And move on with a united country, can we stop bickering and accept what people have voted for?

Katie hopkins Tweet. Hmmm nationalism? Where have I heard that before? Oh yes, that's right.... the Nazi party.

Will the UK now accept the vote
Soen · 14/12/2019 12:02

The day I jump onboard with racists will be the day my black ass turns blue

dementedma · 14/12/2019 12:04

An independent Scotland cannot "remain" in the EU, as I hear so often. Scotland is not in the EU. The UK is ( for now) in the EU.Scotland will have to appy to join and does not meet the current criteria in terms of defecit.

JediJim · 14/12/2019 12:11

I know people who voted both ways in the referendum and to be honest most of them just want to get on and leave. Does the vast majority of the British public really lose sleep over Brexit?
I actually think Johnson will get us a deal and even Farage thinks it’s not really Brexit but accepts its as near to it as it going to get. Basically a watered down Brexit.

This was a referendum in a way;
Vote Conservative-Leave
Vote Lib Dem- Remain
Vote Labour- Another referendum.

If the country wanted to remain and had changed it’s mind then the Tories wouldn’t have such a large majority would they?

JediJim · 14/12/2019 12:15

The Tories won seats in Labour strong holds like Bishop Auckland, Blyth Valley, Wakefield and even Sedgefield which is Tony Blair’s old constituency. This goes to show how strongly people felt to vote for a conservative.
I never thought I’d see some of these Labour strongholds go blue. This can’t be underestimated.

soen

I still dont get it

What do they mean by opposed democracy

I dont know whether i have or not...i mean i dont think ive opposed democracy

MamaFlintstone · 14/12/2019 12:19

I live in one of those areas and people shouldn’t underestimate the extent to which this wasn’t a vote for the Conservatives but a vote against Labour. Obviously Brexit was a large factor too. But these areas are not now Conservative areas. Few of the people who changed their lifetime voting habits would consider themselves Conservative. They’ve lent their vote to Johnson this time for specific reasons and it would be naive of the Conservatives to think they’d do so again unless he follows through on his promises (which he can’t, because they were based on a web of lies).

Soen · 14/12/2019 12:23

It was totally a Brexit vote, that's for sure. Unfortunately, we are now lumbered with the rest of the policies of this inhumane party.

Hey, quick question? If brexit is a totally distaster and we make ourselves poorer, where is the money going to come from to pay for the extra nurses, police etc?

Soen · 14/12/2019 12:25

@RufusthebewiIderedreindeer it wasnt me that said it. I was quoting a crazy person up thread. I dont understand what the fuck they are talking about either.

Thesinisterdiagram · 14/12/2019 12:27

Tories and leavers can unite the country by proving to remainers that leaving the EU is as great and beneficial for everyone as they said it would be.

I don't have high hopes.

Soen · 14/12/2019 12:28

I cant wait for Johnsons government to get rid of the courts system so they are never held accountable to the illegal.shit they will do. Page 48 of your manifesto, Tory voters.

mindproject · 14/12/2019 12:30

I will have to go along with it and suffer the consequences like everyone else. But I do not and will never accept this idiocy.

It's obvious to me that some people just want to learn the hard way. I am pissed off with every single person who vote for Brexit and every person who voted for the Tories. I will not help you in your hour of need.

Soen · 14/12/2019 12:33

Same, I wont help people but then I'm hoping I will still be able to help myself. Depends how messy it gets.

WeArnottamused · 14/12/2019 12:37

*I accept that there’s a thumping Conservative majority and that gives Johnson the mandate to deliver the things in his manifesto.

I will never accept Brexit and will fight to ensure the Conservative Party are the ones held responsible for the outcome of us leaving the EU.

