If so, how long do you think you will last before your eyelids droop and you nod off?

I reckon I can last until about 3ish.

No, the final result will probably be in when I wake up- I don't see the point of staying up, personally. But enjoy.

StandardLampski · 12/12/2019 19:45

I normally do but predict a fairly busy day work tomorrow so.... will prob go to bed midnight... sleep terribly... check phone throughout night...hopefully not wake to the horror of the last few results...

BloomedAgain · 12/12/2019 19:46

@lavenderbongo if you can handle a Murdoch channel there's always sky news live on youtube. I think there are a couple of English language European news channels streaming too.

Happygirl79 · 12/12/2019 19:47

No. I will be asleep by 11
The result will be no different whether I stayed up all night or go to bed to sleep
But I will feel better tomorrow having slept regardless of who wins
I have voted and can but dream that my party get in power

RedLipstickHighHeels · 12/12/2019 19:47

I’ll watch a bit, always like John Curtice

Thirtyrock39 · 12/12/2019 19:48

My plan is to get up at 5am to see what's going on. From previous elections nothing gets going till around 230am

Thestaffarealwayswrong · 12/12/2019 19:50

Yeah, I will be but only because I'm on Nightshift 😁 I'll probably check in a couple of times to see results but I'll be busy so won't be watching it iyswim.

doradoo · 12/12/2019 19:52

@lavenderbongo I think it's streamed internationally via the bbc news website.

ForalltheSaints · 12/12/2019 19:52

No as I have work tomorrow and in any case many of the results don't come in until the early morning. Watching the people of this country re-elect a government headed by the worst Prime Minister ever in the UK isn't going to be fun in any case.

OlaEliza · 12/12/2019 19:53

@BloomedAgain Can I? I'll check that out, thank you 😁

tabulahrasa · 12/12/2019 19:57

Yep, always stay up and watch it... I sometimes flag a bit around 4 and fall asleep for a bit.

It’s not about the result being different if I stay up, I like seeing it happen is all.

PatsyStone39 · 12/12/2019 19:58

For those abroad wanting to watch - search for freeintertv.

If I start watching the exit polls at ten, i'll be hooked in all night - so may ban myself and stick with MN!

twinguineapigs · 12/12/2019 20:00

@MrOnionsBumperRoller they are so cute - there's a thread in AIBU with a photo.

EpcotForever · 12/12/2019 20:00

I'll just see in the morning, too tired to stay up with young kids.

waspfig · 12/12/2019 20:02

I love staying up on election night but toddler woke me at 5am this morning and will most likely be up again tonight. Also baby will need feeding through the night.

My plan is to head to bed now and check in every couple of hours when they wake Grin

BloomedAgain · 12/12/2019 20:04

My lovely new Irish neighbour has piped in and we have an electoral law question. Is she obliged to register to vote, we know she can but don't know if she's obliged to register as UK citizens are. There seem to be some special rules for Irish citizens? She just moved here and isn't sure how long she'll stay.

BloomedAgain · 12/12/2019 20:04

*popped in

Kyvia · 12/12/2019 20:04

Yup I always stay up if possible, and no work tomorrow. I pull the sofa bed out downstairs and snuggle in.

I usually have a dozen Krispy Kremes to share with OH to get us through (never finish them).... but he’s away and I don’t have the car to go get any. Is it bad I’m thinking of getting Deliveroo to bring me some? Seems too decadent!

AloneLonelyLoner · 12/12/2019 20:08

I accidentally (forgetting the day) took a sleeping tablet ten minutes ago!!! Bloody idiot! I was hoping to stay up most of night. Bollocks.

crispysausagerolls · 12/12/2019 20:09

@Kyvia

Get the Krispy Kremes. I want some now!

RedRosie · 12/12/2019 20:10

@05colouringinpro spot on with "it's the hope that kills you".

Sad
AngeloMysterioso · 12/12/2019 20:20

I shouldn’t be, because I’m moving house tomorrow and it’s gonna be a long day, but I have a 5 week old baby so I may have no choice...

nononever · 12/12/2019 20:24

Yawning my head off already so I fear it will be early doors here. Been up since before 5am. I'd like to stay up though.

Oblomov19 · 12/12/2019 20:26

Definitely not. The final votes won't be in till 4am will they?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 12/12/2019 20:26

The way exit polls are done has changed. Polling companies like You Gov have been sampling voting intentions in each constituency for weeks. I do You Gov polls and I have been asked several times which candidate I was going to vote for and how likely I was to vote. So I think they have a reference set of data for each constituency and can sense check against exit polls.
