I have some last min Xmas wrapping to do which I dread 😩
Pick up veg from Tesco ready for the big day and the turkey/sausage meat from the butchers.
Drop off some presents to extended family whom are not with us this Christmas.
& then to lounge about with my 10month old DD and see how many times we can watch frozen on repeat before DH pulls the last remaining hairs he has left from his head 😁

OP posts:

Am I being unreasonable?

We've just dug all of the dc's Xmas books out so we are going to snuggle on the sofa and read those.

After that we are going to have hot chocolates and watch polar express.

Then the work starts. We always bag up a load of old toys to leave out for Santa on Xmas eve to take to other boys and girls who might like them now (they actually go to the charity shop)

I then need to gut the house from top to bottom (it's an absolute pig sty) and do all the extra Xmas cleaning jobs like clean out the fridge, do the oven, clean skirting boards etc. (I don't just do this at Xmas btw)

Tonight the dc are staying at my dgm house so I can finish the Xmas gift shopping.

Tomorrow we are going to make snow globes and bake Xmas cookies for Santa.

Then when dc go to bed tomorrow I'm going to watch it's a wonderful life and finishing wrapping.

MinnieMountain · 21/12/2019 09:55

Brunch then pantomime.
DH will take DS to visit DH's DGM whilst I have a swim.
DH has his hockey team night out tonight.
Tomorrow I'm taking DS for a bike ride. DH will join us once he's recovered.
We've also got to finish packing as we're going to Spain on Monday to visit FIL and SMIL.

Iwasneveragoddess · 21/12/2019 09:59

Alone 😥 but going out with friends tonight.

DH not home till Xmas day eve 😥

Meaning I have to do EVERYTHING.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 21/12/2019 10:03

making a ginger bread house with DD
cleaning out guinea pigs
parcel collecting
waiting for delivery of my new chaise
tomorrow
replacing all the christmas goodies that we shamelessly ate last night
Other than that a quiet weekend and child free tomorrow too! Result!!

wishing4sun · 21/12/2019 10:05

Working sat, sun, mon tues, shopping very early Monday morning and wrapping presents at some point. Hoping the trains are running properly so my boyfriend can get here without to much hassle.

echt · 21/12/2019 10:07

Today I went to an exhibition and had lunch with DD in town. We sorted out Christmas dinner, what she would bring (potato salad and pickles) and I would provide (seafood) and make (raspberry sorbet).

Tomorrow I'll be gardening and my book club.

Monday do the big annual carpet deep clean.

Tuesday put up the deckers/tree.

OneKeyAtATime · 21/12/2019 10:19

I am normally always rushing around so I am deliberately taking things slow over the holidays, dedicating quality time to each member of the family. Started stuffing my face too

LBOCS2 · 21/12/2019 10:21

ALL THE STUFF.

So I will be assembling furniture, wallpapering a chimney breast (fx the plaster dries in time 😬) cleaning cleaning cleaning, ready for sofas to arrive on Monday.

We will also be finalising the Christmas food order, cleaning and tidying the rest of the house, and getting last minute shopping. Oh, and wrapping everything.

Monday and Tuesday we have fun things planned but this weekend it's all systems go on getting the house vaguely ready for use!

PosiePie · 21/12/2019 10:22

Work(ed) Thurs, Fri and Sat nights, off Sun but will spend a couple of hours in bed in the morning (kidding myself I've had a lie in ignoring the fact I haven't actually been to bed yet) and then washing, cleaning, shopping as usual for days off, a little Christmas for me and DD, ridiculously hurried wrapping and panic buying Mon and Tues morning and then back on nights for 5 on Christmas Eve.
New year off though and a family wedding to attend so I'll take the 5 nights Christmas week without a moan - new year off in hospitality is rare!

RhymingRabbit3 · 21/12/2019 10:24

Doing a run to the tip and the charity shop to clear out some stuff. General tidying up and sorting.

Last minute christmas crafts with DD (age 2 1/2) and seeing some family members who we havent managed to fit in over the Christmas period as we have a very big family!

Namestranger · 21/12/2019 10:25

Windsurfing at the beach with DP (we're in West Aus on hols). Doesn't feel like Xmas over here. Not just because if the heat but generally less mania/adverts etc.

OhTheRoses · 21/12/2019 10:27

Pottering and getting everything ready for Wednesday. Wrapping, supermarket delivery of all the non perishables. I have the cleaners here doing a deep clean. Have broken up now until 2nd Jan. MIL arrives tomorrow.

Mainly recharging batteries as am exhausted.

