I find Corbyn deeply unsettling

There is something about the man that makes me shudder - the cold detachment of the man.

I really do worry about what would be unleashed if he were elected.

I can cope with much of the sentiment in the Labour manifesto, but not the man. Similar feelings about Mc Donnell, but he seems to manage to pull out some humanity in interviews

I have heard Corbyn speak in person and was struck by his warmth, humility and good humour.
He is a million times better than the slippery snake that is Boris.
I will be proudly voting for both Corbyn and Labour.

wafflyversatile · 11/12/2019 01:00

When did you see his bank account? Grin

Don't grasp at straws. His worth is in the public domain and it doesn't take a lot of wit to look it up, although it takes a lot of chutzpah to pretend he's not a multi millionaire.

wafflyversatile · 11/12/2019 02:59

I did google. I couldn't find anything saying he has £3m in the bank, as you claim. His house is worth a lot being in london, and his salary is top 1% which he will tax if hes voted in. I also found a very weirdly worded article in something called spears magazine. When I see things that are weirdly worded I tend to think they are trying to deceive or they would not use language so unnaturally.

I can believe his net worth is £3m but cant find anything yo back up your claim.

BlackSwanGreen · 11/12/2019 06:00

Corbyn isn’t your average leader, but I think maybe it’s his time.
Everyone is so sick of lying, cheating BJ.
I’ll be voting Labour for the first time.

bogginmacaroni · 11/12/2019 06:20

He's a bit of a hippie but he's known for his kindness. I've met John McDonnell and he is a genuine person. He gets how hard it can be for people to struggle when they are disadvantaged in life. A lovely man. I would rather have these two compassionate humans than the odious, racist, 'over educated beyond his intelligence' Johnson any day of the week. When you have old, experienced senior Conservatives telling you not to vote Tory, (like Major and Hesletine) you know you have to voted anyone but Boris.

“ His worth is in the public domain and it doesn't take a lot of wit to look it up”
The figures quoted that show him to be a multi millionaire include the current value of his house and the total of the salary he had earned over his working life. Many people are multi millionaires by those criteria!

But even if he really was as rich as his detractors claim, surely the fact that he intends to target tax increases at the better off is a point in his favour? Tory tax policies concentrate on lowering tax for the better off!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 11/12/2019 06:34

You find JC more unsettling than BJ ??!
Wow.

Considermesometimes · 11/12/2019 06:38

I find the idea of Corbyn running the country as chilling too op. I am a labour supporter and member.

There are lots of Momentum supporters on here, but in the real world most people feel like you. I come from a long line of labour supporters and not one member of my family and extended family will vote for him tomorrow. We are too scared of what he will do to the country.

BertrandRussell · 11/12/2019 06:41

“ We are too scared of what he will do to the country.”

What will he do to the country? Specifically?

You don't have to actually like Corbyn to vote Labour.

I like him and his policies but find him politically naïve. Too honest, if you like. You have to tell people what's in it for them, not just say "Well, this is a good and kind thing to do."

It wouldn't be what he would do to the country, it would be what the pervading narrative about him would do to the country. All the rich, miserly tossers who can't bear to give as much as 50p more towards better public services who would gradually withdraw investment. Not knowing, or caring that capitalism will actually eat itself if there are not enough people who are able to buy stuff in sufficient quantity.

Juliette20 · 11/12/2019 07:03

I am far more scared about what 5 more years of Tories will do to the country though. And Boris in particular, who would sign up to anything if it makes him look good. Brexit will be the worst economic decision ever made by any government and it is far more likely to happen under the Conservatives. If they "get it done" there will only be more uncertainty for business as trade and other negotiations rumble on for a decade, while the economy limps along as businesses struggle with all the changes, and to make and get any investment due to the uncertainty.

madeyemoodysmum · 11/12/2019 07:04

It’s isn’t about miserly tossers not wanting to spend 50p. It’s about potential bankruptcy (again) under labour.

I don’t want that for my children as it’s them them at will have to pay the price for short term fixes now.

Juliette20 · 11/12/2019 07:08

Loads of businesses will go under. Loads of jobs lost. The tax revenue will be pitiful. Boris doesn't understand business. Fuck business, he said. Public services will be on their knees, particularly the NHS- we think it's bad now but it could be a hell of a lot worse. Poverty and homelessness will increase massively, racism and right wing views will increase. We will become a far poorer and much nastier country. It's absolutely vile and yet people are voting for this.

Juliette20 · 11/12/2019 07:10

I don’t want that for my children as it’s them them at will have to pay the price for short term fixes now.

If you are thinking of voting Conservative you are almost certainly voting for bankruptcy and something our children will be paying the price for, for the rest of their lives.

Juliette. I respectfully disagree

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 11/12/2019 07:17

I find the likelihood of another 5 years of Tory government fucking unsettling. More poverty, homeless people dying on our streets, more shitting on the NHS. I'm also fucking unsettled that people can't see through the media bias and fucking Boris Johnson's utter narcissism and callous ineptitude.

ethelfleda · 11/12/2019 07:19

I like Corbyn. I’d love to join him on his allotment for a pint and a chat.

whatyournamebabee · 11/12/2019 07:19

I can't wait for Thursday to be over. Labour won't get in thankfully, there isn't a magic money tree. Be realistic, no party gets everything right, parliament interferes. Corbyn is not up to the job.

Mummadeeze · 11/12/2019 07:20

He cares deeply about people who have been less fortunate in life - as we all should. I saw a woman ask people for money to eat at a station the other day. She looked homeless and was clearly a drug addict from her appearance. I didn’t give her any money but obviously I felt sorry for her. The man next to me said to her in a pompous voice - ‘I work to buy money to eat’. What people like him don’t realise is that they are lucky. I don’t doubt he has worked hard, but anyone, including him, could have had a different life / different genes / much harder circumstances that have led to him not being able to work. Jeremy Corbyn appreciates this fact. He doesn’t look down on people in the way that Boris and his family clearly do. Despite being able to afford to pay for private health care, he wants good free healthcare for everyone. He is principled and fair. Why should someone who has been fortunate enough to get a good career be better looked after when they are seriously ill than someone who hasn’t? There but for the grace of God Go you or I or any person. Jeremy Corbyn is a good man. And he doesn’t deserve the bad press he gets. Do some more research - get informed. Your ‘gut feeling’ has been fed to you by people with an agenda.
