I quite like Nicola Sturgeon, and I'm not keen on Jo Swinson. But Nicola S's rejoicing over Swinson's defeat - AIBU to find it unpleasant and embarrassingly over-the-top?

@Butchyrestingface it was outwith the parameters for a recount. She got a ‘shuffle count’ as a compromise where they recount the bundles of 100 and then do a quick check of where the boxes were and all it did was give Amy an extra half a dozen votes 🙈

She was rude and horrible to the staff and was refusing to stand on stage for the result. She had to be coaxed onto the stage. Not really the behaviour of someone looking to be a leader whether now or in the future 🤷🏻‍♀️

That is quite funny. Just for the prospect of finding wee Amy even more votes, I’d have relaxed the rules and ordered a full recount.

East Dunbartonshire would have overtaken Cornwall as slowest ever to declare.

I'm not a fan of either of these woman but can understand why one would celebrate winning another seat. JS was quite gracious in her defeat speech though.

@Travis1, was it ever revealed where JS disappeared to during that missing hour of travelling between her home and the place where the count was taking place?

I was travelling back to Scotland on the sleeper on election night, and absolutely desperate to get some sleep, but wanted to stay up to see how my own constituency faired, and whether ED would fall to SNP. Just when a result seemed likely, she went MIA.

Well done for including the word outwith pp
I would say that NS let herself down there. JS is off her head.

Swinson is ...not good and is best removed from politics, for everyone else's sake as well as her own.

I can't see anything wrong with the SNP celebrating, they did the UK a small favour.

A young candidate beating a party leader is always a massive achievement
Very natural of NS to show her delight and celebrate that victory for her party

However, Abbott was celebrating the JS loss, certainly not celebrating an SNP victory
So that was purely negative and unpleasant

@Butchyrestingface apparently she’d got wind of the result and was refusing to go to the polling station. Once she was in the station she was in the ‘VIP’ room and that’s where she kept going back to and refusing to come out other than to argue with G(the chief returning officer). Apparently it was her agent that coaxed her into taking part in the results.

Her speech may have been gracious but her whole attitude certainly wasn’t.