Harriett123 · 21/12/2019 10:27

I might also ice my Christmas cake today depending on how energetic I'm feeling

gabsdot45 · 21/12/2019 10:32

Today is my son's 16th birthday so we're throwing a party tonight for him . I'll have about 20 teenagers in the house.
All the Christmas prep is done.

ineedto · 21/12/2019 10:36

In Edinburgh since Thursday night but driving home this evening. Having brunch soon then a wander around the shops, Christmas market and lots of coffee!

Tomorrow we have our annual festive open house. Gin fizz cocktails, lots wine, nice food, friends and music. Can't wait!

Allthepinkunicorns · 21/12/2019 10:39

We are going for a festive afternoon tea today. When we get back we will probably just slob on the sofa watching Christmas films tomorrow. On Sunday I will do a big clean ready for Wednesday and finish wrapping the last presents and then relax in the evening.

Honeyroar · 21/12/2019 10:41

Having our Xmas dinner this weekend as I’m working Xmas. So frantically cleaning etc as I only got back from a 9 day work trip last night! Oh and hopefully the part for the oven will arrive today and my husband can fit it!!!

elliejjtiny · 21/12/2019 10:41

Today dh will be wrapping presents while I clean the kitchen and try to finish the pre Christmas declutter and getting rid of old toys to make room for the new ones.

Sunday the in-laws are coming round so I will peel a million potatoes while dh does the rest of the roast dinner. Then hopefully we can relax while the dc s play in the garden with their cousins.

MitziK · 21/12/2019 10:47

Been awake since just after 6am, as DP got up for work and decided to suffocate me use copious amounts of cheap body spray in the spare room because he got up too late for a shower and then walk back into the bedroom carrying a thick miasma of Teenage Boy to get his phone.

Briefly considered going to Lidl to see whether it was quiet at 8am, but discounted that on the grounds that I couldn't be arsed I needed coffee and a shower first.

Got downstairs to realise that the house is an utter shit tip and it's not showing the fucking hideous Christmas decorations DP has lovingly purchased and adorned the house with to great effect. So I'm cleaning out the DTwatCats' shit box whilst they squabble like two spoiled children on December 28th because it's pissing down and is barely daylight outside.

The rest of the morning will consist of cleaning.

I might meet DP from work, but his main interest other than staying in the pub given half a chance will be avoiding the town centre and getting home. I'll then be trying to persuade him to clean the sodding kitchen properly and then, hopefully, he'll come with me to a gig this evening if it's not pissing down again.

The only things I really need to do that are Christmas related are -

Buying him a couple of things to open on the day, as the few pairs of trunks/boxers he has are essentially ball hangers, they're so threadbare and I've been throwing out them and knackered socks for months until I realised if I did any more, he'd be going to work bare bollocked and footed, neither of which are in his list of Acceptable Work Attire. He wants an electric razor as his main present, but we've agreed that can wait until they are (hopefully) reduced after the 25th.

Getting some form of dead bird for dinner, plus the veggies and accompaniments I like. And his blasted lump of pig for gammon for the rest of the winter week. He has to come along for that. I am not suffering alone, even though it's not that bad going first thing Christmas Eve, as it means we're leaving just as the rest of the world gets there.

joystir59 · 21/12/2019 10:58

Going library to get new books, getting some fruit from the market, new dog harness and dog treats (presents for our dog, friend's dog). Then second dog walk with partner who us taking baby steps after surgery, then Prime Video

joystir59 · 21/12/2019 11:00

No wrapping cos no presents this year (no kids here)

BritWifeinUSA · 21/12/2019 11:09

Flying to England to spend Christmas with my mum.

Heymummee · 21/12/2019 11:15

DS1 wants a “Christmassy smelling candle” so we’re off to go and get that today.
Then I’m going to go and get a bit of the food shopping, things like chocolates, nuts, crisps, mixers. I’m leaving the main shop for Monday and collecting the turkey. Other than that I need to try and bring some semblance of order to this shit tip of a house, drink wine and watch Christmas films! I’m wrapping presents late on Christmas Eve, it’s my tradition.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 21/12/2019 11:20

currently sitting in bed feeling sorry for myself - had a small procedure Thursday (supposed to be home within an hour) but ended up staying in hospital until yesterday 8pm.

got to wrap presents and tidy the house but feel crappy still 😣 and I haven't done the food shop yet....

BarbedBloom · 21/12/2019 11:25

Doing very little and watching some of the Witcher. Manic day yesterday and manic day Monday ahead. DH doesn't want to go out as it is his first weekend off in a while and he is shattered.
