GailCindy · 23/12/2019 13:12

@ChardonnaysDistantCousin

I said earlier that it should only be old people excluded as it is easiest to legislate.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 23/12/2019 13:12

drabarni you accused the conservatives of ethnic cleansing before and people asked you to explain. Apologies if I missed your explanation but can you say what you are talking about please.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 23/12/2019 13:13

I said earlier that it should only be old people excluded as it is easiest to legislate.

Thanks for the clarification, makes perfect sense now.

Hmm
GailCindy · 23/12/2019 13:13

@Puzzledandpissedoff

Its convenient how much people know about things on MN. Either way, the distribution of funds shows the mismanagement of money under the current councils. That's the fault of the Government. The buck stops with them.
.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/12/2019 13:21

Its convenient how much people know about things on MN

Why, please? In response to your perfectly sensible suggestion about where the staff might have been sourced, I'd have thought you'd appreciate a perfectly sensible reply about what actually happened ... unless you resent the fact that it doesn't suit of course?

And why is local council mismanagement of funds the fault of central government - unless you mean that Westminster should be cracking down on them? In which case good luck with that, especially if the party in government happens to be a different one to who controls the council!!

MissConductUS · 23/12/2019 13:27

@Drabarni

I think if a particular party aims to harm your family through racism and ethnic cleansing you have a right to call those who voted what you like.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_cleansing

The Final Report of the Commission of Experts established pursuant to Security Council Resolution 780 defined ethnic cleansing as "a purposeful policy designed by one ethnic or religious group to remove by violent and terror-inspiring means the civilian population of another ethnic or religious group from certain geographic areas".

When did the Tories do this?
