Fed up of labour voters righteousness

The amount of people I’ve seen on social media say -

I’m voting labour because I don’t hate poor people / disabled people / the elderly etc

I’m just fed up of it

It’s as bad as children’s charities saying that if you don’t donate then you obviously condone child abuse.

No, it doesn’t mean I hate poor people or the disabled or the wealthy.

You don’t get this from the LIb Dems supporters, or Green Party Supporters or Tories

"Left wingers are being so right wing it's hilarious."

It's not left v right though, is it?

It's totalitarian v liberalism. It's different measures. Stalin was left wing but I don't think anyone would claim he was a liberal guy.

The Left have always been like this. I grew up in a Communist becoming hardcore Labour family in the 60s/70s/80s and they were always zealots and bigots. They just didn't have social media to spread it like they do now

Well one thing we can be sure of is that the continual bombarding of labour on social media has done nothing to improve their vote.

I did one will be glad to come out from under the rock I've been hiding in. The "democratic" labour fog horns at my place of work have made it hard to believe that any other choice is allowed.

Why are people not being challenged on their 'poor and disabled people arnt worse off under tories because I know a couple' bullshit?

Report

'The report, Poverty Britain, points to government figures that show the number of individuals in families that include a disabled person and were in relative poverty (after housing costs) increased from 4.3 million in 2010-11 to 5.5 million in 2017-18, an increase of 1.2 million.'

'Poverty Britain also points to Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) research that found disabled people had been disproportionately affected by austerity measures introduced by successive Tory-led governments between 2010 and 2017.'

Homelessness has risen by 160% since 2010. A tory voter responded to this the other day with ''yeah thats cause the population has risen.''

Why can the right just not stop lying? Look at the statistics so freely available for once. If you think you arnt harming the poor and disabled you're a liar or an idiot. My life has been made a misery since 2010 by this shit.

Clearly you don't mind voting for the Labour Party after the things they have done, I would expect you have thought it through and made up your own mind with the best intentions rather than assuming you are evil or stupid.

At least you're on trend.

Poverty hasn’t really changed in the last 20 years. Some figures are better under the Tories than they were under Labour

That graph is massively dicredited on the site its posted, its based on a misunderstanding of absolute poverty and is used as a bad example, did you deliberately chose to not post that bit?

blogs.savethechildren.org.uk/2019/03/uk-child-poverty-rising-record-levels/

'Our analysis shows that since 2010, over 400,000 more children in households with children under 5 are in poverty, an increase of over a quarter over this period.'

www.ifs.org.uk/uploads/publications/comms/R136.pdf

Some non ridiculous graphs

www.bigissue.com/latest/child-poverty-in-the-uk-will-hit-a-record-high-in-2019/

'Government figures showed over four million children in the UK were living in relative poverty in 2018. That’s one in three. Now The Big Issue has learned that this number will rise over the next five years as Universal Credit takes hold, increasingly pushing more and more families into poverty.'

'New figures from the Resolution Foundation this week indicate that the number of children living in relative poverty is on course to hit 37 per cent, topping the previous record high of 34 per cent recorded in the ‘90s. By the end of 2019, it could be the majority of children in single parent families or in larger families – with two or more children – living in relative poverty.''

Poverty having 'not really changed' from 20 years ago (and its mostly worse) is a disgrace

My dh family chat has been full of the hand wringing today! Some pretty racist remarks about the stupid british (they’re from another part of the U.K.), apparently we are all going to hell and should leave the country, etc. They can’t see that the attitude of “your vote is wrong” is so alienating and damaging. I didn’t vote Tory but I can see clearly how infuriating the superiority complex of the educated left is. Sick to the back teeth of it!

I really don’t think that’s unusual.
I have been known as my current user name for a little while now
