PTA Mum acting entitled at school nativity

I've been thinking about this and wondered if AIBU for thinking pta mum is a cf or if she is.

Wednesday morning was my child's first nativity (reception age). It was in the school hall. Ticketed and people had been queuing outside in the bitter cold for a really long time before it started. The school didn't let anybody in until the minute it said on the ticket.

Nativity started at 9.15 which is when people went inside. People were queuing so I'm told from about 8.10am. By 8.25 there was quite a bit of a que already. One of the other mums who I have seen organising a lot of pta things arrived at about 8.30 with her husband and walked right past everybody else in the que and went inside. When we all went in they were sat on the front row and looked like they had been for some time, I don't know what makes them so special that they don't have to wait like the other parents,
AIBU to think this is so rude and entitled?

I am a Chair of Governors and it took 10 years before I had a school that did a nativity or Carol concert. So, I was pretty excited when I was asked to take on a Catholic school... until the Head said words that strike fear into any heart, "And now we will hear from our newly formed recorder group..."

Three verses of bloody Good King Wenceslas, I had played the recorder as a child, I rang my family to apologise.

Next year was better with the Ukulele orchestra 😃

And yes, I got a seat at the front but I also did a reading and did the thank you speech.

People queued for an hour, in the rain, for a ticketed school nativity?????

I was Vice Chair of the PTA for 5 years. I never got a front row seat reserved. No wonder people fall out with the PTA. Hmm I wanted to sit with my children's friends parents that we knew anyway. Not on the front like Princess Margaret! And, Yes, that's after blood sweat and tears and pulling all bloody nighters before fairs etc!
You don't do it for kudos, you do it because you want your school to be able to have nice things.

Ex PTA here. When my son was in infant years I used to go past parents who were queuing and go in early. I’d grab a front row seat .... and then go off to prep teas and coffees for the end. I’d be the parent having to miss my son’s final bow. He’d be the child missing seeing his parent applauding. Because I’ve have had to sneak off and get the teas ready.

So yes - I took that front row seat. Being on the PTA is a thankless task.
