Fed up of labour voters righteousness

The amount of people I’ve seen on social media say -

I’m voting labour because I don’t hate poor people / disabled people / the elderly etc

I’m just fed up of it

It’s as bad as children’s charities saying that if you don’t donate then you obviously condone child abuse.

No, it doesn’t mean I hate poor people or the disabled or the wealthy.

You don’t get this from the LIb Dems supporters, or Green Party Supporters or Tories

Mmmm yes because you don’t get Tory voters saying that the homeless are scum, that single mothers are benefit scroungers and that the disabled don’t deserve a decent wage.

All the politicians are lying.
Non of them will do what they say they will.

At least labour were aiming for something slightly compassionate to those less fortunate and at least they seem marginally less racist/sexist/homophobic/set on destroying the nhs.

I think the labour campaigns have been mainly focused on the generation that is voting now for the first time

I agree actually.

I'm only slightly to the right of Kim Jong Un but this attitude still does my head in.

Someof these people really need to try to understand where other people are coming from. My working class PILs are conservative through and through and though I don't agree with their politics at all, I get it at least.

They don't hate poor people, they ARE poor people.

Most of the people I know who have the attitude of hating Tory supporters have never been within a mile of anyone poor anyway. I used to be a member of the Labour party and had to give up going to meetings because of all the luvvies who would talk over anyone who had actually experienced any of the issues affecting the country.

At my dd's school...Labour won, followed by The Green party.... I live in a safe conservative seat, but the younger generation round her all support Corbyn. It's a real generational thing.

If there's one thing the young are very good at, it's spending other people's money. They are natural Corbynistas.

I'm a floating voter.

My Facebook feed is full of people, specifically labour voters, shocked at the exit poll results.

The problem is that they been such vicious twats towards anyone that even hinted at voting Tory that they've created their own echo chamber and, a bit like on here, very few people can be arsed explaining their own position and reasoning when faced with such utter vitriol.

I long for the days when there was some dignity in politics. This election has been all about who can throw the most mud and get it to stick. I find the overwhelming number of posts on here and Facebook from labour supporters calling anyone who votes differently to them the most awful names and accusing them of all sorts, really abhorrent - take a good look at the labour party if you want to see why people aren't voting for them. They're a fucking joke. Corbyn needs to resign, tonight. And I did vote labour, but not happily. they didn't deserve my vote, but I had to vote for someone. When they lose, they only have themselves to blame. Its all a race to the bottom.

I have ALWAYS voted LD but I have a severely disabled child.....I was lied to about Brexit and the NHS .....today i voted labour for the first time ever !

Most of my DB friends did too so maybe choose your friends better.....every Conservative supporter i know earns a hell of a lot more than us and doesn't rely on the NHS either !

If the NHS is totally ruined after this .....a hospital's neglect nearly killed my son this year !

This exit poll has brought out some really ugly posts.

Yes, people have really strong emotions, understandably. But are the insults really necessary? Sad

Theyre all as bad as each other. I can respect that people have different views, no problem with it, but i cant abide by all the mud slinging name calling idiocy that seems to be accompanying it.

This election has turned people who i thought were nice normal rational people into agressive, obsessive, actually quite ignorant self centred twats.

It makes me realise that quite a lot of people are actually very selfish and intolerant. I imagine whichever way it goes, when it all goes tits up as it always does regardless of whos in power there will be some people feeling incredibly silly about their previous facebook propaganda.

My social media is a name-calling Labour bubble, and so many of them have been throwing around crap like how if you don’t vote Labour you hate disabled people. I’m a disabled person and I voted Tory. And I find it hilarious when someone can’t get their head around it.

Writer I have disabled people in my family and they didn't fair better under labour.

Having said that I feel much is left to be desired and I think we can all lobby for that now.... Now money won't be fleeing the UK.

I would rather take a cheese grater to my face than vote Tory, but I agree with you.

I believe many people have done, and are going to, suffer under a Tory government. But the sort of furious social media frothing I've seen almost cheapens that fact. It's too black and white, it's too personal. People are reading Denise from work's FB status about Tory voters hating children and thinking "well my lovely old nan votes Tory, who do you think you are, Denise" and plus it's Britain, people don't do overemotional statements, it embarrasses them.

The biggest culprits on my own social media also seem to be blue of hair and short of employment, to put it bluntly. I'm not making any sort of judgement on that myself, I couldn't care less, but a lot of people absolutely will judge, and it does feel as though the frothy ones are playing into the hands of the Tory propoganda machine

@Wilberforce1 too true. Undemocratic fascists are all I've seen on my timeline. "You can vote for anyone you like as long as it's labour."

A close friend of mine (who know that many of us vote Tory) was quite happy to post "you'd have to be a complete idiot to vote Tory" etc. They are the most undemocratic party going.

I agree politics should be about debate. Not devaluing others choices by abusive labels.

Most people do care about other people a great deal and it does our own humanity no good to suggest otherwise.

Yanbu

I have always found this ridiculous that some people feel they are morally superior because they place their X next to Labour

It’s never made me feel I am a better or kinder person just that my politics is more to the left

And certainly couldn’t feel morally superior voting for a party where long life supporters and those who have dedicated years to the party are hounded out by prejudice

@Bollykecks all I see is hypocrisy. We have different parties for a reason. So people can democratically make their choice. Yet labour supporters will openly berate anyone for opposing labour.

Undemocratic. And yes fascistic. If you want to control in an authoritarian or intolerant way, you are a fascist. Left wingers are being so right wing it's hilarious.

Thing is, the exit poll looks like the majority of us disagree with their vitriol.

I think a lot of them should reflect on their hectoring and bullying behaviour. The majority of people have been quiet while they've been mouthing off becsuse, quite simply, they do not share your views.
