AIBU?

To think that Yorkshire puddings do not go in a Christmas dinner?

A traditional Christmas dinner that is. Yorkshire puddings are for roast beef surely? Not turkey and ham. What if the pudding accidentally touches the cranberry sauce? Xmas Envy

YABU, got to love a yorkie with any roast!

I also have cranberry sauce all year with roast chicken, pies, toad in the hole, roast beef etc. I love it.

Having them for the first time in 50 years this year

They've never been part of the dinner for me

YANBU. Definitely Not.
It's all Aunt Bessies fault.
I toil over my Yorkshire puddings when I cook roast beef to ensure the perfect light, golden, well risen, crisp yet still soft inside, batch; my sister grabs her cardboard bowls from the freezer and has them with practically everything. I'd imagine they go with nuggets and chips in her house.

A little decorum please.

We're not turkey fans so we have goose or beef - this year it's beef so there will definitely be Yorkshires, (and pigs in blankets) - and we'd be having them if it was goose too. If you like them, why wouldn't you?

I've had Yorkshires with sausage and mash before.. Even pie and boiled potato.. Because I love them
If i have some in freezer I've even heated them and done a bit of Gravy for a snack.. I'm mad obviously

Its now 12.45am and I have Yorkshires in my mind

Yorkies with jam are ace! I think they go with any roast. And they are perfection as toad in the hole, so they definitely go with pigs in blankets too.

My family would agree with you, however I do not and I make my own to throw on my plate as my mum is dishing everyone’s up.

Yorkshires go with anything. Why deprive yourself for Christmas lunch?!!

I saw a woman in the Co-op today, she had about eight bags of Aunt Bessies frozen Yorkshire puddings, and about six large bags of sprouts, and a few bottles of white wine,, I guess that was dinner sorted for her !

YABVBU
Yorkshires are the best. They go with everything.
I often roast 12 and eat them alone with gravy

I'm obviously a heathen. I'll be driving beef and Turkey with yorkies and stuffing

As well as mint sauce 🤦‍♀️

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners I think you are my spirit mner 🤣

For me Christmas dinner is about everything I like to eat so the only thing off the menu is Brussels

You have to have Yorkshire puddings with a roast. It's the law.

My Christmas dinner will consist of cold ham, prawns, salad..... And possibly Yorkshire's.

Of course they do, otherwise as a vegetarian I'd never get to eat Yorkshire pudding or mint sauce 😂 But then again I was only recently told you don't serve steak with a roast dinner either 🤷‍♂️ guilty of that too.

We only have them with roast beef. But we’re having roast beef for Christmas dinner because one of the party can’t have turkey. So hopefully it’s ok with you that we’re having Yorkshire puddings too

Damnit, well they're not going in our Christmas dinner because I forgot to order them and the shop's reached the budget cap now.

But YABU. Yorkshires are delicious and Christmas dinner is an excuse to have whatever you like.

Wouldn't be Christmas dinner without Yorkshire's.

DonutMan · 20/12/2019 03:14

I'd love a few cheeky puds in there!

Of course Yorkshires go with Christmas lunch. What is wrong with people?! They are particularly good with gravy as a starter if you really want to do them justice.

We always have Yorkshire's (vegan style) with our Christmas dinner, there are no rules!

There'd be anarchy in the camp of I didn't produce YP for Christmas dinner!

Why can't people have beef for Christmas dinner anyway? We've had beef and pork for as long as I can remember (I'm very nearly a pensioner). Why would anyone spend a fortune on a turkey? Ugh! 🤮

We have Yorkshire puds but then we don't have a 'traditional' Christmas dinner. Eat what you like, it's Christmas.

Report
AxeOfKindness · 20/12/2019 04:24

Technically and traditionally you may be correct but I would be outraged - OUTRAGED - if Yorkshire puddings were missing from my Christmas dinner or any Sunday roast regardless of the meat!
