AIBU to just send him in with his uniform on?

So it's Christmas jumper day at DS school, we don't celebrate Christmas. Muslim household here, don't even have a Christmas jumper. AIBU to just send him in with his uniform? Feel sad that he might stick out like a sore thumb

Does he have a green or red top he could wear?

Just put a normal jumper or top on him

Just go non uniform, normal clothes.

I had this same discussion yesterday! How about you just send him in in something bright and colourful? Then he still feels like he got to wear something other than school uniform like the children who have worn a Christmas jumper.

I’d send him in casual clothes rather than uniform . I take it other kids will be wearing jeans etc with their Xmas jumpers ?

Does he not a own a single jumper? Just send him in his own clothes with any jumper.

I would just choose something cheerful looking. We are on our third Xmas jumper day in a week. She has no Xmas jumper so I’ve found things that look festive insteas

Go with a regular jumper that he likes.

Just put him in normal clothes,no need for uniform

It would be unkind to send him in school uniform. Send him in normal clothes; it doesn't even have to be a jumper, and let him join in with the non uniform day.

My son’s school allow you to send them in with a non Christmas jumper if you want. I hate Christmas jumpers with a passion!

Our school suggested a bright coloured jumper/top if you had no Christmas jumper, can you do that?

Just send him in his own clothes he will not be the only one.

There's not an issue with sending him in without a Christmas jumper.
However, if he does want to join in, any jumper will do!

Lots of poster here saying "send him in normal clothes" - this is terrible advice - you should be sending him in, wearing whatever clothes are the norm AT YOUR SCHOOL for this situation . My DC's schools have always said that Christmas jumpers were worn in place of school jumpers, so sending a DC in wearing mufti would be totally wrong - but normal school uniform would not particularly stick out.

I'd treat it as a 'wear your own top' day, and let him wear whatever he likes.

Ours is having dress down/dress festive so they don't need to have a Christmas jumper on at all. Is it a fully dress down day I.e. not just an exchange of jumpers? If so, I'd just put him in casual clothes

For those saying "don't send in in full own clothes" - our school actually says you can do Christmas jumper + uniform, Christmas jumper + own clothes, whatever you want, daft hats, school uniform or anything as long as it's sensible.

Our school don't give much of a stuff about uniform really!

How old is he? Send him in whatever you think he will be happiest in. Its fundraising for Save The Children, I don't think the charity recipients could care less what the kids wear but the money is very helpful.

Surely you've had more than one hour to think about this? It wouldn't have hurt to get him a jumper with a polar bear on or just a jumper with a wintery pattern.

Just send him in a cheery jumper as others have said.

Some schools will do school trousers with a Christmas jumper, so check what the others are wearing.

I forgot to send my DS in one today
I'm sure he won't be the only one (thankfully not in uniform yet, so just in normal clothes).

Just send him in normal day clothes.

It's a bad idea all round. Not everyone celebrates Christmas. And not everyone owns an Christmas jumper (they're expensive and are only worn for a very short amount of time). Also it's too hot to wear a jumper all day!

I’m a bit baffled that at our school it’s Christmas jumper day but they have to wear school uniform it’s just the jumper...I didn’t buy jumpers I got them t-shirts.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous...and so very very wasteful.

I really dislike the wastedulness of it, so many mums buying cheap jumpers as pretty much single use. Costs more than donation to save the children and probably is made by some poor kid somewhere.

Over years my kids have worn:
A red cardigan my MiL knitted (originally long line so lasted ages)
Jumper with something pinned on (present bow type thing etc).
Ordinary clothes but with nod to red or green.
A fair isle print jumper again bought big to last more than one year and I just pulled it out the loft for ds2 to wear as 6 year gap between my sons.

At their schools mufti would have been better than uniform.