I would support a campaign to rejoin the EU once we have left, even though the terms will be nowhere near as good as the current arrangements.*

Rainbunny · 14/12/2019 12:42

One thing I couldn't quite get my head around was the fact that over the last couple of years all polling had shown a shift in favour of remain amongst the electorate, yet the result in the GE seems so strongly at odds. Then I read an article in the New York Times which pointed out that on an aggregate level, 52% of voters in the UK voted for parties with a clear remain or second referendum platform and 46% of voters voted for parties promising to deliver brexit.

So not much has changed, the country is still completely divided. We're in for a long five years in which we'll be negotiating with the EU throughout - withdrawal, exit agreement, trade deal...

Perhaps in five years the public will have begun to experience the real life consequences of brexit upon our economy, public services etc. As the old Chinese curse says "May you live in interesting times" Sad

Turniptracker · 14/12/2019 12:43

Looking forward to brexiteers and conservative voters proving to us remoaners that what they asked for was the right thing. At this point I'd be ecstatic to be proved wrong. As a remainer and someone who cares about people other than myself I have completely given up on this country and the government, by all means please prove me wrong it would make a nice change from this fucking miserable rollercoaster we have been stuck on for three years.

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 14/12/2019 12:48

Sorry soen

I was agreeing with you...it Obviously didnt come across 😀

I thought maybe you had an insight...i didnt want to have opposed democracy accidentally

You’d like to think id have noticed...

DuckWillow · 14/12/2019 12:56

Tommy Robinson may have joined the Conservatives but I can almost guarantee they will kick him out. As they do all the far right extremists who join them .

Claire Khaw was booted out in weeks of joining once they realised her views.

Tommy "Yaxley-Lennon" Robinson will also get the boot.

As for Katie Hopkins I have no words. You don't seem to be able to report anything to Twitter these days. They just tell you to mute of block the person.

Can't decide if her epilepsy will kill her or she will piss off the wrong person who will take matters into their own hands. Either way she will be no loss when she goes. Hateful individual. She needs to have all her accounts removed so she can't continue posting her nasty remarks and comments.

Soen · 14/12/2019 12:58

Forgive me Rufus, I misread your post.

Well, here is my insight.... brace yourself😂 as far as I am aware, we live in the UK and it is indeed a democratic society. Might need to reference wikipedia to check that Wink

In order for democracy to work, its participants need to vote for the thing they want. If you did this, well done, you have taken part in a democracy. Have a medal. 😂😂😂

I think that's right, isnt it Rufus? Could you please pass this memo into CharlottesPleb?

Soen · 14/12/2019 13:01

I hope you're right duckwillow. But its these sorts of individuals that have aligned themselves with the tories. Doesn't look good, does it. Coupled with the in-party Islamophobia and the PMs racist views, I feel like we are heading back to a certain point in time. Only this time, its us doing the fascism.

Littletabbyocelot · 14/12/2019 13:02

I'm pretty sure there are a few extremists in the Tory party still. One of them wrote a book containing pretty much every racist stereotype going (hook nosed Jews, hot coffee coloured half castes) and another would like to strip women of any choice regarding abortion and thinks men shouldn't change nappies. They might kick Tommy out for being too obvious but Katie Hopkins is right about who's party it is

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 14/12/2019 13:06

No worries soen

Ah so partaking in the Democratic process of this country does NOT mean I oppose it

Thank fuck for that , smidge worried there

Hopefully charlotte is reading the thread and can expand further

JediJim · 14/12/2019 13:07

Surely the only way to unite the country is to leave?? Only the Lib Dem’s wanted to cancel the leave vote, this wouldn’t have been possible because they would never get into a majority government, like the Greens.
The only people that were offering a people vote was Labour, we all know what happened there.
Also another people’s vote would add more years of uncertainty and the fighting amongst parliament would never end.
Surely the only way forward is to leave with a deal that suits both us and the EU (?if possible), regardless of how people voted.
It’s the only way progress can be made in my opinion unless we have more years of uncertainty.

Soen · 14/12/2019 13:11

I think you're Rufus. I'm fairly certain we have done democracy right and we definitely aren't opposed to it. Christ, this is like an episode of Black Mirror Grin
