It seems like the stories about the old silver fox are ramping up. Feel like there's more mileage in this one that we know...

If you look at This Morning’s Twitter, loads of the replies to their cheery little tweets about the programme are about PS and the rumours.

I can’t imagine they feel they can carry on like this, it’s a real distraction from the show. Maybe they hope it will just have gone away by the time H and P come back from their half term hols.

Interestingly, a guy called James Nemo posted about the PS rumours as long ago as last July on fb and last month on Twitter (and apparently got blocked by PS when he did). The stories were clearly gathering pace in the run up to last week.

Sowhatywhaty · 11/02/2020 12:58

I thought that about the phone in & was willing someone to shout MM!

Also though - how can they seriously conduct genuine phone ins now, it's all so disingenuous, imagine "I got involved with my older boss at work & feel I've been taken advantage of- how do I move forward" 🤷🏼‍♀️

Inkanta · 11/02/2020 13:02

I expect Holly is being untangled right now, and plans made for the two of them to “take a break” from TM. PS will be “taking some time out to find himself for his mental health” (sacked)

Yes I can visualise that happening. I wonder if Holly could untangle from PS though. I understand they have shared holidays with each other, and pretty much live in each others' pockets - like there are no boundaries between home life and workplace. Wonder how their own families feel about it and Holly's husband.

TweetUsOnFacebook · 11/02/2020 13:04

There's quite a lag on the phones in's so any dodgy callers will be cut off.

I catch up with the week on fridays, mainly watch the cokking ShockGrin

Mascarponeandwine · 11/02/2020 13:59

@Inkanta Holly will be untangled by her PR / tv exec husband (who I imagine is no shrinking violet). I heard a rumour she might have a new deal with the bbc...

It’ll happen. It usually boils down to money, and which course of action is likely to be the most profitable.

HangingOffYourCloud · 11/02/2020 14:44

Cokking you say 😱😆

Sunshineand · 11/02/2020 14:48

Holly & Phil have got to go. It’s just bizarre keeping them on the show. Whilst it may not be printed in the papers, Twitter/FB etc are as big, if not bigger presence in this new online world of social media than The Sun/Mirror/DM. To not address the rumours and speculation when it’s a trending topic on those platforms is just ridiculous. Do they think that because it’s not physically printed in the paper you buy from the corner shop that it’ll just go away? Every hour that goes by that PS doesn’t come out and say ‘this did/didn’t happen’ he’s making himself look worse.

Absolutely. It's like they've got their fingers in their ears going 'lalalalalalalalala'

aloneinthenight · 11/02/2020 15:02

I don't think they will go anywhere.

If the press are forbidden from printing rumours, and NDAs have been signed, I think they'll ride it out and wait for everyone to move on.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 11/02/2020 15:32

ITV could get away with anything compared to the shit the BBC have to take from government. I think they like us all to be dumbed down with commercial tv.

TweetUsOnFacebook · 11/02/2020 15:36

Yeah I doubt anything will come of this. MM has the choice to either keep quiet and (hopefully) keep his a career, or sell/tell his story, ruin his chances of a career and end up on the reality show circuit... chomping on kangaroo gonads in November.

fikel · 11/02/2020 15:45

I saw it a little bit this AM, it was painful to watch and something has definitely shifted between them and on screen. Don’t think the show has any credibility left if they carry on hosting

SpokeTooSoon · 11/02/2020 16:56

Why do people sign NDAs? Are they paid to do it?

Redshoeblueshoe · 11/02/2020 17:01

Yes they're paid crazy money

yolofish · 11/02/2020 17:02

But I seem to remember, from the #metoo stuff that NDAs arent necessarily legally binding?

So you, the powerful one, makes someone sign one, but then it can come out that it was perhaps signed under duress, or there was another legal get out?

aloneinthenight · 11/02/2020 17:03

They are often part of a settlement.

In a grievance case for example, someone would be paid an out of court settlement but have to sign an NDA as a condition.

They are also fairly standard if you are working closely with celebrities. He may have signed one when he started working there, rather than when he left.

WhatKatyDidNot · 11/02/2020 17:06

Kevin Spacey deflected by coming out as gay when that his sexual preference wasn't really the issue.

Yes. How uncomfortably familiar the tale.

yolofish · 11/02/2020 17:06

thanks alone.

but the #metoo women seem to have had/are having their day in court? how does that work then?

would it be a case that the NDA was enforced illegally?

sorry, so many questions!

RapidRainbow · 11/02/2020 19:02

If a Si or NDA exists, its not above the law. I'm inclined now to think the paedophilic and grooming elements are just rumours.

cheeseomelette · 11/02/2020 19:21

I think it's now very clear that at best, highly inappropriate behaviour has been taking place at itv.

ITV are not addressing it properly, as is their approach in these situations and even a PR campaign reportedly costing tens of thousands was seen through virtually immediately.

This has all made me so angry. The idea that they assumed so many people could be manipulated. I'm really relieved that others saw friday for the crock of shit it was.

It could have been really different with a bit of honesty. Being gay doesn't even feature on the list of reasons I now dislike ps.

.

NutEIIaFitzgerald · 11/02/2020 19:22

I keep coming back to George Michael, who was very publicly outed
God love him, the video and song Outside were tremendous, sexy as and make me smile now. That's how you deal with a ''scandal''.

If PS had just said, I am gay, my wife has known about it for years but our marriage works for us, I am making this announcement because my ex boyfriend is going to the press, we might have cocked an eyebrow

Indeed. It would have led to less prurient interest - I love sleb twaddle but would have been in less Detective Pikachu/tricoteuse-popcorn mode had he not been lying his ass off. As it is, I just feel sorry for the runner because he is being maligned with no right to reply.

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 11/02/2020 19:45

If one good thing comes out of this shit show, it’s the hope that the desire to be all woke doesn’t override the need for critical analysis of everything we are fed on the assumption we are all stupid and easily manipulated.

BeyondReasonablyDoubtsLots · 11/02/2020 19:49

That's a bit optimistic for me, life! Grin

Evilspiritgin · 11/02/2020 20:04

Holly is in up to her neck along with Phil, he will know all holly ant etc dirty secrets

Its Weird that itv are trying to show Ps and holly in a good light, yet all the while they are trying to shut people up. People have been banned from Twitter, digital spy had a whole thread taken down that was there for weeks plus the papers are being very quiet. Even Perez has been careful about what he says
