hi. just wonder if anyone is getting a christmas bonus from the company you work for ? if So ? how much
we are so tight this month and my husband has been told few months ago that this year he would expect a christmas bonus, I have no idea whato to expect , whether it can be a simple £20 or more ??

Our bonus scheme was changed this year to make it fairer, but it means that we can't compete with the bigger shops (every shop is bigger than mine) and so we're getting nothing. We do usually get chocolates and often fizz as well, which is nice, but this year we've been watching the bigger shops getting bonuses every month and we simply don't have the capacity to compete. We have complained and it is being looked at again.

My dh used to get a standard £1k-£2k as an Xmas bonus in his old job. New place is more about big payrises, so no bonus this year but a £6k payrise instead. If your hub has been told to expect a bonus, I think it would be a reasonable sum, otherwise it wouldn't get mentioned in advance.

sheepysheep · 14/12/2019 09:38

No bonus but we get a Christmas meal, drinks and a couple of bottles of wine (I don’t drink though!). We’d all prefer £50 instead but it’s not tax deductible apparently.... Oh and I work away from home so I would be getting a meal paid for by the company anyway so it’s not exactly a perk.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 14/12/2019 09:40

I work retail and we get a £10 store voucher.

One of my sons company pays a Christmas bonus which works out after tax at around £1600. He is gutted not to get it this year as his start date was just after the cut of date for it. But on a better note they have ended his probation period early so he should be able to negotiate a pay rise in the new year.

mistydayswampwitch · 14/12/2019 09:41

No! I work for the nhs! We did get a £2.50 coffee voucher for getting the flu jab though. But had to collect it during work time from another site...so I didn't bother.

Ivebeentohellanditscalledikea · 14/12/2019 09:42

Nothing I work in a school so do get the two weeks off. They are holding a Christmas party but £30 a head on my wages just isn't happening.

RoseMartha · 14/12/2019 09:42

Nothing.

Ozgirl75 · 14/12/2019 09:44

This all makes me feel quite good. I run a small business and we gave our staff either £1000 or £750 each and took them out for a nice lunch. And they already got a half year bonus of the same.

BlackeyedSusan · 14/12/2019 09:45

Ds Gets £10. Thanks DWP.

Ozgirl75 · 14/12/2019 09:45

Oh and we close from next Friday and don’t open again until 2 Jan and they don’t have to take holiday for that.

JustMe9 · 14/12/2019 09:47

Best bonus is Xmas shutdown so dont have to work for almost 2 weeks + got £50 gift card & free Xmas dinner. Would love to get a proper bonus but it is what it is.

hsegfiugseskufh · 14/12/2019 09:47

Absolutely fuck all even though we celebrated our "best year yet" Crown Hmm

Maybe my new years resolution should be to get a new job!

Jiggeriepokerie · 14/12/2019 09:57

Semi-public sector so get no bonus, no party, not allowed decorations and encouraged to be inclusive by not using the word Christmas.

The fun just never stops in my office Smile

Zenithbear · 14/12/2019 09:57

£300. I am part time.
When I last worked full time it was more than double. I remember getting £1k+ one year.

Alpacathebag · 14/12/2019 09:59

Nothing, I work in a hospital. I’m lucky to get Christmas Day and Boxing Day off because I don’t work in an acute or emergency team.

I know it’s easy to say but you need to not plan stuff around potentially getting a Christmas bonus. It should be extra to what you already live on, not something you rely on.

ebenezerscroogedmeover · 14/12/2019 10:01

Husband is a chef and gets £100, he works xmas eve, xmas day and Boxing Day so it's nice to get a little something.

chopper2311 · 14/12/2019 10:03

I get 20% of salary, all personal and company performance related. I've had a good year, but not the entire company. Usually around £8k before tax, more likely to be £4K If lucky this year.

LucheroTena · 14/12/2019 10:09

DH is getting 10 grand. Normally it’s more but Brexit. I work for NHS and get a real terms pay cut every year. It’s annoying actually.

ooooohbetty · 14/12/2019 10:11

Public sector. No bonus, no free Xmas party, we buy our own Xmas decorations for the office, we get nothing.

StCharlotte · 14/12/2019 10:12

I'm in a new job - probation finishes Monday (fingers crossed) so I was delighted to receive a £100 JL voucher, some Hotel Chocolat chocolates and apparently there will be "something" in our pay packets this month. We've got a paid for party on Friday and are closed from Friday until January. To be honest the fact that I really love this job would have been a bonus enough this year Xmas Smile

StCharlotte · 14/12/2019 10:13

CalleighDoodle

We will probably get a dead pig or A shit waffle sandwich each next friday morning.

Wondering where on earth you work?!

mincepiemaven · 14/12/2019 10:14

Nope. I'm a remote worker and didn't even get invited to the Christmas party either! Envy

DontPetTheSweatyStuff · 14/12/2019 10:14

No. There's a £30 incentive for anyone who hadn't had time off from October to Christmas, except arranged holiday but I won't get it as I have had to take 2 days off for my son.

Bloke23 · 14/12/2019 10:14

We had a free bar at the xmas party and we will get 2 bottles of wine and 4 bottles of gin next week

NewYearmorestress · 14/12/2019 10:14

I'm temping at the moment so my bonus is 2 weeks off without pay.
