Not to brag. Essential services are working.

Non Essentials like retail, events and hospitality are working.
We get it you have 2 weeks off. Please have some respect.

I didn’t have too but it’s much easier as a nurse to book off Muslim holidays than Christian holidays and we can all celebrate as a family. Christmas used to be a big thing for me and now it isn’t. So working over Xmas doesn’t hurt so much. Obviously becoming Muslim is a bit extreme if you are a shift worker but you could adapt and celebrate Xmas a bit later or earlier than everyone else.

Speaking for myself, I am embarrassed to have time off over the festive period when the valiant emergency services don't. I have been getting up at 5am, leaving the house and spending the day in a bus shelter until early evening to create the illusion that I'm working, just in case any nurses or fireman notice me at home and feel offended.
