And move on with a united country, can we stop bickering and accept what people have voted for?

I get the Weather comment soen

So some lefties...word used for ease... when they try joining charlottes political conversations are unable to join the debate cos charlotte and her friends will change the conversation to the weather

Kind of #nodebate

MangoStone · 14/12/2019 13:55

Sorry @amd4578 I was mostly taking the piss out of your word priminister.

But since you mention it Corbyn voted against the war whereas Johnson is fully on board with Conservative ideology. And also a racist homophobic liar of course. Definitely not someone I would be happy to call my priminister or my prime minister.

Frequency · 14/12/2019 13:55

I will not and cannot accept an action, actively wanted by only 37% of the population, that will worsen lives of 99% of the population. I think the whole thing is absurd.

RhinoskinhaveI · 14/12/2019 13:56

It will accelerate my plans to leave the country
Presumably for a better place where you can expect a better life?

Soen · 14/12/2019 13:57

Because Boris is a deplorable person who I woudlnt trust with crayons, and a leopard doesnt change its spots. Read up about all the things hes planning to do to the nhs. Go and find it on the internet. Do you think hes suddenly gained a conscience enough to stop being a racist cunt?

I find the cognitive dissonance of yourself to be unbelievable. You live in fantasy land.

PortiaCastis · 14/12/2019 13:57

I will never accept Brexit, that will be the worse thing to ever happen to the UK and my business.
I have to accept the election result but I don't like it and didn't vote for someone who is a misogynist
I will be amazed when 40,000 nurses appear from the cupboard under the stairs and 6000 gps appear from thin air.
I think after a year or so of the shit that's going to fly folks will have had enough

JediJim · 14/12/2019 13:58

I seem to remember the credit crunch of 2008. Woolworths was one of the first big casualties and many companies folded and people lost their job. This lead to recession, and ultimately cuts were made by then new coalition government in 2010.
I honestly think that whoever was in government then would have made government cut backs, even Labour stated they would. This was still stated in the 2015 election with Ed Miliband as leader.
It’s ridiculous people hoping that the country fails to prove that remainers were wrong, in that case everyone will be screwed.
I for one am looking forward to Xmas and going about my normal business which is to go to work to keep a roof over my head like millions of other people.
Blaming people for voting for someone or something is ridiculous, it’s people like this that is making the left even more hated.
I couldn’t care less who anyone else votes for in a democratic country, all I know is I’m back at work on Monday morning doing a job I dislike to pay for my child’s Xmas presents.

MangoStone · 14/12/2019 13:59

Blaming people for voting for someone or something is ridiculous

Who else should be blamed then for the consequences of their vote?

Soen · 14/12/2019 14:00

Ah gotcha, Rufus. To be honest I would hate to be involved in Charlotte's conversations because they sound like they are mostly spoken in riddles, with bits uncloncluded and not elaborated on which would drive me insane. I like my arguments to be clear and concise.

Equanimitas · 14/12/2019 14:05

53% voted for parties that endorsed a second referendum, so clearly YABU.

Soen · 14/12/2019 14:06

As already stated, no one hopes the country fails. I think at least half the people (based on this poll) feel that it will. Call it a forewarning, if you like.

JediJim · 14/12/2019 14:08

Mangostone so you’re saying that people should be blamed because they voted differently to you?
God help anyone else who disagrees with you

bumblingbovine49 · 14/12/2019 14:08

Do.people who.votedTory, believe they will end austerity? or do they think they shouldn't anyway?

If the former, those promises started in a panic when they thought they might lose the election or.get another hung parliament. Their majority means they don't have to do any of this now. I think they will.weasel out.of those promises as soon as possible.

If the latter, well you are everything that ' strident labour aupporters' say you are.

JediJim · 14/12/2019 14:10

Considering that this new government is barely 48 hours old, shouldn’t they be given a chance at least?

Cornettoninja · 14/12/2019 14:10

I don’t think any of the pessimist reactors truly want the tories/brexit to actually fail, I think they’re frightened (with good reason) and there’s very little to reassure them other than ‘now shake hands and get on with it’.

We are in politically turbulent times after a relatively peaceful couple of decades. It’s not a strange reaction for people to be concerned.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 14/12/2019 14:10

As a Scot, no I don’t bloody accept it.

Frequency · 14/12/2019 14:12

As already stated, no one hopes the country fails.

If I was completely honest, I would admit a sadistic part of me does want Brexit to be as bad as the experts say it will be because I want the country to recover it's collective brain cells. It seems to be missing most of them atm. The more sensible part of me realises I too have to live in whatever is left of the UK once the tories and Brexit have finished decimating it so I really, really want all the unicorns and rainbows promised by the Brexit supporters to appear once we 'get Brexit done' (which realistically won't be done for years, if not decades). Sadly, I don't hold out much hope for it all being sunshine and rainbows rather than food and medicine shortages, poverty and homelessness and the removal of worker's rights.

Soen · 14/12/2019 14:12

JediJim - we are giving them a chance, what else can we do? But its gonna be with absolute scrutiny. I dunno about you, but I like my politicians to be held to account. That's democracy.

MooseBreath · 14/12/2019 14:16

This "new government" has been in for 9 years. People are starving and dying. That has only gotten worse.

amd4578 · 14/12/2019 14:17

Haha I accept the spelling error, A previous poster mentioned it befor that if it does happen to get as bad as some people think then I'm sure there would be a vote of no confidence.

My frustrations come from reading the people that claim they could not get out of bed yesterday as they were so upset. Get a grip I hope those people do not have children.. Teaching them to sulk in bed all day if they don't get their own way is pretty embarrassing!

Like I said befor it's Christmas and surely even for the kids sake people can move on even for a couple of weeks and make Christmas about what it should be about.

MangoStone · 14/12/2019 14:18

No @JediJim I am saying that people must acknowledge and admit the consequences of their vote, whether they vote the same way as me or not. If Brexit turns out to be catastrophic then it's perfectly reasonable to blame the people who voted for it.

amd4578 · 14/12/2019 14:18

@MooseBreath yes but Boris has only been in for 5 months, that's like blaming corbyn for the war in Iraq and our financial position after the credit crunch!

Soen · 14/12/2019 14:20

Yeah Christmas- that well known time.of year when people are supposed to be a bit more charitable.

I'll hopefully be volunteering in a soup kitchen over xmas. To make someone else's life a little less shittier. Because it's not likely to get any better.

MangoStone · 14/12/2019 14:22

Considering that this new government is barely 48 hours old, shouldn’t they be given a chance at least?

It's not really a new government though is it? The Conservatives have been in power for several years and have presided over horrific cuts to the NHS, policing, education, welfare, social care. They are happy to chuck N.Ireland and the Good Friday Agreement under a bus. It's deluded to think they will take a different approach with a larger majority.

Soen · 14/12/2019 14:22

amd - you cant blame corbyn for Blair's atrocities. He actively voted against them.

We can blame boris for boris' atrocities. I really dont understand how you dont get this? So people aren't accountable for their own actions now?
