20-25 minutes is way too long I find. 10-15 mins is just right, but that is the top removed and plopped back on.

mumwithovertime · 16/12/2019 12:56

We do a whole Brie and a whole Camembert baked til melts then eat with nice bread , relishes and sticks of celery , ‘tis lush

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 16/12/2019 12:56

Does it keep its shape if it’s sat on a baking tray?

paranoidmum2 · 16/12/2019 12:57

Ooh I’ve never melted Brie!

stripeypillowcase · 16/12/2019 13:01

Does it keep its shape if it’s sat on a baking tray?

nope - it will melt spectacularly.

GingleJangleScarecrow · 16/12/2019 13:02

I think @DanaPhoenix is the only poster to have mentioned cranberry sauce. You definitely need cranberry sauce.

Smelly50 · 16/12/2019 13:04

A wheel of Brie de Meaux if you like a stronger cheese or maybe a creamy Somerset brie if not . Cook from room temperature.

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/12/2019 13:04

I love it with pickled walnuts, onion chutney and rosemary breadsticks

DrMadelineMaxwell · 16/12/2019 13:06

Stinks like old socks. Urgh.

Egghead68 · 16/12/2019 13:09

One to share - they are amazing.

Equimum · 16/12/2019 13:09

Delicious. We slit the top, pop some garlic in, drizzle with oil and enjoy with crusty bread.

Havaina · 16/12/2019 13:10

I really hate when people says ‘stinks’ about fresh food. It’s really disrespectful. No one on this thread is forcing you to eat it.

Straycatstrut · 16/12/2019 13:10

I had to look this up... not a cheese lover at all so not for me, shall stick to wine and twiglets Grin

ElluesPichulobu · 16/12/2019 13:10

By the way - make sure you bake it and then serve it immediately. DH and I had spectacular food poisoning from a baked cheese in a restaurant which had been baked earlier in the day and then allowed to hang around warmish for far too long being a petri dish for something really horrible. I won't eat it in a restaurant now but will happily dig in if I know it came piping hot from the oven mere minutes ago.

Excited101 · 16/12/2019 13:13

Lardons on the top before baking is 🤤

MorganKitten · 16/12/2019 13:17

Yes please.

inwood · 16/12/2019 13:21

Oh goodness not one each! That way lies Gaviscon...

Garlicinyoursoul · 16/12/2019 13:23

Yes! Love a Camembert with garlic and thyme.
Aldi have one that has chorizo on top in at the moment, it’s lovely. It comes in its own dish too so less faff.
We usually have our Camembert with bread, olives and cured meats. So good!

Freefalling123 · 16/12/2019 13:24

I can't believe people want to SHARE! Blush

Seriously though, teenage DC love it when I do 'hedgehog' bread - take a whole tiger loaf, hollow out a circle to put the cheese in (keep the bits to use as more dipping tools) - then cut deep criss cross pattern across the rest of the loaf (go as deep as you can).

Slash the cheese right through top and bottom, season and add some garlic. Put cheese in the hole.

Bake for about 15-20 mins and serve (I usually serve with red onion marmalade, but cranberry or pickle good too) - bread will pull apart and cheese will have oozed everywhere.

must not go and get big Camembert from fridge and eat it all for lunch now

Tiredmum100 · 16/12/2019 13:28

We had one last night! We usually have one between two.

sammi0805 · 16/12/2019 13:32

We had one last night. One between 2 as well. Serve it with crusty bread, sharp green apple, onion chutney etc. Delish.

koshkat · 16/12/2019 13:38

YES!!! It is lovely OP.

CornishMaid1 · 16/12/2019 13:39

For the two of us, we have 1 camembert. We have a little ceramic dish for it, but you can use any baking dish. We cut the top skin off (to make it easier, score the cheese and then drizzle on some oil. If we are being special then perhaps some garlic, herbs and wine.

If we were doing it for 5 then maybe 2 cheeses and lots of bread, depending on how much cheese you like (we like lots). This time of year you can buy them with different toppings in the supermarkets and some of the supermarkets have sets with the tear and share bread with the cheese in the middle so you just follow the instructions.
