I find Corbyn deeply unsettling

There is something about the man that makes me shudder - the cold detachment of the man.

I really do worry about what would be unleashed if he were elected.

I can cope with much of the sentiment in the Labour manifesto, but not the man. Similar feelings about Mc Donnell, but he seems to manage to pull out some humanity in interviews

Some bonkers hyperbole going on here!

tttigress · 10/12/2019 23:20

I think McDonald is actually worse, Corbyn is more of a naive person that sees the best in terror groups etc.

Where as McDonald wants to change the country drastically for the worse.

Paintedmaypole · 10/12/2019 23:26

I think Corbyn is calm and measured rather than cold. He is mostly very even tempered. I wonder if he does some form of meditation. I do think he cares but he is a bit Zen.

Sparklesocks · 10/12/2019 23:26

Goodness some true hysteria in this thread...

rwalker · 10/12/2019 23:27

Frightens me I think he insights division he goes for the vulnerable telling them what they want to hear and how hard done buy they are .

The public purse is the same as every other purse it's not bottomless as he would make them believe

He seems to RESENT/HATE anyone who has been sucessful and would delight in stripping them of what they have worked for.

chergar · 10/12/2019 23:27

What are the main issues - what is worst case scenario if Conservatives or Labour win.

What policies do you agree/disagree with from either side?

astralweaks · 10/12/2019 23:28

It’s McDonnell not McDonald.

MistyCloud · 10/12/2019 23:29

@hamstersarse

I thought Corbyn was a breath of fresh air when he first became leader. I thought many of the things that his supporters on here thought - integrity, honesty, compassion.

I'm not entirely sure what it was that changed my mind, perhaps a series of events, but I find him the complete opposite of that now. His virtue signalling and smugness is unbearable. People who are genuinely caring and compassionate do not constantly point it out themselves, they do it through their actions.

He genuinely thinks he is the most compassionate person in the whole country. And he encourages his supporters to join that bandwagon - "support me and you too can be seen as morally superior"

It amazes me that his supporters just blindly think that anyone who doesn't vote for him is a 'murderer' and 'racist' and doesn't care about the social issues in this country. The irony being that is the very definition of not being compassionate.

People on the left now are so busy telling everyone what fantastic woke compassionate people they are, they have completely lost sight of reality.

Nail on head. Totally agree!

And on that note, I am off to bed. Smile

pigoons · 10/12/2019 23:36

can't stand him. Think he is dishonest (remember the train incident anyone?) - i worry about his simplistic approach to the issues and problems facing society at the moment. Seems to want to take us back to the 1970s. Typical career politician - background in trade union and then moved straight to politics - and I think people like this lose touch with the real world and the concerns of most of their constituents

Cattenberg · 10/12/2019 23:43

I know a decent man (a member of the Green Party) who says he’s known Corbyn for more than twenty years and really likes him.

I actually agree with a lot of Corbyn’s ideas. Would renationalising the railways really be so terrible? Surveys have shown that the majority of Britons are in favour of this.

I don’t think Corbyn is right for the job of Prime Minister. At best he’s been weak at tackling unacceptable behaviour and he could even have been used as a pawn by some appalling political leaders.

Mind you, I’m more scared of Johnson. I don’t want to live in a low-tax, low-regulation society with patchy public services, few employment and consumer rights and little protection for the environment.

Hatethewordhun · 10/12/2019 23:44

Hahaha! He's the warmest politician I've ever seen. Detached- yeah he spends Christmas Day at the homeless shelter! WTAF?

YourWinter · 10/12/2019 23:44

I'm baffled that anyone can envisage Corbyn representing the United Kingdom on the world stage.

wafflyversatile · 10/12/2019 23:59

can't stand him. Think he is dishonest (remember the train incident anyone?)

This one? The one where virgin lied, released misleading footage then months later..

www.google.com/amp/s/www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/virgin-release-traingate-footage-proves-corbyn-told-truth-traingate/23/08/amp/

So sick of out and out lies and perverted versions of the truth on these threads and in the media.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 11/12/2019 00:03

He's not too keen on women or Jew

He's nowhere near as misogynistic as Johnson and despite the hyperbole I have yet to see one single illustration of him personally being anti semitic. I'm sure if there was anything it would be front page if the Fail.

