I quite like Nicola Sturgeon, and I'm not keen on Jo Swinson. But Nicola S's rejoicing over Swinson's defeat - AIBU to find it unpleasant and embarrassingly over-the-top?

She did nothing wrong ffs. Celebrated the win. Said in the live interview she felt sorry for Jo Swindon on a personal level. Don't know what the drama is about?!

And despite grabbing the stage and going on about generosity, Jo Swinson did not appear to congratulate Amy Callaghan - more of a failure than Sturgeon's excitement at gaining the seat.

The LibDems and 'Bollocks to Brexit' was much worse. That was planned, childish and vile.

Sturgeon's reaction looked like genuine pleasure at the victory. It wasn't glee at someone's defeat.

They do- they call the candidates to gather and tell them the results to see if they accept them. If they don’t, they have a recount. The bit of the stage is just announcing the results to everyone else. I was disappointed when I attended a Count and found this out, although it’s obvious really - no one ever looks surprised on the stage!

She was celebrating one of her own team (a young woman who had survived cancer) winning a marginal seat. That doesn’t make her nasty, that’s what she would obviously do. It’s certainly what Jo Swinson would do.

And the SNP have been in government for over 10 years but are still the most popular party in Scotland by a huge margin. Doesn’t seem to me that they are a failing party obsessed by independence.

There's a big difference between celebrating an unexpected win, and celebrating a loss.

You can be damned certain that at this point, Nicola Sturgeon was focused on the win.

Look at anyone that wins anything at all. They celebrate first, then think about who came second. Should sportspeople or talent show winners not be allowed to show their joy, because it comes at the expense of someone else?
