I mean... I do care about the election. But not today. Because today, after 3 and a half long, painful months of living with my PILs- the last 6 weeks with a new baby- DH and I have completed and are moving into our new home.

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Anyone vaguely familiar with my previous threads will know how indescribably happy this makes me! There have been times over the last few months where I have really had to work to keep my mental health under control, it’s honestly been one of the hardest times in my life, and now it’s over. We have our own home. It’s not big, it’s not fancy, but it’s ours, and finally DH, DS and I will be able to be together, just the 3 of us. An added bonus is that we are no longer living in IDS’s constituency...

I’ve no doubt I’ll be back to despairing over the state of the world and how our country is going to hell in a handbasket soon enough, but right now I couldn’t be happier. Life is good.

Anyone else got a reason to be cheerful today?

Congratulations! Flowers

I’m eating toasted chocolate brioche and looking forward to the carol service later.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 13/12/2019 14:30

Congratulations

My new squirrel feeder is a great success and my bird feeders are no longer raided.
Happy squirrels, happy birds and happy me.

Noodledoodledoo · 13/12/2019 14:30

My little boy was an amazing shepherd in his nativity at nursery and we surprised the staff with their Christmas presents at the end!

NoFucksImAQueen · 13/12/2019 14:32

I'm feeling a bit poorly today so nothing to add but wanted to say yanbu and THANK YOU for starting this post. I voted labour and did feel very disappointed when I woke up this morning but the endless stream of anger all over social media since has been getting me down

mynameisMrG · 13/12/2019 14:33

My premature baby spent his first day at home today after nearly a month in the NICU 😊

pasturesgreen · 13/12/2019 14:36

Thanks OP, I could really do with so cheering up! My business will be heavily affected by Brexit, but today I'm on the last day of a short break in Munich, so I'm determined to not let the result spoil things and enjoy the Christmas market and atmosphere...with possibly the help of a mulled wine or two Xmas SmileWine

AngeloMysterioso · 13/12/2019 14:39

mynameisMrG congratulations!! What an incredibly special time for your family Xmas Smile

Congratulations! I know what a blessed relief that will be!

Nothing nice to report here (clingy, whiny toddler with flu who won’t let me do anything much less work), but the big one is going to grandads for a sleepover tonight....

InTheBleakMidwinterIWouldSing · 13/12/2019 14:57

I’m not having the best day but it does make me very happy to know that other people have reason to celebrate, so thank you Smile

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 13/12/2019 15:00

Great news! Enjoy your new home!

I'm happy today because I saw my midwife and everything with my pregnancy is still going smoothly, so I feel very lucky so far. Only 9ish weeks to go! Shock

Thurmanmurman · 13/12/2019 15:04

My DCs both have their friends coming for tea after school and I'm doing a buffet tea with Christmas crackers. DH is out on the town and I have a bottle of wine in the fridge and I'm going to watch a film, wrap some presents and have a glass or two once the kids are in bed.

Backtoreality1 · 13/12/2019 15:06

Fantastic news :)
I am just celebrating the end of the week....its been a long one and I have reached the weekend unscathed and with a smile on my face ready for present wrapping tonight....that will do for now.

Livingthedream89 · 13/12/2019 15:10

This is a lovely thread OP. We have finally had someone put an offer in on our flat which has been accepted and my little one is sleeping through the night 🙌🏻 also spending a weekend with family, friends and wine 😊

chinateapot · 13/12/2019 15:27

Flew home today after 6 weeks in Germany for radiotherapy for my daughter. So happy to be back in the UK.

loubieloo4 · 13/12/2019 15:28

My amazing dh (stage 4 terminal cancer) is feeling well enough to go car shopping with dd. Today is a good day

TopOftheNaughtyList · 13/12/2019 15:34

Congratulations OP!

After a crap year (4 deaths in family/close friends including FIL) and my DH undergoing cancer treatment, I had a long awaited letter through from Barclays. Having applied on the deadline (29 Aug) they've written to say they've identified that we did have PPI policies on two old mortgages held between 2001 and 2008. They've got to do a bit more investigating but keeping everything crossed we may get a payout in the new year!

FaFoutis · 13/12/2019 15:36

Congratulations on your new home, and surviving the PILs.

I got a distinction in my creative writing MA. It was a complete surprise. Hooray!

JellyfishAndShells · 13/12/2019 15:38

Congratulations ! I finished a painting that was ridiculously ambitious and it looks ok - which was 100% better than I expected, so yay !

TopOftheNaughtyList · 13/12/2019 15:38

To all those on the thread experiencing illness in their families, I wish the best for you Flowers.

PerkingFaintly · 13/12/2019 15:38

I have groped under the bath and discovered there was indeed a hole in the outside wall and I have BLOCKED IT UP!

This may be life changing. It's always been a bit... fresh in there.

HappySonHappyMum · 13/12/2019 15:41

My DH bought home a gorgeous looking topside of beef from CostCo and I can't wait to cook the best roast dinner on Sunday!

DanceToTheMusicInMyHead · 13/12/2019 15:44

DD was an amazing narrator in her nativity today- she said her lines so clearly and beamed from the moment she got on stage to the end.

And I have bought lots of party food for tea tonight - looking forward to feasting on a random assortment of beige Grin

LigPatin · 13/12/2019 15:51

Congrats OP!

I found out that my local Whittard stocks my favourite tea blend today.

Im stuck waiting for DP to get what he needs from B&Q so I can go home and drink the magnificent potion that is The Piccadilly Blend.

It's the little things

rosie39forever · 13/12/2019 15:57

After a shitty few years health wise and death of a young relativeI got the deed to my house today, finally paid off my mortgage 25 years and now a property owner, still gutted about the election though.

angemorange · 13/12/2019 15:59

Enjoy your new home!
My DP is off this weekend for the first time in ages and we are having a family outing to the local Christmas market.

My DS has done well in his school exams.

I'm putting the Christmas tree up tonight (with wine!)

It's all the little things Smile