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 11/12/2019 00:16

Not so, @StarbucksSmarterSister.

Just this month, he has been accused PERSONALLY of eleven acts of anti-Semitism. Not one, not two, eleven which is slightly too many to be brushed off.

That's by the Jewish Labour Movement-people who might naturally be his allies and with no axe to grind. Those people have accused him and I quote of, "personally engaging in acts of anti-Semitism"

Time to wake up and smell the coffee before it is too late!

Stop making excuses because one day this anti Semite might be in charge of this country and that has happened before in Germany. It happened piece by piece there with people denying it until it was finally upon them.

He is a dangerous piece of grubby work.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 11/12/2019 00:19

As I said I gave yet to see any evidence. Can you give me a link because I have seen nothing

StarbucksSmarterSister · 11/12/2019 00:23

So sick of out and out lies and perverted versions of the truth on these threads and in the media.

Me too. Reports today from Coalition for Reform in Political Advertising says 88% of Tory Facebook ads they viewed were "misleading". None of the Labour ones were.

Not to mention on Newsnight tonight the woman who started the rumour that the photo of the 4 year old on the floor at LGI was faked (and subsequently said her FB was hacked) turns out to have a son who is friendly with Matt Hancock. Total coincidence I'm sure Wink

OrangeTwirl · 11/12/2019 00:30

Jeez.... imagine a govt with Corbyn, Abbot and McDonnel at the helm... It doesn't bear thinking about 🙈

Rosehip345 · 11/12/2019 00:32

@Yarboosucks YANBU I probably wouldn’t use the words cold or detached but there is something strangely unsettling about him.

Boris is a baffoon, not sure anyone can deny this, but at least he obviously is. His Love Actually thing is a great gaff, won’t be getting my vote, but it was still apt for him.

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 11/12/2019 00:33

yes, @StarbucksSmarter Sister. I'm happy to help, although I'm amazed you haven't seen it as it's been all over the papers like a pissing puppy. Have you been away with no internet access?

One example that you'll be able to google quite easily is The Daily Telegraph/Politics/2019/ Jeremy Corbyn personally accused of 11 acts of anti-Semitism-leaked.

Lots of other papers have it too though, so even googling, " Jeremy Corbyn Personally Accused of eleven instances of Anti Semitism 2019 " will give you plenty of reading material and you can study the evidence there until your heart's content.

I imagine that as you have no idea of this appalling and dangerous side to Corbyn, you're in for a bit of a surprise when you head down to those particular woods, although I look forward to your excuses for him. I'm sure they will be feats of acrobatic excuses.

Tootyfilou · 11/12/2019 00:34

He is a very very kind empathetic man that has spent his whole political life fighting for a fairer more equal society. He has no personal political ambition, he wants power for ordinary people.
He radiates warmth. The MSM have done a spectacular job demonising him.

Pixxie7 · 11/12/2019 00:36

I like Corbyn he is a realist complete social reform is essential for any real change as seen through history time and time again. Yes we are taking a chance on Corbyn but what’s the other choice another 5 years of broken promises and lies.

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 11/12/2019 00:46

How come he's still got at least 3 million in the bank if he's so keen on helping others?

Could it be that he's like everyone else and wants to keep hold of it?

No difference between him and other rich people then is there except he makes a big puff about how he wants to redistribute wealth.

He probably does, just not his own I suppose.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 11/12/2019 00:55

No Crossing I haven't been away but I gave up on the Torygraph when it started imitating the Daily Mail. I do however view a number of news sources, none of which gave specific details. I also haven't seen incidents quoted on here despite the antipathy of several posters towards Corbyn. However I am not able to read every thread or every post of course.

Thanks for the info and I'll not make excuses anymore than I make excuses for Islamophobia, racism or anti semitism from other party leader.
