It's closer than ever. They have promised to end homelessness, fix the NHS, the biggest grants ever to improve home insulation, pay the WASPI women the money that was taken from them and so much more.

The only down side is people earning over 85k will pay 5% more tax. It's so little for so much.

It's closer than ever and I the country would be so much better with labour.

Fuck Labour. I am voting Tory. Until you lot sort out the antisemitism, you have no chance.

Samar Alami and Jawad Botmeh were convicted in the 1990s in connection with a car bomb explosion outside the Israeli Embassy in London and another against a building in London that housed a number of British Jewish charities. Not only did Corbyn run a campaign to get these two released from prison, but when they were released he acted as a character referee for at least one of them, claiming that Botmeh was a suitable person to be involved in the governance of a British university.

Both Alami and Botmeh have maintained their innocence; Amnesty International stated that Mr Botmeh had been "denied [his] right to a fair trial",[16] Numerous groups and individuals campaigned on behalf of the pair, including the government of Palestine, Amnesty International, Unison (Britain's largest trade union),[17] human right activist Gareth Peirce, investigative journalist Paul Foot, and Miscarriages of JusticeUK (MOJUK),[18] Support for Alami and Botmeh's appeal attracted cross-party support in Parliament – five early day motions raised by John Austin MP were supported by a total of 71 Members of Parliament, including Labour Party MPs Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell, Conservative Party MPs Peter Bottomley and Robert Jackson, and Liberal Democrats Tom Brake and Colin Breed. Beyond the early day motions, further support for a review of the conviction by parliamentarians included Ian Gilmour, Baron Gilmour of Craigmillar and Harry Cohen.[19][20]

YABVU

I am not voting tory. But I wouldn't say picking a party dogged by anti semitism, whose policies don't seem to be costed, and who don't have a clear stance on one of the current biggest issues (Brexit) is a 'no brainer'.

Also things like 'ending homelessness' is very vague - how? People aren't just homeless because of a lack of housing. It includes reasons like there is a lack of mental health services, lack of help for people leaving the army, lack of addiction treatment, difficulties in intervening in cases of abuse by family members, lack of social care, issues with rehabilitation of offenders, problems with the benefits system etc etc. How long do you think it will take to tackle just one of these, such as improve mental health services or addiction services, you have to recruit and train professionals which takes a few years then engage people and work with them for years. We're talking about a generation before one of these things are fixed. I know it's a worthy goal, and a lot of their other policies would have a knock on effect of reducing homelessness, but I doubt it will ever be eradicated.

Also evidence does show that there is a tipping point where if you raise taxes over this point, people dont invest in the UK or high earners choose to live somewhere else, or they start getting creative with their accounting and the total amount collected drops

PlinkPlink · 11/12/2019 16:54

The anti semitism in Labour is disgusting. I can't believe I live in a country where this still exists. I can't believe he's done so little to deal with it and the response he gave the other night on how he 'dealt' with it was so goddamn flimsy.

It's disgusting.

On top of that, he keeps promising to solve all these problems and I still can't see how he will solve them all. How is he going to make sure all of those are accomplished? Financially speaking? Just by taxing those who earn over 85k? I don't think so. And when he realises he can't do it all, what is he going to prioritise first?

And Brexit?! Fucking Brexit?! What infuriates me most about this sodding election is how every single party puts this first!!! How the fuck is Brexit or taxing high income earners or the NHS going to matter when our country in 2 metres underwater?!!

The climate crisis should be our number one concern and instead all I've seen on here is hundreds of threads on Brexit, hundreds of threads on Labour v Conservative, or I heart JC or BoJo is a knobend. Why?! Narrowminded. Short sighted. Pathetic!!!!

They're all shit
They all lie
They all break their promises

Someone fucking deal with the climate!!!!!!!!!!! and breathe

TonTonMacoute · 11/12/2019 16:54

Tories have destroyed our country

What? Destroyed our country? How the fuck is it destroyed? What hysterical hyperbolic crap. Do you people just unquestioningly gobble up Labour propaganda. Do you ever bother to compare us with other countries?

If Labour's own MPs are saying don't vote for Labour, anti-semitism is rife and Corbyn is a threat to the security of the country, why would anyone vote for them? Buggered if I'm going to and it has nothing to with my earnings.

If you think the country is destroyed now, you ain't seen nothing compared with the damage McDonnell will do.

NiteFlights · 11/12/2019 16:57

I'm not voting labour because 40% income tax is more than enough for someone earning £85k.

They’d be paying a whopping £20 a month more under Labour’s tax proposals. I think most people earning £85k could manage that.

Luckylassiam · 11/12/2019 16:58

Fuck off, Labour bot

Saku · 11/12/2019 16:58

Not Voting Labour just because They think

White girls rapes are OK

And one of them Labour MP, Naz Shah tweets-
"These rape victim girls should shut up their mouths about child grooming and rapes for 'Good of diversity'".

