I mean... I do care about the election. But not today. Because today, after 3 and a half long, painful months of living with my PILs- the last 6 weeks with a new baby- DH and I have completed and are moving into our new home.

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Anyone vaguely familiar with my previous threads will know how indescribably happy this makes me! There have been times over the last few months where I have really had to work to keep my mental health under control, it’s honestly been one of the hardest times in my life, and now it’s over. We have our own home. It’s not big, it’s not fancy, but it’s ours, and finally DH, DS and I will be able to be together, just the 3 of us. An added bonus is that we are no longer living in IDS’s constituency...

I’ve no doubt I’ll be back to despairing over the state of the world and how our country is going to hell in a handbasket soon enough, but right now I couldn’t be happier. Life is good.

Anyone else got a reason to be cheerful today?

Today I heard that the tenancy on my (rented) house is secured in my own name, after ex-husband maliciously tried to get us thrown out.

Have been stringing up lights feeling so happy and peaceful, it's a new season in my OWN HOUSE, he can't take it away.

PlinkPlink · 13/12/2019 17:52

Not brand new news for me but I'm just happily growing a baby here to arrive in June!

The election results were not what I wanted but I'm not letting it put a dampener on this little one who we'll meet very soon!

Difficultcustomer · 13/12/2019 17:58

Lovely thread.

PotteringAlong · 13/12/2019 18:02

I thought it was going to cost £££ to fix my car and the lovely garage did it for £55 😊

I am 60 today - and there's a big coffee cake in the kitchen with my name on it Grin

FaFoutis · 13/12/2019 18:09

Happy birthday Kurri!

Keewee27 · 13/12/2019 18:15

Congrats, OP! Wonderful news.

We've just finished doing our Christmas performances at school and the children were all amazing. It was wonderful to see them singing and dancing with such confidence, especially the shy and nervous 9 year old girl who sang 'Tomorrow' from Annie with such poise. Not a dry eye in the place!
Ds1 played the glockenspiel with confidence too!

Also, I can now go and watch ds2 (age 5) in his first nativity. He's a star and is loving practicing his dancing and singing.
I also bought him a small lego set today and he's playing with it right now, making up little stories and doing all the characters voices. I love listening when hes doing this. So cute.

A lovely thread OP.

My DD submitted her final term essay at Uni, and now off for christmas. DS who has been struggling badly is finding life lighter right now. I had a good morning at an early yoga class and a swift effective swoop at a retail park for christmas shopping- home by 10am!
Now relaxing in a warm home, sipping peppermint tea.

lidoshuffle · 13/12/2019 18:17

Lovely chap repaired my very expensive (for me) sofa for 50 quid - I thought I was going to have to buy a new one.

I'm ecstatic really. Jorgen klopp has signed a four year contract with my football club. Fuck this Tory government.

Klopp has signed for another four years!! Yay!!

All the tots are wrecked after having a good runaround this afternoon, once everyone is asleep I'm having pizza Grin.

CaptainCallisto · 13/12/2019 18:26

When I rang my 96 year old granny today to check what she wanted me to bring for lunch tomorrow, she said "Absolutely nothing because I'm taking the four of you out to the village pub for lunch, my treat, and no arguing on that score please". She's a retired headteacher and still as feisty as ever. I know we won't have her much longer so moments like that are really precious 😊

I just finished my first year in my first perm job since I was made redundant 4 years ago and after a particularly challenging meeting with a range of senior managers the director of HR stopped me in the corridor and said he was really pleased that the company had hired me.

My brother is flying home from China for Christmas!!!

EspressoX10 · 13/12/2019 18:48

My non-verbal ASD beautiful girl just got her interim report from P2.

She's in a mainstream school and her behaviour and effort are both rated "Excellent". She's also on track at maths and was amazing in her nativity play.

Last year, in P1, she had daily meltdowns and no one believed she had a place in mainstream education.

I'm in tears (of happiness and gratitude).

CruCru · 13/12/2019 18:56

What a nice thread.

Today I watched my daughter in her nativity and all the children were super.

Then I helped out at the lower school’s Christmas party, which was straightforward.

My husband is cooking for us all tonight and tomorrow some lovely friends are coming over.

speakout · 13/12/2019 18:57

EspressoX10 just beautiful.

Well done to her- and to you for being a wonderful parent. Hearing your story warms my heart. No one knows what any individual is capapble of. Every person is valuable and has a gift to bring to this world. I know your daughter will find her place and teach others how valuable life is.

Holidaycountdown · 13/12/2019 18:59

I have the house to myself tonight, (except for the cat snoring by my feet) and pigs in blankets for dinner, winning 😁

Clarinet1 · 13/12/2019 19:04

What a great thread - whatever happens in the world of politics, the world will still keep turning and little blessings and excitements and even near miracles will still happen.
Perhaps mine today is that I think I may have finally found a range of products that will help my poor, very sore, chapped hands. And also, although I normally have to follow a low fat diet for health reasons, today I was having a test which actually required you to eat something high in fat so I went to the hospital cafe and had chicken burger and potato wedges!

TheFairyCaravan · 13/12/2019 19:06

DS1,25 tomorrow, has one more week left before he flies home. I haven't seen him since August, and no doubt this will be the longest week of all, but I really can't wait.

Pineappleofmyeye · 13/12/2019 19:06

I had a baby today! A little girl born at 8.08am she is our first and is perfect!

CaptainCallisto · 13/12/2019 19:09
