To think all conservative voters aren't thinking of others?

I realise this doesn't convert anyone and at this point I'm not trying to. But I just don't think anyone who really cares for the welfare of others votes conservative. We know.chikd poverty is highest for 60 years, people are actually dying due to underfunding services (I can link to the research on this if needed). So conservative voters have prioritised brexit and their dislike for Jeremy Corbyn over actually helping others. Whatever way you look at it it wasn't the kind option. Realise I will get flamed for this but it's just how i feel. It's the cruel party and I'm ashamed to be British right now with how everyone voted. Also they had such a dodgy deceitful campaign and as it was rewarded I guess that's the future of politics now :/
I'm not sad labour didn't win, they were never going to. I'm sad at how much conservatives won by as the selfish option that's basically saying it's fine for everything to continue being awful for those struggling.

Snowman...maybe look at what has happened in recent years re: cuts and think about the impact that has had on pay progression, the removal of experienced teachers on the higher pay scales, performance related pay etc etc. Like many, I work part time in teaching because it’s the only way I can continue. I work the rest of the time on supply, however, and some, because that is the right thing to do. You also assume that you know where I live and that full time positions are easily available within a reasonable commuting distance. And of course, the further up the pay scale we are, the less attractive we are with tight budgets. I also work seasonally in the summer teaching English to foreign students, I exam mark and I tutor (currently 5 nights, 2 hours on Saturday and 3 on Sunday).

But whatever, it’s easier for people like you to assume anyone on beep edits of any kind is nothing other than a lazy scrounged, isn’t it?

@sotiredofthislife

At no point have I said anyone was a lazy scrounger.

What I did say was that as a qualified teacher you should have ample opportunities to increase your income to a level where you don't need to rely on the state.

I'm very political but we've had the election, the result is in. What good are we doing just rerunning the arguments really?

MIdgebabe · 15/12/2019 18:03

should have ample opportunity

So let's think about why a should isn't actually happening in practise. If it's not laziness or some other personal failing, what do you think it is?

Snowman123 · 15/12/2019 18:50

@Midgebabe

Only @sotiredofthislife can tell us exactly why.

Maybe up until now, she hasn't had to - because she is happy with tax credits topping up her income.

sotired hang on

You’re tutoring for five hours at the weekend and 5 nights a week? So ten hours minimum?

Most tutors don’t charge under £20. So that’s £200 a week before we take into account whatever you get for your teaching salary.

I call bullshit.