And as Labour welcomes I dont want to welcome

Lone Wolfs in sheep skin returning from Syria.

wafflyversatile · 11/12/2019 16:58

dogged by accusations of anti-semitism. There is no evidence that anti-semitism is more prevalent in Labour than in the population in general.

Their manifesto has the costings. many economomists have signed a letter supporting their plans and the costings for them.

Their stance on brexit is clear. Negotiate the best deal they can get with the EU then put it to the public vote against remain.

I am Jewish but will be voting Labour and am a supporter of JC.
Sadly there are alot of people who have been fooled by the constant lies told in the press- by media barons who want to hold on to and increase there wealth and power. The comments JC made were not about Jewish ppl but about Israel, I wouldn't expect the Christians to go mad if he had a go at Spain. The whole thing has been spung in the same way as the controversy about the IRA. People need to look at policies and the actions and not act like sheep and follow the lies who will happily destroy this country and the people in it for greed.

Sherrybabyy · 11/12/2019 17:02

It’s not all about income tax. There are other issues too you know and plenty of reasons people should vote anyone but labour

NiteFlights · 11/12/2019 17:02

Labour's own MPs are saying don't vote for Labour

Sir John Major is saying a Conservative majority would be a disaster.

detachablehoof · 11/12/2019 17:03

Sir John Major is saying a Conservative majority would be a disaster.

@niteFlights only because he is a staunch Remainer

user1497207191 · 11/12/2019 17:03

They’d be paying a whopping £20 a month more under Labour’s tax proposals. I think most people earning £85k could manage that.

If you believe that, you're deluded. What about the costs of higher interest rates, worsening exchange rates, higher inflation, higher unemployment, higher indirect taxes. There's absolutely no way that £20 per month from a relatively small number of higher paid people will pay the billions promised by Labour.

TonTonMacoute · 11/12/2019 17:04

@Luckylassiam

Thank you! I usually give these threads a miss if I'm honest, but couldn't resist.

NiteFlights · 11/12/2019 17:05

It’s not all about income tax. There are other issues too you know. Yes, indeed. Just pointing out that Labour’s income tax proposals are not quite as diabolical as some seem to think. In any case, as has been said already, plenty of higher earners are Labour supporters.

missmoz · 11/12/2019 17:06

I think the Islamophobia and racism in the Tory party is far more prevalent and insidious than antisemitism in the Labour party...not that this is racism top trumps but how can we take one party to task and not the other for racism in their party? Why has Johnson not been asked to apologise for this as Cobryn has?

Boris Johnson wrote an actual book with antisemitic depictions of Jewish characters...he called Muslim women pillar boxes, Tory candidate have been sharing anti-Islamic tweets in the run up to the election. Not to mention his disgusting homophobic comments. How is a Tory government safe for minorities?

TonTonMacoute · 11/12/2019 17:06

How the fuck is Brexit or taxing high income earners or the NHS going to matter when our country in 2 metres underwater?!!

Current IPCC predictions are that sea levels could rise by about half a metre by 2100. Where on earth do you get all this hysterically inaccurate rubbish from?

SJaneS48 · 11/12/2019 17:11

I totally get why my Jewish friends won’t be voting Labour. My Dad (Jewish & Tory) has been very upset with me for being out on the streets canvassing for them. Yes a lot of it is total bollocks but let’s be straight, there has been some genuine anti Semitic behaviour & comments that are unacceptable in a party that stands for equality for all.

Voting Tory isn’t more acceptable though - 3 of their candidates are currently under investigation for anti Semitic behaviour. The Tory rhetoric around Ed Miliband & bacon sandwiches was disgusting. Anti semitism is rife within the Tory party as is racism - Zac Goldsmith’s mayoral campaign anyone??

I think the answer is don’t desert Labour, be the change.

Cheeseandwin5 · 11/12/2019 17:11

and as if to prove the point along comes @Saku, blindly listening to lies and repeating them as fact.
Go and check the facts.

BlackCherryBliss · 11/12/2019 17:12

I will be glad when Friday morning rolls around so all the Labour party activists and Momentum members bombarding this site like a plague of locusts can shut the fuck up and piss off just like they did last election.

Funny how they have a certain type of user name, a nothing - two week posting history and talk like students of politics/naive twats. A fake naivety at that...yuck.

I fucking despise stealth campaigners with a passion and yes, they are nearly all Labour.

I wonder, because I don't know and cannot be arsed to research, if it is illegal to basically do political party affiliated advertising on internet forums without declaring a vested interest.

Not saying this is you OP but it has become impossible to tell who is genuine on here any more.

I am freaking sick of it.

AlexaAmbidextra · 11/12/2019 17:12

voteJC

I know which way I intend to vote tomorrow and it isn’t for Labour. Do you honestly think that having read your OP I will now suddenly change my mind? Do you think anyone will?
