Sparklybaublefest one Camembert to share is fine . I have a dish I use to bake mine. I cut the top off the camembert off and place it back on and drizzle with white wine. Crusty bread

DanaPhoenix · 16/12/2019 12:23

Thanks hope you have a lovely Christmas

KatharinaRosalie · 16/12/2019 12:24

You need to do this. Super simple. salu-salo.com/camembert-snowflake/

Ninkanink · 16/12/2019 12:25

Thank you, you too!

runwithme · 16/12/2019 12:27

We normally get a large one, but I just chuck it in the oven. Will have to try putting something on it next time. However this year I have bought smaller, individual ones as DS has a tendency to hog it all for himself!

TheGriffle · 16/12/2019 12:29

Can I just ask, are you supposed to eat the rind of the Camembert? I just cut open the top and scoop the cheese out but always wondered if the skin is edible.

Probablythatone · 16/12/2019 12:29

I did it for the first time a few weeks ago. It was lovely. I cut it in half horizontally and put each part in the lid and base of the wooden box it came in. I didn’t follow the instruction ton put it on a baking tray as the oven was so full. My advice is ALWAYS PUT IT ON A BAKING TRAY unless someone wants to spend the rest of the day chiselling baked cheese off the bottom of the oven after it’s leaked out the box.

snowball28 · 16/12/2019 12:29

I would get 2 for 5 people, try some chilli jam on crackers with the cheese. SO nice

MyChristmasBauble · 16/12/2019 12:30

I got one of those wreath things from Tesco at the weekend - the Camembert sits in the middle of a wreath of caramelised onion sharing bread and all baked together.

A similar idea from Aldi - not Camembert, but a mature cheddar cheese bake with Kentish cider. It’s in a ceramic (?) pot. Tried that last week and it was very tasty.

DowntownAbby · 16/12/2019 12:31

Just make sure no one double-dips it, OP!

balalalala · 16/12/2019 12:31

When over Christmas do you normally serve this?

stripeypillowcase · 16/12/2019 12:32

one between two people.
stick in a clove of garlic.
serve with fresh baguette.

you could also cut it in cubes and put into individual ramekins if you want.

SmoothOrange · 16/12/2019 12:35

@TheSeaWitch Please read up on the cheese you can and can't have. I too am pregnant and assumed I was unable to have loads but there are actually just a small amount I can not have (mouldy ones)!

Gutted about the no pate at xmas tho

FizzyIce · 16/12/2019 12:37

I love it ! Used to order it from a restaurant and it had garlic, rosemary, hazelnuts and drizzled with honey .
Struggled to get it the same at home

Dustarr73 · 16/12/2019 12:39

Aldi do lovely ones.Small enough for 1 if you are greedy like me.But enough for 2 as well.Crusty bread is gorgeous with it.

BrieAndChilli · 16/12/2019 12:40

if its just a snack/part of wider buffet then 1 between the 5 of us, if its more of the main attraction/only thing then 2 between the 5 of us

stripeypillowcase · 16/12/2019 12:40

or do it as they do in germany - a small camembert wrapped in puff pastry, topped with cranberries (inside the pastry).

KimchiLaLa · 16/12/2019 12:40

I wouldn't eat a whole one, but I would share it with others

Mulledwineinajug · 16/12/2019 12:48

Nobody’s sharing my Camembert!

ElluesPichulobu · 16/12/2019 12:48

one between two, or get mini ones like this to have one each. They are lush.

teta · 16/12/2019 12:51

Also nice with chicory and pear dippers for those on low carb diets.

Wild123 · 16/12/2019 12:51

I love the Sainsbury's one with the red onion chutney served with warm bread.

Take it out of the wrapper, place back in the box, score the top with a cross and put in the over for 20-25 mins - serve immediately. I'd get 2 for 5 people!

Pigs in blankets are great for dipping in there too ! Enjoy

StickyToffeeTart · 16/12/2019 12:54

Apple slices are good with it too, and you definitely need cornichons Grin

footchewer · 16/12/2019 12:55

I adore baked camembert too, but it's never been a Christmas Tradition in our house. I think it's time it became one ...

Marylou2 · 16/12/2019 12:55

All the time. Great quick snack with wine if friends pop round. Crudités, thinly sliced baguette to dip. Stud with garlic and rosemary, drizzle of oil and a bit of white wine and in the oven for 30 minutes. Gorgeous.
