To think that Yorkshire puddings do not go in a Christmas dinner?

A traditional Christmas dinner that is. Yorkshire puddings are for roast beef surely? Not turkey and ham. What if the pudding accidentally touches the cranberry sauce? Xmas Envy

YABU, traditional or not who doesn’t want a Yorkshire pud?!

RhythimIsRhythim · 20/12/2019 05:30

Ooh, leftover Yorkshire with golden syrup. Mmm. That’s got me thinking.

cliffdiver · 20/12/2019 06:34

YANBU

Yorkshire puddings are for roast beef. Roast lamb at an absolute push.

KamikazeIdiot · 20/12/2019 06:41

There's nothing "traditional" about turkey as a Christmas dinner, unless you also think it's "traditional" to gather round a television set on Christmas day. Roast beef has a much longer tradition as a Christmas dinner.

Sirzy · 20/12/2019 06:41

The only reason I don’t is oven space and the not being able to open the oven while they cook problem!

MotherTime3 · 20/12/2019 06:46

As a yorkshire lass, I would like someone to show me the rule that says yorkies can only go with beef. Seems like some ludicrous excuse made up by someone who couldn’t be arsed to make them one year.

They go with everything, and can only improve the taste of cranberry sauce (who the fuck decided fruit belonged on a main course?!)

DeadButDelicious · 20/12/2019 06:51

I do not want to live in a world where I can't have a yorkie with my Christmas dinner. Or any dinner really. Yorkshire puds are delicious. YABU.

ScribblyGum · 20/12/2019 06:52

I'm with you OP. YPs go with beef. Bread sauce and cranberry sauce for the turkey. The whole dog's dinner of a meal is indigestion inducing enough without more brown carbs sitting there.

Bluerussian · 20/12/2019 06:53

I suppose you are right, strictly speaking, but I have Yorkshire puds with everything and I know my son will be cooking them with his Christmas dinner next week, which I am looking forward to. Don't be such a snob! We can eat what we like surely.

MaryPopppins · 20/12/2019 06:58

EVERYTHING good about roasts belongs on a Christmas dinner.

Quite frankly I don't care what the meat is, a roast is shite without Yorkshires. And a Christmas lunch especially.

But then I don't care which meat it is. I want red bistro. And mint sauce (for on my potatoes)

My parents are vegetarians so to me all the sides and veg is what makes a roast great. I can leave the meat.

Stuffing. Parsnips. Pigs in blankets. Cauliflower cheese. Yorkshires. Yum.

SteeperThanHell · 20/12/2019 06:58

What is wrong with you OP - it’s the best bit!

I’ll be making my giant Yorkshire’s in the morning to save oven space and popping back in to re-heat for 5 minutes whilst everything else is served up.

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 20/12/2019 07:00

What fresh hell is this?

Hands off my yorkshires!

Toomanycats99 · 20/12/2019 07:02

If you go to Toby Carvery you can get them
With your breakfast - they go surprisingly well!

TroysMammy · 20/12/2019 07:03

PickAChew put your peas inside your Yorkshire pudding to maximise space on your plate.

Aragog · 20/12/2019 07:05

YABU

Yorkshire puddings is a fabulous side for almost any meal, and great on their own too!

Heck, they're great as the actual main part of meal let alone a side.

UserPop · 20/12/2019 07:05

YABU. I don't understand the whole only with beef thing! We have them with every meat!

BoneyBackJefferson · 20/12/2019 07:05

Toby Carvery also offer macaroni cheese on the veg counter. No one seems to mind that.

starsky22 · 20/12/2019 07:08

YANBU Yorkshire puddings with roast beef only in this house and was the same in my parents house, never had them on Christmas Day, as we always have turkey. However, we do all love them so we are having mini yorkshires with roast beef and horseradish as canapes/starters!

funmummy48 · 20/12/2019 07:10

Christmas dinner isn’t Christmas dinner without Yorkshire puddings!

MrsAgassi · 20/12/2019 07:12

If there isn’t Yorkshire puddings then it’s not Christmas dinner!

RedSheep73 · 20/12/2019 07:13

I used to think that way. But I've been converted. They're great, even if they get covered in cranberry sauce! Sprouts on the other hand should not be allowed near a plate.

Booberella9 · 20/12/2019 07:13

YAB the most U I've seen all year in AIBU Grin

rhowton · 20/12/2019 07:14

@PickAChew omg, literally woke my husband up with my laugh!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 20/12/2019 07:15

They go with every toast dinner

We mostly had bees for Christmas Dinner and would have extra YP for the day (homemade of course)

YP, roast potatoes and stuffing is the best bits
