Though I do get a LOT of perks with my job in general so I can't really complain.

SexlessBoulderBelly · 14/12/2019 10:16

We usually get a twice yearly bonus, but they didn’t do it in the summer and said they would give it all at Christmas instead.. I started maternity leave beginning of December so I’m guessing I’ve been crossed off the bonus list.

Would be extremely helpful while I’m on MAT leave though :(

Mumista · 14/12/2019 10:17

No bonus or party, but we have an extra 2 days paid holiday between Christmas and New Year which I'm delighted about.

flumposie · 14/12/2019 10:23

Nope. Public sector.

ch3rrycola · 14/12/2019 10:24

Nothing, private sector. Not even a thank you.

HollyGoLoudly1 · 14/12/2019 10:27

Teacher here. We get nothing obviously, and pay for our own Christmas do.

We used to get mince pies and some fizz in the staff room on the last day but our old head teacher paid for it herself. Our new head doesn't like us that much so we get nothing now Hmm

mrsbyers · 14/12/2019 10:28

Nothing in the civil service but with my wage and pension set up that’s fine with me , I’ve given my team a £20 simply thanks so they at least get something

Sparklesocks · 14/12/2019 10:31

I don’t.
Our company has a head office function and a warehouse function. The warehouse staff get £250 Xmas bonus each but the head office (where I work) dont.

However the head office staff are entitled to an annual bonus in March based on their salary and performance, which the warehouse staff do not receive.

I could really do with £250 for Xmas! But it evens out with the March payouts so can’t complain. Also the head office staff are generally on higher salaries.

TheReef · 14/12/2019 10:31

Nope

MeowyChristmas · 14/12/2019 10:43

DH’s work does a special Christmas payment for people with long service. It’s part salary sacrifice, part bonus, part performance bonus.

He gets that in his November pay. It was about a third of a month’s pay this year.

LidiaM · 14/12/2019 10:53

@lottiegarbanzo no because he is actualy the only employer apart from the guy and their 2 brothers that are the bosses !!

I feel so sad for most of you, right now I am on Mat leave and I have been given a £50 voucher as each yer but knowing alot of people still dont get a penny makes me so sad !! dont you think that everyone should be paid one ? it gives an employer alot of positive vibes to do well in next year and work harder knowing that bosses actually cares for you

To be honest I don’t feel too sad about the lack of Christmas bonus as the June performance related bonus is approx £20k.
Far worse for the teachers/nurses etc who get nothing.

notnowmaybelater · 14/12/2019 11:07

I got roughly 500€ Christmas money in my after tax November pay packet. It's in the contact for all employees who've been employed there for at least 12 months (based on contract hours and salary so not identical amount but not in any way performance related) so it's expected and the employer can't decide not to give it. Lots of long term employees see it as their budget for some specific expense and don't see it as an extra at all, but I'd forgotten about it (I've only received it once before as have only been there 2.5 years) so was pleasantly surprised!

ForalltheSaints · 14/12/2019 11:08

Never do, personally would prefer more money throughout the year.

MooseBreath · 14/12/2019 11:10

I work in the private sector. No bonuses for the vast majority (the directors will likely get them though).

RidgedPerfection · 14/12/2019 11:12

No bonus here; public sector and we go out as a team and pay for our own meal / drinks etc.

autumnmum · 14/12/2019 11:17

Work for an NGO so definately no bonus for us - we are all supposed to get off on the warm rosy glow of working for a charity 😂😂

PresidentBartlett · 14/12/2019 11:22

Nope. We both teach so no Christmas bonus in this house.

PeachandBee · 14/12/2019 11:24

DH and his team each recieved a £3500 bonus in the Nov pay as a 'going above and beyond' thank you for the year. He regularly works 100 hour weeks (financial sector IT) so bloody earned it imo.

Em8725 · 14/12/2019 11:25

No bonus here from my employer, I’m working Christmas Eve night and New Year’s Eve night, with other shifts inbetween. Some of my customers have been fabulous, £20 in a card from one, a box of chocolates from another. I love my job, and wasn’t expecting a Christmas bonus anyway. We also don’t do the whole “Christmas do” thing either.

foodandwine89 · 14/12/2019 11:28

city solicitor, got 20k (before tax), performance related

most people who work in corporate jobs/legal/banking/asset management get a bonus although may get paid out in January i.e. end of the fiscal year

Beadyohfeedme · 14/12/2019 11:31

NHS so nada. Did get a card from my ward manager and a broken Lush bath bomb from the Christmas fair Grin the patients have bought us chocolates and mince pies which is really sweet, considering some mental health workers get punched in face on Christmas Eve (that was last year!)

ScreamingValalalalahLalalalah · 14/12/2019 11:36

No. Any bonuses we get are paid at the end of the financial year. We've already been warned not to expect much in April 2020 Sad.

hsegfiugseskufh · 14/12/2019 11:36

foodandwine your xmas bonus is almost as much as my full time wage for a year :(
