I mean... I do care about the election. But not today. Because today, after 3 and a half long, painful months of living with my PILs- the last 6 weeks with a new baby- DH and I have completed and are moving into our new home.

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Anyone vaguely familiar with my previous threads will know how indescribably happy this makes me! There have been times over the last few months where I have really had to work to keep my mental health under control, it’s honestly been one of the hardest times in my life, and now it’s over. We have our own home. It’s not big, it’s not fancy, but it’s ours, and finally DH, DS and I will be able to be together, just the 3 of us. An added bonus is that we are no longer living in IDS’s constituency...

I’ve no doubt I’ll be back to despairing over the state of the world and how our country is going to hell in a handbasket soon enough, but right now I couldn’t be happier. Life is good.

Anyone else got a reason to be cheerful today?

Congratulations pineapple and all mums, new mums and mums to be. I cheered up a fed up student with a truly outstanding exam result today and the smile on his face reminded me why I bother. It was a good moment. What a lovely thread.

I live in Denmark. Dd did Sankta Lucia at nursery today with her group. So fricking cute.

Not buying again just yet and already moved out so well and truly relieved!

My apartment block has a communal laundry in the basement. Great when the machines are working (they are generally OK, but series of unsuccesful engineers' visits since October).

Took to council laundry that adjoins the Gym. Over £10!!!
Woman gym customer who'd been complaining to reception (who'd also said to the receptionist to serve me & come back to her as it was clearly going to take a while to resolve her problem) kindly said I could use her membership card, which reduced the cost to about £7.
Loaded laundry, went back to take it out, assistants had already shoved it in the tumble drier, which I hadn't paid for, and its also additional for a service wash.
Went back to reception area, Laundry assistant called me back after ten minutes or so - I think they'd realised I'd not paid to have it service washed/dried - so unloaded my now nearly dry washing and walked back to car.
Traffic warden lurking near car - I said I had a permit for the area, but he explained the exact bay I'd parked in was pay by phone rather than residents space - but didn't issue a ticket.
Good morning - lots of Christmas spirit!

I had no idea how expensive it is to use a launderette though - must be a nightmare if you don't have access to a washing machine.

speakout What a lovely sentiment, thank you. You made me tear up again.

Hope you have a fantastic Christmas

I was so happy yesterday as it was the last day of school for my 3 DC so no more early rises and drop offs! Also my DH has finally started his chemo which had been delayed post surgery so we can finally finish his treatment ....

OP, I made nearly a full five months with my parents doing the same as you with your pils, I know your relief well!

My eldest told me today that she got her first ever 'extending' grade on a piece of work at school. She finds school work very hard because whilst she's bright and thinks way out of the box scientifically, historically and creatively, she's unable to focus and does the bare minimum. I'm pleased for her.

Today I'm off to buy my Brownie leader uniform. This is a big deal for me.

My youngest has let me cut a significant amount of her hair off. It would be too emotional, draining and long to explain why this is a huge positive.

DS played the last rugby match of his school career and SCORED A TRY!

Poltergeister · 14/12/2019 13:50

This week I got a promotion at work.
I've just had a hair cut and I've got a day out with DH tomorrow.
