I have just briefly googled JKR Twitter (on computer) and EVERY single first response for about 50 Tweets is anti-women/anti-JKR/anti-truth etc

This is TOTALLY different from when I looked at it earlier. There are some really fucked up girl/women hating men working at Twitter.

She's got 147k likes and 28.7k retweets compared to 27.6k comments - and many of those comments are supportive. The Wokerati have utterly failed to ratio her, and I suspect that in itself is feeding into the savagery against her (as well as the usual misogyny)...they've come against one of the few Teflon-coated women who can legitimately raise a bored eyebrow at them and turn away.

I hope it makes them feel really good about themselves because the sane majority see them for what they are: pitiful.

I think the reporting of the case has been oversimplified.

In essence, the tribunal said that because the transperson concerned had a Gender Recognition Certificate, it was wrong of Maya to claim that she wasn't a she. The legal position was that she was a she.

I don't know if they would have decided differently if someone had just decided they wanted to be known as a woman. For me, there is a difference. I think if someone goes through a process, they mean it (though I still don't want biological men doing womens sport). But if you just decide you're a woman, you're not, you're a bloke in a dress and there's nothing wrong with that and you don't need to say you're a woman, just say you prefer traditionally womanly things.

You’re too kind. I think Mauvaisreputation came onto the thread with the aim of spreading blatant untruths to smear Maya. I originally thought it was a case of lazily getting information second or third-hand but as each of her main points were refuted, no apology was forthcoming, just more untruths. (I just used ‘her’ to keep things simple. The poster may be male.)

I heard Posie Parker saying something similar in a video clip linked to on another thread on the subject and I find it quite unsettling.

We have no idea of what jkr "can take" and I would assume her being brave enough to state her (very reasonable) position on this matter may well have repercussions for her own and her family's mental and physical wellbeing.

I would 'hope' that jkr is able to 'take' reading the thousands of vitriolic messages about her and yes, we can acknowledge that she is fortuitous to be able to weather any financial repercussions that may ensue, but she is still a normal woman at the heart of it all and shouldn't be treated as a sacrificial lamb on our behalves.
