I have some last min Xmas wrapping to do which I dread 😩
Pick up veg from Tesco ready for the big day and the turkey/sausage meat from the butchers.
Drop off some presents to extended family whom are not with us this Christmas.
& then to lounge about with my 10month old DD and see how many times we can watch frozen on repeat before DH pulls the last remaining hairs he has left from his head 😁

OP posts:

Am I being unreasonable?

We did our Christmas grocery shop this morning and I made Christmas cookies all afternoon. (American and we eat cookies instead of a pudding.) Tomorrow we're prepping all the food that will need to go in the oven over Christmas Eve and day and cleaning a bit around the flat.

Spacerader · 21/12/2019 20:44

Today was spent doi g the christmas shop, followed by panic buying a new microwave as ours decided to break. Me and dp then done the christmas house clean (you know the one where you clean every inch of your house and de clutter so your house looks like a show home for christmas day even though no one is coming over for christmas). And I've just finished off most of the wrapping, but run out of paper so need to go panic buy more tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will panic buy wrapping paper. Give the garden a hose down. I'll change all the bedding while dp goes to the barbers. Then off to see family when the children come home from their dads.

Monday dp is in work, so I'm taking the children out for lunch and ice skating before chilling out for the rest of the day.

SabineUndine · 21/12/2019 20:47

I'm lying around with a lousy cold.

DoubleHelix79 · 21/12/2019 20:56

Moved house today - tomorrow will be mainly unpacking boxes and trying to find the water meter. Fun fun fun.

Bouledeneige · 21/12/2019 21:02

Friday I went to a gallery with my DD and then we went to the cinema to see Knives Out. Today, I went to see my elderly Dad and then my DD and I went on a drive to do a few errands - decorations and sauces.

Tomorrow tidying and pottering, getting a gift for my friend's birthday.

dementedma · 21/12/2019 21:02

Today was food shopping , icing the cake and cleaning the oven.
Tomorrow pick up my brother from the airport and niece arrives for an overnight before taking her to the airport the next day.
Otherwise, all sorted

From 6am until now... alternated between playing with dd (18 mths) and running to toilet (pregnant and nauseaus).

sanityisamyth · 21/12/2019 21:04

Made really bad gingerbread Christmas trees today and going to a Santa Special train tomorrow. DS (5) is oblivious to the train so that'll be a good surprise hopefully. Just getting over flu though so not been up to doing much else really.

VestaTilley · 21/12/2019 21:08

Bought and decorated the tree, doing last of Christmas cards (won't get there in time, but oh well), making paper chains, drinking sherry and starting the food/treats shop. Church in the morning.

Devaki · 21/12/2019 21:12

Christmas food shop done.
Need to finish wrapping - tomorrow night hopefully.
Clean the house - just to a reasonable standard so I don't feel I'm sitting in a shit tip.
I'm working Christmas Day so we're celebrating on Boxing Day just the 5 of us.

emmetgirl · 21/12/2019 21:14

I own a cafe bar so I'm working!

Thorilicious · 21/12/2019 21:22

Had a funeral yesterday for a family member, so desperately trying to find my Christmas spirit!

belay · 21/12/2019 21:42

Star Wars. Everything else comes second and third place

itsgettingweird · 21/12/2019 22:40

MsSquiz she's gorgeous. Congratulations. I guess Christmas will be all about the newborn cuddles Grin

itsgettingweird · 21/12/2019 22:44

Today my Asda order came. 7 subs and no GF bread!

Took some subs (tablecloth etc) and refused GF apple pies and GF donuts instead of the GF Xmas stuff I wanted!

I needed a few bits and to get Gf stuff so DS and i were heading into town tomorrow.

Instead we decided to go to Tesco at 9pm! It was lovely and quiet and all last bits got!

Tomorrow - last of wrapping and washing all bedding.

Monday - DS going with my mum and nephew to Xmas library thing and baking. I'm meeting friends at tea room for adult chats and coffee.

Tuesday - have guests all afternoon.

Wednesday- go to parents for afternoon.

Thursday - hibernating Grin

I’ve wrapped the last of the family presents today and taken dc and ddog for a wintry walk. Tomorrow I’ll tidy round, chuck some extra decorations up and finish some admin bits to clear the way for Christmas. Then possibly NT with dc if there’s time/ a Christmas movie if not. After they’re in bed I’ll wrap the Santa presents for the eldest 2 (youngest 2 are done) with a Baileys.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 21/12/2019 23:03

I'm sitting in the paediatric high dependency unit of our local hospital with 4 month old DD. She was only discharged from hospital 3 weeks ago having required life support for a week in November, and is back in with the same bloody thing again. I'm so gutted, after the horror that was last month I was SO looking forward to Christmas, toddler DS and DH and I so excited.

On that note, please can the collective hive mind that is Mumsnet all send out your best vibes to will it that I get my baby girl home for Christmas. It's all I want.

Honeyroar · 21/12/2019 23:07

Fingers crossed for you @NoIDontWatchLoveIsland and Best wishes.

OhTheRoses · 21/12/2019 23:10

NoIdon'twatchloveisland what rotten luck. Sending virtual get well vibes Flowers

Bellasblankexpression · 21/12/2019 23:37

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland sending you ALL the good luck vibes, your poor little DD and poor you. Hopefully she will rally in time for Christmas - is the prognosis looking like that could be possible? Will keep everything crossed that she’s back at home with you and in much better health very soon.

Howmanysleepsnow · 21/12/2019 23:45

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland sending positive vibes.

OhBigHairyBollocks · 21/12/2019 23:46

FIL died suddenly yesterday.
Two small DCs and not one of us want to celebrate. 😭😭😭😭😭

Shooturlocalmethdealer · 21/12/2019 23:55

Wrapping loads of presents.
Cleaning house.
Buying Christmas eve snacks for our home.
Going to DIL, mothers, sisters before christmas.
Seeing lights and santa with gc.
Exhausted already.

HicDraconis · 22/12/2019 00:06

Started work 0830 Saturday morning.
Left work 0900 Sunday morning.
Approximately 30 min break for lunch and 10 min break for supper, otherwise working throughout.

Managed 2h sleep until DH “forgot I was sleeping” and called upstairs to one of the boys. Now in bed feeling shattered, tearful, sleepy but can’t drop off again, pissed off with DH and not looking forward to having to do it again tomorrow.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 22/12/2019 00:08

OBHB you poor things I am so sorry. Do the DC know which day is xmas day? Can you quietly postpone the festivities a few days until perhaps you are a little more able to manage it?
