Bake it in a hole in a scored sourdough loaf drizzled in olive oil. Tear & share...

Pukeworthy · 16/12/2019 21:31

Yessss, bought myself one as my christmas dinner! Never thought of adding garlic, deffo guna do that!

KatherineJaneway · 17/12/2019 18:04

So, if you do have any leftover, you eat it like normal cheese the next day? Xmas Blush

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 17/12/2019 18:20

if you are baking it in its box them make sure it is a stapled box...the glued ones will come apart and you will have a tray full of molten burned cheese

aside from that I am sure I have seen them all ready to go in lovely terracotta dishes in aldi. I might get a couple the dishes are great for the cats :o once emptied of cheeseygoodness.

Excellent username @KatherineJaneway, but I'm afraid I dont understand your question... Left over baked camembert?? It's never happened!

AdaColeman · 17/12/2019 18:41

Leftover camembert? That's against all the natural laws.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 17/12/2019 18:47

((realfood.tesco.com/recipes/baked-camembert-in-sourdough.html This)) is lovely!

TheGinGenie · 17/12/2019 18:54

People do normally share but I'd happily eat a whole one. Dreaming about it now! Grin

tilder · 17/12/2019 19:11

Brilliant idea iamNOTmagic. I love baked camembert but never thought of doing that before. Will definitely try this.

KatherineJaneway · 17/12/2019 21:15

@YourOpinionIsNoted

I love Janeway, she is an inspiration.

On rare occasions with cheese, my eyes are bigger than my stomach. On such occasions can I eat leftover baked cheese Xmas Blush

DoesItGetAnyBetter · 17/12/2019 21:59

Ok. I regularly bake Camembert to go with a roasted vegetable bruschetta. My tips are:
1 Most important- buy unpasteurised cheese
2 Make sure box is stapled as glue will melt
3 Unwrap paper and put back in box
4 Score a cross in the top and bake for 20 mins
5 Put entire thing in your face as the calories are sooooo worth it Grin

pinkprosseco · 17/12/2019 22:04

Cut it open add almonds and apricot jam and also on the top before baking.

caroline161 · 17/12/2019 22:23

I force mine into a granary cob and then bake it in the oven.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 17/12/2019 22:38

I really want to try baked camembert, but DH, DS and DM all dislike camembert and there's no way I can justify eating one all by myself. Xmas Sad

CheekyFuckersDontGetPastMe · 17/12/2019 22:48

Are people eating the rind like a Brie?

Ladybirdbookworm · 17/12/2019 23:06

This has made me desperate for some cheesy loveliness.
Agree Lidl camembert doesn't work but thanks to this thread I now know why.
I also cut little slits in the top and stick spears of garlic and rosemary in them. I must admit I usually do one small one per person because I don't like any one double dipping ..... well that's my excuse Blush

brassbrass · 17/12/2019 23:08

doesitgetanybetter number 5 🤣

KatherineJaneway · 19/12/2019 07:40

Are people eating the rind like a Brie?

I will be

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/12/2019 07:46

Just don’t buy it from Aldi or Lidl as they don’t melt!

Yes they do.

Just don't bake it in the box as it's cardboard, put it on a bowl.

stripeypillowcase · 19/12/2019 08:05

daniel try putting some cubes off brie/camembert into a ramekin.
I suspect family will either turn their nose up at the smell or they will want to try and then eat the lot.

anxioussue · 19/12/2019 08:10

Yes food of the gods

Likethebattle · 19/12/2019 08:14

Don’t bake for too long. It hardens up again, 20 minutes and no more! I am actually eyeing up a ceramic Camembert baker for Christmas lol x

JoyceJames · 19/12/2019 08:15

Yes. We put slices of garlic and rosemary in it, a bit of olive oil on top, then cook for 30 minutes in the original box. We eat it with hot bread and salad.

Yes you can eat the rind - in fact I almost prefer the rind - and DD doesn’t like the rind so I get to eat it all.
